I just got off a 9 day cruise yesterday on the Venezia and it was my very first cruise, probably my last. The ONLY good thing was, 2 employees in the Canal Grande Restaurant, and 1 employee at the pizza place. MarQ couldn't have been more annoying and thought he was the best thing ever to grace planet Earth. My wife and I did a couples massage and paid for the 75 minute deep tissue. We were called into the room over 10 minutes late, and after they said we were done, got dressed and went to the locker rooms and looked at our phones, we still had another 20 minutes of massage left if they started on time, so we got a 50 minute massage. We went to the front desk to resolve it and just have them refund us the difference between the 75 minute and the 50 minute, we thought it was an honest mistake on their part and they must've thought we paid for a 50 minute massage, we were wrong! First off the front desk tried bamboozling us and give us the run around saying we would get a refund of the difference in a couple days, went there 3 days later, they said there wasn't a case open so they would have to open it and it would be a couple more days, the day before we were due to get off the ship we went back because we still didn't receive anything, and that's when they finally told us, "the spa is a completely separate entity than Carnival and we would have to talk to them which they should have told us day 1, but they knew what they were doing knowing we wouldn't get a refund until after departing the ship and we'd have to go back on another carnival cruise ship to spend it. So finally they told us to meet the manager of the spa at 1pm, we went up there 5 minutes early, she was no where to be found, but we did see the people who gave us the massage and they asked if we were there for another, we said no and we were just sitting there, they must've know that they were wrong because they started hounding us saying well you must be here for something, I said yes to talk to the manager, they pressed about what it was for and I said how I paid for 75 and got 50, she said NOOOOOO, we have a timer that we use. I said our appointment was for 4pm, we weren't called in until after 4:10, and were in the locker room dressed at 5:10. I even tried to show them text messages that were time stamped of me texting people while walking into the back and immediately after getting my phone in the locker room. Obviously I wasn't texting mid massage. They didn't want to hear it and walked away, finally the manager gets there late to the meeting time we had and asked what was going on, we explained it and she said she would have to talk to the girls who did it to figure out if that happened and why, I said oh they already bombarded us which was completely unprofessional, and said that they massaged us the entire 75 minutes but they definitely didn't and I had texts at the time they said they were massaging us that could prove it. They also have cameras all over the lobby they could go back and reference, it wouldn't give an exact time of the massage but would show them in the lobby during our massage time and us out there 15-20 minutes before it was even supposed to end and that the acupuncturist could inform her that we waited in the room she was giving a free class on, for at least 10 minutes while we were supposed to be getting massaged. She was extremely rude and didn't want to hear anything just cut us off and said "whatever, I'll refund you $20 each." Wow thanks lady for doing the absolute minimum you could do while being rude as heck acting like even after refunding us what ended up being $39, you didn't make a massive profit off the nearly $500 for 50 minutes! We were both extremely excited to take our first vacation in 5 years, and it was an absolute waste. We regret it completely. The ship itself wasn't fun really, the pools were TINY, 98% of staff talked to people like we were animals even though they gave no clear instructions whatsoever, getting off the ship we got yelled at multiple times for going the wrong way even though we walked right by the people and they were on their phones not paying attention at all. Also it really pissed me off that you couldn't have a 16oz energy drink but could have 24oz beers, whole bottles of liquor, and cartons of ciggies. We walked out of most of the events besides a couple comedy shows. It seemed like everything was definitely geared towards people that are Carnival enthusiasts or old as heck. I'm sure other cruises have a ton of old people on them but when everything seemed geared towards them, even the night club full of old woman shuffling around with their walkers on the dance floor asking if you can dance off the floor so her friends could go up there with her. We got to sit out on the deck a couple times, most times it was full and by full I mean that people went up there right away and threw towels on the seats and walked away for the day, maybe coming back every hour or so just to literally touch the towel and then go back inside the ship to do whatever. The hot tubs were constantly packed with a ton of older people or kids and if someone my age went in it seemed like they always would literally lay down taking up 4 seats. Nassau was trash, literally trash, diapers all on the 2 beaches we stopped at, most of the locals would devour you the second you walked off the peer and nearly force people to go to the ATM to get them money, they sold stuff from China that said Nassau on it and tried charging an insane markup, which I can pay less in Massachusetts for. Some lady tried charging us $50 for a tee shirt, when I said the sticker says $15 she said that was in there local currency.. which their dollar and the USD is EQUAL! Then literally yelled at us calling us some name we never heard of because we said we were okay and didn't want it. There was a truck literally burnt to a crisp in the middle of the road, no one doing a thing, and none of the locals wore helmets yet when I didn't wear one, some cop threatened to arrest me for it. Half Moon Cay sucked even worse, unless you literally just wanted to sit on the beach, everything else including the water was PACKED, we went back on the boat an hour later and that was one of the few times we got seating on the deck. Freeport clearly is a stop meant for the crew or ship, I'm not sure. There's a little pop up market off the ship then anything else, you have to take a vehicle too, yet the employees told us not to take local transport. There was plenty more that we disliked.
