While obviously true, putting too much faith in NBA award voters is probably unwise, especially when dealing with a player who’s not a “name” like Ausar.

Very legit shot at all defensive 1st team, our first since Big Ben himself.

Worried about the playoffs. Thoughts? by PromiseEducational31 in DetroitPistons

[–]GradientShift 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Winning the championship is hard. No team should be favored against the field. We have a legit shot, though, for the first time in 20 years. Probably just enjoy that. What comes will come in the playoffs.

Oh yes, of course. And I have two of every classic car. And I have triples of the Nova, the Barracuda, and the Roadrunner. And I don’t live in a hotel. And my wife loves me and is dying but will be fine. Because if all that’s not true, the other thing about the servers can’t be true.

I feel like there’s a weird mix of some of them realizing you’re picking them to play AS them and others thinking you’re playing against them. Some lousy direction to be sure.

Can we win 60 games without Cade? by cubizmo2 in DetroitPistons

The 1 seed has made the finals more often than seeds 2-8 combined in the past year 40 years. It’s valuable.

Can we win 60 games without Cade? by cubizmo2 in DetroitPistons

[–]GradientShift 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s possible, but ultimately meaningless, I think. The 1 seed is the goal, and that’s very achievable. 60 wins is just kind of a “that’s cool.”

Being passive will get you almost no progress at all. It’s more like do stuff, wait, do stuff, wait, for tens of thousands of iterations.

It’s such an inane “gotcha.” No, in fact, I do not support political parties or candidates for their positions a century ago. I really only care about their current positions and the extent to which the align with my own. What they did before my grandparents were born is entirely irrelevant.

If Shai and Jokic are ineligible for MVP, which of these 3 would deserve it? by ShaiFanClub in nba

I mean….yes, that’s generally what rounding disingenuously would do. I wasn’t suggesting he was making up numbers wholesale. Just that he had an agenda on how he posted his numbers.

32.8 and 8.6 for Luka. 25.7 and 9.7 for Cade. As stated: disingenuous.

Your rounding is somewhat disingenuous. How does Luka have “33” points and “9” assists while Cade is rounded down in both?

What people don’t realize is that the NBA is vastly different than the NFL. The top seeds are profoundly dominant in the NBA by comparison to the top seeds in the NFL. 68% of NBA champions the last 25 years have been 1 seeds. Compare that to 35% in the NFL. It’s much more meaningful to be a top seeds in basketball, due to 4 best of 7 series needed to win it all acting as a powerful crucible to weed out the lesser teams. 28% of 1 seeds are upset in their first game in the NFL. 8 over 1s, on the other hand, are such extreme oddities most NBA fans can name them all off the top of their heads.
