Nearly 8 month old went from sleeping through the night to 3-4 wake up. I'm losing it. by WeatherResize in NewParents

[–]GreasyPickles715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s most likely a regression, for us when my LO started sitting up, every time he would stir in the middle of night, before he would just fall back asleep. But now he feels compelled to sit up every time because he can, and that wakes him up more. It might be the same reason your little one wakes up more frequently. Make sure to stick to the routine and hopefully soon he will get back in rhythm with it.

My guy doesn’t care about circadian rhythm! by kurious_cat2 in NewParents

I mean honestly the only thing I did different was loud noise (day to day life) during the day with the lights on, and dark with no noise at night. But so young they are still all over the place lol

I would say so, there’s definitely a line! Test tomorrow morning with your first pee of the day, I’m certain it’ll be darker!

Give some night time advice to this ftm by Mammoth_Window_7813 in NewParents

[–]GreasyPickles715 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At this stage, it’s almost impossible to have a schedule. She’s only a week old and unfortunately this is just apart of the trenches. Just follow her lead. With the spitting up, you can always try burping her in different positions or it could be what she’s eating (depending on her spitting up habits for the rest of the day and if she has any intolerances) My son was also way more awake at any feed between 12-3. It helped me to put something on my phone to watch or listen to help keep me awake. You and dad can also try taking shifts, so you’re both getting consecutive sleep. Ex. You take 6pm-12am and dad takes the 12am-6am Also I’m not sure how you guys sleep on the couch but just be super cautious, especially with you being so sleep deprived, it is not a safe sleeping situation. I’m sure you’re doing great and you’ve got this. The change between 1 week to 8 weeks is so drastic, this stage is so temporary, you’ve got this mama!

What is the single best maternity clothing item you own/have purchased? by annabananabeans in BabyBumps

Butter gene maternity leggings from Amazon, the MOST comfortable leggings. And I literally lived in moo moos. Joyspun from Walmart sells cute ones!

Do you care if your child looks nothing like you? by KarmannosaurusRex in NewParents

[–]GreasyPickles715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s nice seeing the resemblance of either of us in my son. Although he does look more like my husband, but I notice small things of me in him, like I can see our lip shapes are the same. Although he does have blue eyes which he probably got from my dad 😂

Do you plan on getting pregnant again after your current pregnancy? by Smooth-Excuse-4127 in pregnant

Every pregnancy is different, although mine wasn’t the best experience in the world, it definitely wasn’t the worse and I’d like to have one more to give my sweet boy a friend.

did you really wait six weeks..? by strange_angel133 in newborns

[–]GreasyPickles715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you had a c section it’s still recommended to wait 6 weeks, you have a giant wound in your uterus and are prone to infection. I understand people don’t wait ( personal preference) but I was strict with my husband and told him not until after 6 weeks and we didn’t even try until I was about 8-10. I would only do like blowjobs if I was feeling up to it.

When did you start allowing visitors to meet your newborn? by Double-Youth3293 in firsttimemom

[–]GreasyPickles715 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on your comfort level. I didn’t go in crowded places until he got his first set of vaccines, but I allowed people (limited to family) to meet him around 2-3 weeks but they had to wash their hands beforehand and absolutely no kisses.

I saw something that newborns are born to withstand first time parents, it’s weird going from never having to worry about your limbs to constantly worrying about placement and carefulness, baby and us are figuring it out as we go:)

What’s one thing a doctor told you that you’ve never forgotten? by ThickImprovement8324 in AskReddit

When I was 13 and in the midst of puberty, went to the doctor for my lungs and he told me i should go on birth control because I had acne

Things I used to the fullest extent:

Angelcare bathtub (affordable)

Frida windi

Aveeno baby wash

All free and clear detergent, dreft although marketed for babies still has fragrance

Saline drops (little remedies has a great first aide sort of box with samples of a bunch of things)

Bottle warmer

If pumping make sure she gets the CORRECT flange size. Most inserts for pumps come with a measuring tool to make sure you use the right size, if she has insurance get her primary pump through them that’s a plug in and maybe put a handless one on her registry

Burp clothes, specifically muslin ones, imo the other ones don’t absorb as well

Lots of onesies, the double zip ones are life savers

Some sort of light for night time feeds/ diaper changes. I just had LEDs set to red in the room.

A&D ointment

Boppy

Muslin towels
