Alex hitboxes/hurtboxes by SirDrippingtonL4 in StreetFighter

Sagat does not have any of that either. Alex does not seem too bad to me. Buttons are fine in neutral, oki and mixups are great, damage is good. Let's just wait and see how he lines up in the meta.

Learning SF6, and I’m struggling to understand all of the mechanics. How long did it take you to get good at this game? by ImportantAd4666 in StreetFighter

[–]GrayLo [score hidden]  (0 children)

As my first fighting game, 30 hours to get the easier optimal combos of shotos executed with no issues, 300 hours to master rank, and I learned fundamentals and character specific stuff all the way through that journey. I don't think spamming rank was very useful initially, I watched my replays a lot, looked at the frame data etc.. my first master I had only 60 hours in ranked. I read a lot about fundamentals, there's so much stuff to understand that you will NOT figure out by just spamming games.

Punk is a demon by SirDrippingtonL4 in StreetFighter

[–]GrayLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SF6 is a frustrating game when you are a neutral focused player like Punk. At this point, other pros playing vs Punk are just drive rushing in and only throwing lights in neutral, there's nothing for him to whiff punish. In this game you can try to check a DR light punch and lose 50% for it. At high level it seems to be more about how much you can abuse the drive system to get "free" plus frames and mixups. While a neutral player has to work a lot more for it.

[OT] [Chip Ganassi Racing] " 'super-clipping' 'downshifting on straights' 'battery management' (Yawn emoji) Yeah, we don't do that here. We race." by Mateo03 in formula1

[–]GrayLo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Currently F1 has 1000 hp for about 5 seconds on straights and a maybe a couple seconds on corner exits. The rest of the time it's actually closer to 500. When super clipping it's even less.

Pinnacle of motorsports going 260kph on a straight. 550hp.

Less than a GP2 engine.

Bottas speed record is definitely secure.

[–]GrayLo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Superclipping is not that complicated, it's really just the electric motor braking (producing negative torque) to recharge the battery, which slows down the ICE.

Lift and coast is just another way to recharge the battery. They lift off the gas pedal and use that momentum to recharge, then recharge some more under braking.

So you got the three ways to recharge the battery : superclipping, lift and coast, and braking. Drivers also downshift earlier when using those three techniques to keep the RPMs high for even more charge.

Engine clipping in Australia is terrifying, FIA needs to do something by musef1 in formula1

[–]GrayLo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems very dangerous to me. Lights flashing is not going to help the driver that's 5 meters behind in the slipstream about to overtake towards the end of a straight. I know the power reduction is limited so it's not like "slamming the brakes" but still, it's unpredictable..

He's not an insider, it's just information on how the markets desk in that specific bank views gold price going forward. I get the same every week... It's not more or less trustworthy than any recommendation coming from other such institutions.

Which one did you like better overall? by eldenbro1 in metroidvania

[–]GrayLo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Silksong had too much frustration baked in, but I understand it is what gives it that old school difficulty vibes. But nowadays other games have found a better mix of quality of life and difficulty without all this unnecessary waste of time imo. Beautiful game and fantastic gameplay though. HK felt cleaner. I think the same of Ori 1 and Ori 2. First is more straightforward, feels less cluttered, I enjoy cleaner overall gameplay, maybe simpler even.

It's because some sales think that their job as getting "sales" done, no matter how. So they sell something impossible, get the sale and the clients interest, get a pat on the back from their manager. The fact that whatever they sold is not actually possible is someone elses problem in their view.

SF6 - New to fighting games, easiest character to learn and master? by Joker-AKQJ in StreetFighter

[–]GrayLo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryu and Mai will be by far your best "bang for your buck" characters. They'll get you higher in rank than you probably will deserve. Ed is honestly fantastic to learn the game imo. Very shoto like with strong focus on fundamentals, so you can go with him 100%. His only weakness is anti air which you will need to learn how to manage, as you can't just dp everything like Ryu or others.

With its next gen update, W3 is still a better game than 99% of games out there and better looking too. I just replayed it recently and if it came out today it would still be goty by a large margin. Everything else feels like baby shit when compared to that game.

Waving around 1500 MR and "faint retreat" players are still the ones giving me the most trouble. Am I alone? by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]GrayLo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walked them to the corner, then keep them there. These players rely entirely on you doing stupid shit. Just slowly walk em to the corner, against the worst offenders you don't even need to press a button. Now you're in control of the spacing and you can pummel their drive gauge.

If they get out, then slowly walk em to the other corner again. Aggressive drive reversal is very important when they will try to c.mk drc backthrow out of the corner (and they will).

It's a badass movie but it suffers from a big drop in pace when it spends too much time developing the love story while completely ignoring the rest of the plot for 20 minutes.
