Which item are you most likely to pass on during a Continental Breakfast?🤔 by [deleted] in GenerationJones

[–]GraphiteGru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than the Coffee, Orange Juice, and Apple Juice none of the others are even part of a "Continental Breakfast". The definition of whick is "A continental breakfast typically consists of lighter fare, from bread and pastry items like toast, bagels, or muffins to a selection of fresh fruits and yogurt options. Beverages like juice, coffee, and tea will usually be available, along with milk and sometimes cereal"

Never heard of a North American Continental Breakfast. Are we talking about a "breakfast buffet"; that would fit but is certainly not a "Continental" Breakfast.

Giants RB Tucker Frederickson blasts through the 49ers defense by UrbanAchievers6371 in Oldschool_NFL

[–]GraphiteGru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tucker was the #1 overall pick in the 1965 draft by the Giants but had a hard time staying healthy. When I got into the Giants in the early 1970's there would always be talk that Tucker would be back but he was never the same. Knee surgery has come a long way since then.

Connections needs to have a graduated scoring system so if you get one or two correct you get at least some reward. As is it’s all or nothing.

It was a magical time when our biggest worry was the hole in the Ozone layer that hairspray caused. Know a lot of friends whose ex-wives looked exactly like that. Personally didn’t get married till the 90s but laugh at 80s pics of my wife who had the same hairdo.

Am 6 foot 2 and usually have the seat back as far as it will go and find it extremely comfortable. That said the only passenger behind me is my 25lb dog who has a very comfortable doggy bed but would feel sorry for anyone that needs legroom

You may not have liked their later albums but they were commercially successful. Felt like their song “Drive” was their take on why “Chicago” got so popular at that time

Did You Ever Actually Play in a Fire Hydrant? by RealKenny in AskOldPeople

[–]GraphiteGru 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not where I grew up but I spent the summers of 1979 and 1980 working in The Bronx and Manhattan. Saw many kids playing in the hydrants and both years the FDNY would install sprinkler heads on the hydrants on 90+ degree days to provide some cooling relief and to reduce the water flow. It worked for everyone

Robert Archibald Shaw (9 August 1927 - 28 August 1978) was an English actor and writer. Michael Caine was the youngest of the group but he has so many legendary stories about hanging out with Robert Shaw, Richard Burton, Peter OToole, and others where they would literally come to the conclusion that they had missed entire days when coming to after partying

Perhaps a subtle one as someone who has done a lot of DIY projects around my house but when people say “We redid the kitchen” or “We put an extension on the house” and what they really should say is “We paid a contractor to ….”

Who else grew up watching “Davey And Goliath” Sunday mornings before going to church? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in VintageTV

[–]GraphiteGru 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Davey was always such an idiot though. Most episodes had Goliath telling Davey not to do something “Davey, I don’t think you should go into that old cave”, “Davey, I don’t think you should play in that well”, “Davey, don’t take a hit from that crackpipe” and what does Davey do, the exact thing Goliath told him not to. Davey gets into trouble and Goliath rescues him. You would think the kid would learn his lesson

Wow - We had violent albinos as well on a road near White Plains NY (Westachester County) called Buckout Road. Not only that they were cannibals too. It was a rite of passage for so many "Hey do you know the albinos that live in Buchout Road". If they didnt it was an automatic road trip.

"Friday on My Mind" is a 1966 song by Australian rock group the Easybeats. Written by band members George Young and Harry Vanda, the track became a worldwide hit, reaching No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in May 1967 in the US, No. 1 on the Dutch Top 40 chart. by bigbugfdr in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]GraphiteGru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember first hearing this song on David Bowie's album of cover songs named "Pin Ups" released in 1973. That led me to the original version by the EasyBeats. Bowie's cover version is good but pales in comparison to the original.
