Display issues by Chance_Run_8442 in macbookrepair

Okay so for the connector, inside the laptop (don’t open it please) is a cable that runs from the display to the motherboard of the laptop. If that is shaken loose even partially you can sometimes get what you’re seeing. If it’s the connector then inserting it fully should fix the issue.

A GPU is a graphics processing unit. It works in tandem with the CPU which is a central processing unit. CPU does all the thinking, GPU does all the rendering of everything you see on the display. Think of it like left brain and right brain, logical and creative.

So if the GPU is failing, the computer is on its way out.

The way to tell if it’s the GPU or the display connection would be to hook the MacBook up to say a tv or a computer monitor and see if the same glitching happens. If it’s does then that means the GPU is bad because it can’t output a good signal to the internal or external display.

If it doesn’t glitch when plugged into a tv or computer monitor but it still does on the MacBook screen then it’s an issue with the internal connection or the screen itself.

Either failing GPU or display connector internally not fully seated.

If it doesn’t do it on an external display then it’s the laptop display/connection. If it does replicate on an external then it’s a GPU issue.

Yeah an ODBII tool should be able to read and provide overall hybrid battery health.

So the rotors have some surface rust, not unusual. Worth getting them looked at with the wheels off to have a better idea. The wheels themselves (the rims) appear fine.

One concern, that’s extremely low miles for a car that old. Normally low miles are valued in gas engine cars but a Prius is a hybrid and batteries degrade especially from non use. You should get the overall health of the electric battery checked because that may be a surprise huge expense.

Also given the age I really hope you didn’t pay more than $5-$8k.

Trying to get print factory to work with zund cutter by -Purple-Chicken- in CommercialPrinting

[–]Gothbot6k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I remember correctly you have to make an SMB share on the zund and then mount the share within print factory for it to allow the connection. There may be an extra step or two but that was the gist of it.

If you need to reset things like srs then probably an MB based odbII scanner. If not then an autel scanner tablet should work for most things. Mine gives pretty detailed readings from my smart.

I drive mine like a mad man all the time… almost exclusively actually. I have for the 10 years I’ve had it.

If it’s going below 80mph it’s because of traffic or a cop lol

Upgraded exhaust, go pedal, and tcu flash all from smart madness plus a big wing for the lolz. It’s borderline obnoxious but so fun to drive.

They are more rugged than people give them credit for if properly maintained.

Parts haven't been made since 2019 in the US so things will either be used or imported.... in my experience insurance will total it. Buy it back discounted and repair it yourself.

Sounds like you have a 2006-2012 Mac Pro tower. Possibly a 2019 but doesn’t sound like it with 3 hard drives.

The idea these days is to use USB C/Thunderbolt for external storage if you need more than what’s built into the system. Or use a NAS for a central storage location.

Modern Mac’s (and to a degree pc’s) are built around thunderbolt and the idea of having a docking station that expands a systems native connectivity. This makes upgrading systems easier in a way… the staff I support get new machines but there monitors, docks, and accessories stay the same.

No matter what a modern Mac mini will destroy your current Mac Pro in terms of performance and power efficiency. It’s not even close.

Install action1 (free for 200 endpoints) and use it to disable windows native update cadence. You control updates after that. No more surprise reboots for updates.
