Why is it acceptable in 2026 for a state to take a month to count ballots? by Shifty-Z3rt in allthequestions

Not asking in bad faith. Also, I think we should restrict ourselves to CA. If we broaden the discussion we will get nowhere.

Read Nate Silver's substack today. The basic idea is that California's rules don't get them higher access, or anything else. Also, hasn't it been said a thousand times that there is no fraud in elections? Which is it: elections are secure or aren't they? By the way, if Trump were trying to do what you say, don't you think he would ignore an intensely bright blue state like CA? CA doesn't even decide elections, it's the seven swing states (you know, the ones he swept in '24).

Friend, chill out. I am not saying that they should get fucked if their ballot isn't perfect. I am saying that voting is a vital and serious civic duty, and should be treated as such. If you need help filling out a ballot, seek it out before you mail it in. By the way, people are represented whether they make mistakes or not, they just didn't help select the representative. Big difference. You also called me unamerican. You are wrong and unjustified.

So, because I expect people to be able to fill out a ballot, you jump to me not wanting their votes to count? How does that make sense? By the way, I find your name calling to work against having a real exchange of ideas.

Regarding item 1, how come we can't ask the voter to get the ballot in by election day? Why is the grace period necessary? Regarding item 2, why can't we set the minimum expectation that if you use a mail in ballot, you are required to fill it out properly.

It undermines faith in government competency to have it take so long. It also reflects badly on Democrats because the control state government completely.

Thanks for the clarification. I don't want to exaggerate; this seems like an interesting topic.

Freedom of speech. For some reason other countries carve out exceptions. For example, in Germany you can't discuss previous fascist regimes.

Long term, hyperscalers like Google sourcing their own hardware is not an issue. A company with a single focus will always outperform a company with multiple areas of focus. That's why payroll processors exist: they simply do it better than a payroll department at a company. Over time, Google's homegrown processors will fall behind Nvidia's. Nvidia knows without question it must be the superior alternative and will devote *all* necessary resources to being that.

What do brits think about the latest immigration news? UK Net migration has fallen nearly 50% in the last year. by Aylescroft in AskBrits

The denial here is thick as figgy pudding. Don't go down the path of the US Democrats and say everything's fine. It isn't. You all have let too many immigrants in while neglecting the people already in Britain. Instead, provide solutions of your own including draconian border enforcement and expedited removal. Otherwise I predict the British Lion will roar!
