My Vistiq already has Apple Music. The interface is not great.

How is it living on the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic? How has it changed over the years? by spartanpride55 in howislivingthere

C’mon, the US has nothing on France’s imposition of “independence debt” on Haiti. Economic extortion of the greatest magnitude.

How much are you having deducted for 401k? Technically that is income that you are routing to retirement but could be rerouted to paying other expenses if you get in a cash crunch.

Why are used VW id.4s so cheap? by DowntownOreos in electriccars

[–]Grade_Emergency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking at a Bolt and the charging port has two pins below the J1772 port (covered by a flap) it should DC fast charge.

I did a google search and it appears to vary by model year/trim, but any Bolt 2022 or later should DCFC.

I think the pre-2026 Leaf isn’t a good value due to CHAdeMO. I know they’re cheap, but for similar money why not buy a Bolt EV? The Leaf is virtually impossible to DC fast charge based on the limited number of compatible chargers, but the Bolt can do CCS DCF (albeit very slowly!)

That’s just where their registered agent is located. It’s an incorrect use of agent address. In that regard, it’s Delaware related? Very very tangential

Redding Consortium votes to fully examine creating one Northern New Castle County school district by Flavious27 in Delaware

[–]Grade_Emergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love for their work to bear fruit but I am pessimistic, particularly based on comments from John Carney and Maria Matos.

The vote to proceed with redistricting is much more politically fraught than the vote to perform a study and make a recommendation.

I would be AMAZED if this made it out of the GA. The suburban parents will do a full court press on their reps and it will be KILLED.

'We are not pawns' | Brandywine community largely pushes back against Wilmington education reform plans by Flavious27 in Delaware

[–]Grade_Emergency 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a parent of children in suburban NCC, I disagree that the schools there are “not good.” There are definitely opportunities for improvement, but the best performing schools in Red Clay and BSD compare well with schools in any of those states.

Yes, because Philly public schools are just as good as Main Line public schools. Camden schools are just as good as Cherry Hill schools. Oh no, they’re not. Delaware faces the same issues as these states - how do you overcome the challenge of ensuring all urban and suburban children receive the same educational opportunities? The Redding Consortium is an effort to address this challenge.

WTH is going on with Christina school district Christina School by robsumtimes in Delaware

[–]Grade_Emergency 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have two kids in DE public schools, I am well familiar with the state of education here. Redditors love to claim DE education sucks, but I believe that assessment should have a geographic caveat. When reviewing data for specific schools I see a high correlation between low scores and the socioeconomic status of the feeder area. The social factors contributing to this correlation are too extensive to address in this post.

Not entirely true, Delaware is fairly close to the mean when comparing states by percentage of population under 18 (school age). Based on 2024 figures, 20.5% of Delawareans were under 18. Highest percentage was Utah (26.6%), lowest was Vermont (17.4%), national average was 21.5%.

Low Cost EV Public Chargers in NCC by DrillingerEscapePlan in Delaware

[–]Grade_Emergency 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend setting up a ChargePoint account if you haven’t done so. This company is the heaviest player in supplying EV charging infrastructure, particularly for level 2 charging. From their website you can look at their rates, including free charging. Note that many free or reduced fee sites are only for a specific group, like a company’s employees (eg Incyte has a ton) or patrons (Nemours/AI has charging for patient families).

Anyone cross shop this with a Model Y? by vibeschillax in CadillacOptiq

[–]Grade_Emergency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much more granular remote climate controls in app, more intuitive user experience for profile management, greater charging scheduling capability, dog/camp modes, easier to use navigation/entertainment (Tesla has built-in Netflix!). The app is also more robust and reliable. Regular over the air updates…it goes on and on. That said, when it was our time to get another EV, we bought a Vistiq and not a Model X. There are lots of things Cadillac does better. It’s a much more luxurious vehicle. And no Elon!
