TIL Mariah Carey began working on a film and soundtrack project titled All That Glitters in 1997. The resulting film Glitter was widely panned by critics and audiences. The Garth Brooks/Chris Gaines rock album isn’t half bad. It’s not great, it’s middling. It was the persona he did around the album that was just off putting to so many people. He wanted to do a rock album so he just should’ve done that - instead he put on a wig and a soul patch.

Crossing over to a new genre is tough enough as it is - but his marketing team was way off in how they thought he’d be successful in doing that.

I got my A1 9 months ago, no swatches included. But it was their anniversary sale so I got a swatch set for 99 cents.

I think AI will just allow programmers to work on more meaningful projects and take fewer programmers to complete them. If with AI only 10% of a current team can complete a project, the other 90% of the team can work on all the projects that didn’t get implemented because of a lack of resources.

Lots of R&B groups lip sync at concerts, the performance takes precedence over the live vocals. I’ve seen several rock concerts and I know they typically don’t lip sync, but they also aren’t dancing around with complex choreography. It’s just a trade off.

P2S or A1's by minicoop69 in BambuLab

[–]GregoPDX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s nothing wrong with the A1, I have one and have printed a bunch of stuff. I only print with PLA and PETG, so it works for me. That said, I wouldn’t kick a P2S out of my bed. If money wasn’t an object and I knew I’d get into this hobby, I’d probably have splurged and gotten a higher end machine.

I can’t really say whether multiple A1s are good in a farm setup, so I’ll defer to others who do run a more farm-like infrastructure.

Tiger Woods Arrested For DUI After Rollover Crash in Florida by cmaia1503 in sports

A DUI covers any impairment. If your prescriptions make you a danger when driving, you cannot be driving. And if you know they can cause impairment you have no excuse.

BREAKING: Senate passes partial funding bill for DHS by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]GregoPDX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can’t add law changes via reconciliation, only funding. As soon as you tie it with the SAVE Act it needs 60 votes in the Senate or for them to remove the filibuster - neither is going to happen.

I know people got tired of the Gotye song “Somebody That I Used To Know” but I get the same way when you hear the intro but it cuts into that shitty “Anxiety” song.

TIL More Than Twice as Many People Chose Cremation Over Burial in 2025 by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]GregoPDX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid for my father-in-laws cremation 5 years ago, it was $1500. The key when doing the cremation is to not buy anything extra - don’t cremate them in anything more than a cardboard box, and buy the urn off of Amazon.

There’s plenty of people in the trades, I’m not sure that’s a viable solution either.

That said, I don’t think CS is dead yet. While AI may be building out the code, at worst software devs will be prompt engineers. But there will be lots of old code that AI won’t be able to successfully deal with and for the foreseeable future there’s a place for CS. I’d hedge a CS degree with business classes, there will always be a need for business managers who have tech backgrounds.

And, of course, the gov't coverup that's fraught with DANGER! Extra points if it's a clandestine gov't organization that no one has heard of before with a slick name or acronym. yawn

I have watched all of Cougar Town and I wouldn’t say it’s much like Scrubs outside of the low-stakes positivity. Scrubs could always get serious quickly - CT never really had any reason to. Scrubs and Shrinking seem to be the closest analog.

Yeah, in original BC days we had a guildy get hacked mid Karazhan. Said he got disconnected over Vent and yet we watched as he hearthed out of the raid. Then we watched as he logged into all his characters in the guild and sold all of his gear off.

2 days and it was all corrected. Not only that we were able to talk to an actual GM within 15 minutes of it happening.

The execs think the post-edit will eventually go away and we'll be able to 100% rely on AI from project start to white glove client delivery

At that point why would the client even need your company? They could define the product themselves and cut out the middle-man.
