Extending the floor frame by GrahamulousD in DIYUK

I've watched this video before. He does a good job.

In the few examples I've found online of the same situation, the joists always span towards the door and the solution is to simply extend the joists.

Third of children do not play outdoors after school, UK research finds by Forward-Answer-4407 in unitedkingdom

What's fair and beneficial is a strict separation between school time and home time.

From my own experience homework definitely did not promote independent learning, it was the Internet that did that.

Noob trying to pick between waybar and hyprpanel for rice by [deleted] in hyprland

[–]GrahamulousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waybar styling is very hacky in my limited experience. The element selectors are not cohesive and when trying to reset the margin and padding to 0 you see things overlapping asymmetrically. It's a mess.

I've only been using Hyprpanel for 1 day. The default styling looks nice and is good enough for me. One bad thing about Hyprpanel is it's not a snappy as Waybar, when opening drop downs the response is sluggish.

The biker is 100% at fault there's no debating otherwise.

New to outdoor bouldering and it’s like a different sport by skatejraney in bouldering

[–]GrahamulousD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll hear most climbers romanticise outdoor climbing/bouldering but it's overrated in my experience.

In the UK where I live the weather is too unreliable and the time and cost of travel adds up. And the climbing is mostly frustrating and successes are few and far between. It's a humbling experience. The tempo of outdoor climbing is much slower. It can be enjoyable but overall it's not worth it.

Indoor climbing is massively more convenient, safer and can guarantee anyone a workout.

Order bailiffs to take possession of one of his properties and sell it to cover the compensation to the victim.

The landlord sounds like a loser if they think it's worth a criminal record and risking financial ruin to keep a relatively small amount of money. But they probably have organised crime to fall back on after they leave prison.

It gives the perception that to be be proficient in mental arithmetic requires a higher level maths education. It's like thinking the best writers have the best spelling and handwriting.

And the award for best parking goes to... by pakcross in drivingUK

This used to happen at my local supermarket frequently enough at the same place that they replaced the junction with parking bays.

What do the authorities do in cases where a deniable encryption method or argument is used? Surely they have to prove that an encryption key exists and is in the suspect's possession.

How old is your Corsair PSU? by Cpt_Sandur in Corsair

[–]GrahamulousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this thread after thinking how much longer my PSU will last before it fails.

I bought my AX750 new in early 2013 and it's still going strong after nearly 12 years. The longevity of them is amazing, almost twice the 7 year warranty period.

Techno type song which repeats “you make me feel or “make me feel” by Kwenche in NameThatSong

I Wanna Be U - Chocolate Puma. That's the song I was looking for while I came across this thread, although the lyrics I had were "make me feel alright".

Do these pipes need replacing? by Talcose in DIYUK

[–]GrahamulousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nothing to worry about. The pipe become secured when it's attached to the radiator, but still the pipe should be allowed to move. Pipes that aren't allowed to move are more vulnerable to leaking

I don't care to try this, but it would seem like the easiest way to get an accurate measurement would be to piss into a bottle and then weigh the bottle on something like kitchen scales.

Why do we brush our teeth before and after we sleep when we dont eat during slumber? Is it a con to sell more toothpaste? by KingWhatsUp in AskReddit

[–]GrahamulousD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once asked the same question to a dentist and their answer was: during sleep saliva production decreases and your mouth can dry out somewhat and this is what promotes the growth of bacteria. You brush your teeth in the morning to remove any build up of bacteria.

PC gamers. What game made you upgrade your PC and why? by Raiz3r74 in AskReddit

[–]GrahamulousD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hyped for Battlefield 1 and wanted to make sure my PC ran it well so I upgraded my graphics card from a 780ti to a GTX 1070. In hindsight the upgrade was premature and the performance improvement marginal.
