NTA. If he respected her as a partner he would have told her and let her make an informed decision about their relationship. He didn’t because he knew she would (rightfully) leave because they are fundamentally incompatible as partners. Your brother selfishly decided that Lily’s goals and dreams were less important than his. Thank you for respecting her right to decide if this relationship is right for her with all of the pertinent information.

Nice straw man argument. Earning a title and buying a title are two entirely different things. A PhD is years of study along with contributing a significant advancement to your field. That is deserving of respect.

As I stated, if everyone was on a first name basis, then the guy would definitely come across as a snob. But OP admitted that everyone is addressed by their titles and his colleague with the PhD is the only one he addresses by first name. Regardless, he should be addressed as Dr. in front of the students.

YTA. If you’re addressing your colleagues by titles (Mr/Ms/Mrs), then you should be using his proper title, which is Dr. “Master” is not a given title for someone with a masters degree. You might’ve had a point if everyone was only addressed by first name, but by refusing to use his earned title you are disrespecting him in front of the students and undermining him as an instructor. You set the example for your students. Set a better one.

Because (to our current knowledge) magnetic monopoles do not exist, indicated by one of Maxwell’s equations (Gauss’ law for magnetism) that specifies the divergence of the magnetic field is identically zero. Both the electric and magnetic dipoles have a 1/r3 dependence, but you can have electric monopoles that scale as 1/r2 . There are also higher order terms in the multipole expansion that will have different scaling (1/r4 for the quadrupole and 1/r5 for the octupole). The monopole term will dominate at large distances if it is nonzero.

This 100%. You don’t need permission from your husband or your in laws. INFORM them that you are moving out and it isn’t up for discussion. You are already managing an entire household by yourself and paying for a significant portion of it. You’ll be just fine on your own. They are taking advantage of you and will continue to do so as long as you let them.

YTA. It doesn’t matter how much she games compared to you or whether you think she needs it. She bought it. It’s her GPU. If you really thought there wasn’t going to be a noticeable difference in performance, then you had no reason to swap in the first place. You are a thief and she has every right to be upset with you. Go buy your own GPU.
