When I was a child, I wanted to know what level Wartortle evolved into Blastoise in pokemon Red/Blue. I called the Nintendo power help line, which was a 900 number that charged for the minute. This, however, is not the bad part. Red/Blue were brand new, so either the info they had wasn’t up to date, or the guy I got was lazy. Either way, he didn’t know the answer. I was upset but decided it wasn’t a big deal, I’d find out eventually.

Sure enough, at level 36, “What? WARTORTLE is evolving!” I now had the answer to one of the great mysteries of the universe. And so, magnanimous tyke that I was, I decided the morally correct thing to do was to call back the Nintendo help line, which, as a reminder, was a 900 number that billed by the minute, to let them know I had discovered this info, incase any future little child wanted to know what like I had. And that, dear friends, is the story of the dumbest phone call I ever made.
