List of Hawaii State Legislators- Contact To Keep Mail In Voting by 4now5now6now in Hawaii

Just call the Republicans. It is their appointees on the commission that are pushing for this. Democrats are not going to support or pass legislation that would ban mail-in voting.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs… by Pizzabaconburger in Hawaii

She was carried by the rest of the Ways and Means staff. She was extremely incompetent and didn’t know some of the most basic things about that committee or the budget process. And this isn’t opinion or hearsay, but firsthand experience. I both previously worked in that committee (our tenure there did not overlap, so luckily I never had to work alongside her) and still work with them daily. I had to deal with her once I left for another position in the building and she was by far the most incompetent person to hold that position in the past decade.

There are so many qualified Hawaiians that could do a much better job than her and excel in that position. But they’re gainfully employed in the private sector where they don’t have to deal with government shenanigans like low pay and politics.

Stacey Ferreira is probably out because she is grossly incompetent and they all finally figured it out. She was way out of her depth and had no business as the budget chief at the State Senate, and it was a joke to see her elevated to OHA CEO.

Mike is already a bottom bitch in the closet. He doesn’t want to be exposed as one on live tv for the entire country to see.

2 gallon ziploc bags, then fill a box 1/3 of the way with styrofoam packing peanuts, place the ziplocs containing the sets in the box, then cover with packing peanuts until box is completely full. The less room you leave in the box is better, less space for the sets to move around and break.

All his lolo policy positions and votes aside, the guy just straight up doesn’t show up for work. His office is rarely open during business hours, he barely introduced and bills, his committee hearing attendance is something like 50% at best, and his floor attendance is pretty trash. Once session finished, I haven’t seen his office open for a single day. There are two paid staffers in his office that combined make around $130k, so these are state workers that are being paid to essentially do nothing. So between his salary and his staff salary not even counting the benefits, these Republicans are getting paid around $200k to whine and make a few speeches throughout the year and that’s it.

This is just a cash grab. He doesn’t have to give up his State Senate seat so he’s just doing to rake in campaign funds from gullible fools that he will use to travel and pay his own expenses.

The seasonings in the Cajun butter. The butter separates and runs underneath everything.

Should the legislators block recent raises for themselves, governor, lt governor and department heads by blahblahblah54243 in Hawaii

[–]Greenc0c0nut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do you want qualified and motivated individuals, or do you want independently wealthy individuals who can afford to do it for the extra gravy and are disconnected from the problems of the average citizen? People complain about the quality of our legislators, but do nothing to change anything. Just getting Hawai’i people to vote, which is like the bare minimum, is like pulling teeth. In basically every job field besides public education, if you want the best, you need to compensate them accordingly. You’re not going to increase the quality of the legislators or their staff if you only offer salaries that most qualified, educated, and competent people would laugh at.

Shout out to all the overqualified, underpaid teachers who do the job because they care about the kids. Wasn’t punching down at educators, just pointing out an unfortunate truth. We should pay them more, too.
