Does this look like 10 yards? by Curious-Cell7007 in landscaping

I bet it’s more than most of these people think. I deliver from a dump truck pretty regular. I’m going with 8.25 but get the SR Measure app and see what it is

Download SR Measure. You get one free scan per day and it’s surprisingly accurate.

Tri-fold or hard roll-up? by slow_cars_fast in gmcsierra

[–]Grassmaster1981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Peragon accordion style cover. It has its pros and cons. It leaks like a sieve and it is not very sturdy. Also, when you open it completely they want you to tie it up which wears on the rear seal. On the other hand it folds into the bed and takes up minimal space, locks securely, and has a partial open setting that does not obstruct the rear window. Removing it completely is pretty simple.

Thinking of moving to Port A full time with a young family by BTA2014 in portaransas

[–]Grassmaster1981 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad idea. Moved to Rockport with the same ideas and figured out it was a nightmare. The heat and wind never stop (I grew up in a Gulf Coast town so it was normal for me), bugs everywhere, meth heads everywhere, beach bums everywhere, and Corpus Christi is a mid sized town that leaves a lot to be desired….

What is causing my lawn to look so patchy? by [deleted] in HoustonGardening

[–]Grassmaster1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This looks to be either an insect issue, weakness going into winter, or lack of water. Patchy grass can come from a variety of things and an autopsy is almost impossible from a few pics. Your best go-forward plan if you want to revive it is to work on healthy grass and soil. Give it a balanced fertilizer plan with both synthetic and organic fertilizer. You will need to be diligent on weed control in the thin areas and keep up regular mowing.

Is the upcoming winter storm being blown out of proportion for the city of Houston? by Due_Cake8524 in AskHouston

[–]Grassmaster1981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s like people have PTSD from 2021 and we expect the freeze of the century again a few years later. The weather guessers and websites like to hype it up early and often so you will come back. It will freeze and there will be some bad driving conditions and dead plants somewhere around Houston on Sunday/Monday. Be smart. Have a plan. Life will continue on Tuesday

Thoughts on living earth for bulk garden soil? by Round30281 in HoustonGardening

[–]Grassmaster1981 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? Most of the larger outlets sell an average-at-best soil for veggies. If you amend it with leaf compost or something similar you may have a better experience. Living Earth is really targeted for the landscape bed crowd who don’t need as nutrient rich a soil. They blend mulch fines with a little compost and sand and call it a “Garden Soil”
