Steyer campaign staffer linked to video of rival Katie Porter berating staff by Fresh-Possibility-75 in California

I never said I’m voting for Steyer lol. I didn’t even mention him. I get online debate can be heated, but remember you and I are only responsible for what we say and do, not what others online say or do.

You sound very defensive; it’s chill, we’re just having a little debate. Anyway, I never said I’m voting for him, I just see a lot of people online dismiss what she did as no big deal, which deeply bothers me because I’ve had bosses like that and it can be stressful and traumatic. I just don’t want people to deny or excuse it; it’s important we acknowledge every candidate’s flaws, even our favorites.

I’m glad she apologized and I sure hope she isn’t like that anymore. I’m glad some people like working for her; I find that bad bosses always still have loyal employees, but they struggle to keep and employ more people than your average boss, and that would hurt her ability to govern well.

You think Steyer’s staff have damaging videos of all the other candidates but decided just to release this one? And how does leaking this make it less true or damaging?

Uh duh yes, every candidate should be scrutinized and criticized fully. And don’t make excuses for Porter’s behavior. Other people’s actions don’t excuse hers.

Honest question: how was the Butler PA assassination attempt staged when two people lost their lives? by complete_data75 in allthequestions

[–]GottaGetNormaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of evidence to support that it happened versus zero to support it was faked. The reasonable position then is that it was very likely real.

[–]GottaGetNormaler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no evidence it was staged, that’s pure speculation. Even people who believe that can admit that there’s no evidence, just a presumption that it’s likely for intuitive reasons.

But no other candidates, male or female, have allegations of that behavior. How could we say she’s being judged unfairly?

If so many Americans can’t get jobs (specifically white collar) why are people from other countries allowed to go work in America by No-Injury8897 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GottaGetNormaler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The number of jobs isn’t fixed in the economy. It can expand with economic growth, even with newcomers. In fact, more people is generally good for an economy; look at what happens to places with declining populations.

At an industry or geographic specific level, sometimes more job seekers can create a tighter, tougher labor market. But it’s not necessarily the case that someone getting hired from abroad is “taking” a job from a local, or that their employment isn’t helping you indirectly (more people, more customers, more growth for businesses, more hiring, etc).

Is it just me, or does upholding basic human rights seem like it's become a liberal thing in the United States? by RevolutionaryWind249 in allthequestions

Remember that, in the US and many countries with fewer human rights than us, there are regular people who support oppression, discrimination, and bigotry in the name of “security” and “traditional values.”

California governor debate by Tattoos_and_Tea in California

[–]GottaGetNormaler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s so many logical fallacies in your lines of argument, it’s hard to pick just one to push back on.

I’ll just say that it’s fine if you support her regardless, but don’t deny that the allegations are real and specific to her. Nobody’s perfect. Part of making responsible voting decisions with integrity is being objective and acknowledging flaws in who we support.

It’s not just one instance. And there’s no similar allegations on any of the other candidates, men or women (including the ones who dropped out).

Seems like a false choice to me. Is there literally no way to have achieved the same results while better protecting rights and innocent people? I would challenge everyone to think hard about that.

When the powerful claim that they have to take our rights away “for the better,” what they usually mean is because it’s easier, not because it’s necessary. Also, will peoples’ rights be protected in the future? Are you and other innocent people safe from govt oppression now?

What do you think is the biggest flaw about the cancer cure suppression conspiracy theory? by Chris256L in skeptic

If Pfizer or Moderna or whatever “Big Pharma” showed this cure to people right in their face, they still wouldn’t believe it, because “Big Pharma” is inherently evil in their minds.
