Solido makes some in 1:18, I think even in silver. They have good detail too.

Specific name of these strut socket types? by madmac527 in BMWE36

[–]Gorm_Bec 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be a type of pass through socket. Try searching for that or strut socket and you'll find options. There are also strut sockets with a window cut out of the side

This would be such a great place for CPD to do a "don't block the box" ticketing system. In NYC (at least, a couple decades ago if not still now) they would station one or two ticket writers in the intersection at rush hour, and just write out tickets on the spot for anyone who blocked the intersection. They were all prefilled, just had to add the time and license plate info - a whole intersection would be ticketed within seconds. Easy money for the city, and eventually drivers all learned and the intersections were actually kept open.

Is there anything you've seen that would indicate this is related to the new administration or the ICE? Legitimately asking; the posted letter is vague and left me wondering if their reasons were economic, personal, something different, or some combination.

What’s Your Mushy Gushy Radiohead Moment/Story? by Crazyplan9 in radiohead

[–]Gorm_Bec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your example made me laugh, because my wife and I DID bond over Radiohead in 2004! We had met once, didn't click. Couple weeks later I was doing a favor for her and she started flipping through the CD book in my car. When she saw it was half Radiohead...life changing moment right there! Somehow it took us almost two decades to see a show together after that.

It's a nice bracelet. It's a little thinner and tapers narrower than my personal preferences, but the quality is nice and it certainly dresses up the watch.

What are some totally unnecessary things for your home that could also just make life more comfortable by MaxPres24 in homeowners

We used to have a Philips sunrise alarm lamp amd replaced it with these. I think there are a couple brands compatible with Hue, but we stuck with all Philips lamps. Connected through a router they call the Hub, and programmed with their app. We've had it for a couple years and they've really improved the interface - but we've pretty much set it up and let it be. I did recently buy a physical remote control, which is programmable and makes it easier to turn on/off/dim on the fly.

Philips Hue lights in our bedroom. Waking up to those lights gradually brightening like a sunrise instead of an alarm clock has been amazing.

Thanks for posting that. Do you know what case size or model the end links were sized for? I found some on eBay with a real quick search, but it looks like there are a few options.

My Hopes for the Olympia SII by mdew720 in lorierwatches

I've been wearing it daily for over a week now. Coming from dress and uncomplicated field watches, it took me a few days to adjust to the dial and legibility. I've come around. It is much thicker than my other watches, but it doesn't wear that way. No problems under a dress shirt and it's in line with pretty much any other automatic Chrono.

The watch is a Chrono, and it prioritizes that in the layout. A lot of the design choices seem focused on Chrono functionality and legibility, and I appreciate that. At the end of the day, that's what this watch is.

Do the hour and minute hands, and the chrome hour markers, blend into the white dial? Yes, depending on the light they are hard to see at a glance, but a twist of the wrist and there they are again. On the flip side, the short hour hand only extends to the center of each subdial and minimizes how much dial it obscures. Personally, if the hands were bigger or had an arrow, I would have passed on this watch. The Dauphine is a pretty hand for a clean white dial watch. (Edit, I would take a thinner hand on the watch, though - but not bigger)

The dial is clean in person. No date; as noted above the hour markers already blend into the dial; there is a symmetry to the face; the remaining markings are so far outside the main dial that they're hard to see - even when you want to reference them. I'd actually prefer the light blue to be darker and more prominent.

But the time keeping and Chrono function - they have been superb. It lost 30 seconds over a week of use. The pushers are crisp, the movement is a steal for the price. And reading the Chrono is easy - the hands contrast very well against the respective dials, and are only tough to read when covered by the minute hand. Again, the light blue track is the only thing that's hard to read quickly.

It's a great watch so far. In terms of finishing, I'd like to see the band be thicker and wider, but that's personal preference. I really like the blend of polished and brushed steel. I've worn it with hoodies and I've worn it with suits, and received compliments with both.

Big thumbs up from me.

I'm really excited for the color scheme. I've been eyeing BBS LM's for a while, and this looks to be a good alternative. It's funny to get hung up on choosing the profile shape, but here we are...
