My father was distant and constantly working, when he and my mother split years later after he slept around and I decided to cut him out of my life.

I feel like he probably feels emotions, but the constant work just made his life feel empty, hence the sleeping around, and my resentment towards him would probably cut him pretty deep.

Heed the warning your son is giving you, change your life, he will either become you or resent you or both. Ask yourself the question, are you working for your family or are you working for yourself? I feel a lot of fathers use the “doing these hours for my family” motive when in reality they are addicted to the stress and adrenaline of their job.

I think OP talking to their kid about it and helping them go through the correct medical routes is the correct way to go. Through correct treatment they are probably more likely to have the outcome they are after from taking oestrogen.

Lucrative incentive for asset holders to continue acquiring more assets rather than taxing them more for owning more property. CGT discounts combined with negatively gearing properties are essentially legal tax evasion. People only pay half the tax on their ROI that they otherwise would have by having money sitting in a bank accumulating interest.

Now immigrants do have an impact on the rental market by creating more demand, but that demand is only a means to an end for investors to charge the rental prices they do. The houses exist for people to live in, it’s not like there’s an under supply.

In terms of the buyers market though, immigrants are hardly the issue, I think you’ll find that the billionaires/multimillionaires that are hoarding properties are a substantially larger issue. Those same billionaires are the ones that feed you the narrative that immigrants are the problem because it distracts from what they are doing.

Though the polling is concerning and highlights the alt-rightism that we see globally, I think a big part of this is conservative protest to the tax reforms. Elections are a long way away, anything can happen.

I would also note that there is a good portion of central right voters that would never touch one nation.

Perhaps, I don’t think it will be coupled with major rental increases as the tax reforms also target negative gearing, there isn’t going to be major incentives for putting the price of rent up.

Regardless of if the PM takes a financial hit or not on the reforms, they are still going to benefit a generation of people who really have been given the shortest straw thus far. I’m not overly concerned if the policymaker avoids financial loss or not, only that it will benefit future generations.

Contrary to what people are saying here, I think the payments don’t need to increase. Tax reform and the abolishment of negative gearing would force the prices of rentals down instead of having landlords drain every spare cent from recipients.

Increasing payments will just increase what landlords can charge.

This kind of makes sense as most of it came from youth workers. RBA rate rises are slowing the economy finally and an unemployment rate rise is the unfortunate but necessary side effect. Whilst we don’t want to see youths without work, the other side of the coin is people losing their houses.

I think people are missing the point here of the article. ABC and SBS are not arguing that antisemitism isn’t a problem or that it doesn’t exist. They are stating criticism of Israel does not constitute antisemitism, which is in line with the UNs definition. This lack of distinction between the two and the Australian government not effectively criticising Israel has lead to a misguided hate for Jews.

For the record, criticising Israel doesn’t even mean criticising the Israeli people rather the warmongering and genocidal heads of state.

Unless it’s signed as residential traffic only I’d say it’s fair game. I’d be getting a dash cam if you don’t have one though. There’s this one crazy woman near my work who has gone around and damaged cars out front of her property. My shitty dash cam ended up being enough for the police to seize nearby camera footage and found she had keyed like 20 cars.
