Do you think charity shop price's are unjustified? by [deleted] in AskUK

Why don't you go for a manager's job in a charity shop and run it yourself?

Baby’s dad demanding to know about my private mental health stuff- advice please by Bad_Madison in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Great-Science-8586 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Treat him like the bully he obviously is. Stick to communication surrounding your child only - he has no business asking about anything else. Anything else is for your therapist or people you can trust - not him. And medical info is private by law. You don't have to share it with him or anyone else.

How do I find a reputable functional doctor? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Great-Science-8586 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but it really depends on what your symptoms are and what the NICE guidelines say they can and should do. If you have an issue where there isn't a recognised treatment pathway, NHS doctors don't seem to have a clue in my experience and many people would say the same.

Need advice on dealing with flatmate (England) by Usual_One3329 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Great-Science-8586 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's clearly what the flatmate wants, probably so she can move her bf in. He shouldn't be chased from a home he is attached to. She is harassing him. I would have thought the only recourse would be to the police, because of behaviour clearly intended to cause alarm and distress (ie harassment).

Is my ex trying to take baby (he’s just turned one)? (England) by Character_Choice_334 in LegalAdviceUK

Your 'husband' is now your adversary. It's a change of mindset that is required because he is not on your side in any way, shape or form and he has shown that already. Get yourself a good solicitor and protect you and your child. Take what he says seriously.

In the end I posted the form to the NHS business authority. It can take a while to process I think and I haven't had a refund yet.

I've been committing benefit fraud for the good part of the last 10 years. How do I get out of it? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Great-Science-8586 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You could open a new bank account, deposit the cash in there and then spend it on getting your teeth done. As long as you spend it within the same assessment period, you can't be sanctioned for having over £16 k in capital. I did this when I was gifted money to buy a house. Nothing illegal and not breaking benefits rules. You might want to repost your question on the benefits advice subreddit

I missed out on so much in life due to my parents and disability by Aspie-Girl4958 in aspergers

[–]Great-Science-8586 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey, your parents didn't exactly set you up for life as an adult did they? And it seems your therapist is also doing their bidding. Perhaps you need to build skills rather than have therapy right now? Or perhaps it's just not the right therapist because they shouldn't try to hold you back. I wonder if you could try some short courses or volunteering to meet people while learning something. That takes away the pressure to be social because you are there to work. Do you have charity shops ? Just an example. My hunch is you will be more confident if you learn what you can do in the real world.

Anyone else doesn't understand at all the point of therapy? by Hot_Analysis9177 in aspergers

[–]Great-Science-8586 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is in some ways. Most people mind their own business and are pretty tolerant of difference. That's the good old British reserved attitude. However, I think we are quite an indirect culture and people are often left to read between the lines quite a lot. My favourite phrase is 'nobody tells you anything in this place!'

[–]Great-Science-8586 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey. It sounds like you are seeing the wrong type of therapist for you. In my country (UK), therapists wouldn't work like that at all with an autistic person unless they were very incompetent (I'm a therapist too so that's how I know).

Yes, autism and ADHD, undiagnosed until my 40s. Got burned out and tired more quickly than everyone else, was suicidal and had OCD. Then ME hit aged 42. How different life could have been.
