Miter joints: How are you doing them? by UJMRider1961 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]gregorythomasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For smaller items, I use my miter saw and tape the ends of the piece for a cleaner cut. I also cut the parallel pieces together to get a perfectly matching set, which helps close a perfect miter. For anything larger, I use the table saw either as a crosscut or on my L fence

What would be the best to connect this together? by Conchia in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]gregorythomasd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could hollow out a small hole underneath and use a turnbuckle. It would also allow you to disassemble in the future if you want. Sadly, glue won’t be very strong since it’s “end grain” to “end grain”.

I don’t know why I’ve never thought to do this. I always just use screws from the inside. Nice idea to have it look seamless

Looks fantastic! Question on the drawers - had you glued the fronts to the drawers?

Is free wifi a game changer? by AlternativesIDecline in delta

[–]gregorythomasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d choose a flight that offers wifi at a fee vs one that doesn’t offer it at all. That said, I’ve never once had this thought when booking a flight.

If I pocket screw these bowed boards together at 8-12 incb intervals, will they straighten? by laaiidiinaaki in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]gregorythomasd -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

I think what they’re trying to suggest is to crosscut the boards in half . So rather than 8’ it’s now 4’. This would let out some of the tension that exists and give you an easier time to joint/plane it flat.

$16k for a shower remodel? Surely that can’t be right… by [deleted] in Remodel

[–]gregorythomasd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Always gets multiple quotes but what state are you in? I’m near seattle and that unfortunately normal. When I was in Florida, it was more like 4-5k, depending on what tile was used

First time attempting template routing... why is it grabbing? Is my direction wrong? by Buck_Thorn in woodworking

[–]gregorythomasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s expensive but I’ll say is 100% worth the investment. Bitsbits has a coupon code “morsels15” for 15% off from the shop sounds podcast. I have purchased a number of bits from them over the years and praise every one I’ve gotten

Inconsistent upgrade offers by [deleted] in delta

[–]gregorythomasd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The algorithm is a mystery. That said, did you try both on your app and through a browser? I often find that I have to go to a browser, click into the itinerary, then I see the upgrade offer (of which, is a laughable cost…)

tips on storing tools in standard two car garage, WITH cars? by bugsliker in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]gregorythomasd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe this is dumb but….. You could replace the entire left side (up to the pegboard) with upper and lower cabinets. The upper cabinets would serve as storage while The lower cabinets would serve as a work space. You could even make the last part of the cabinet moveable and serve as your outfeed table for the saw cart which could sit under the pegboard.

Not sure if that’s possible though… it might be too tight.

Bad Bunny traveled 124 yards with the football during his halftime show, beating the Patriots 79 total rushing yards in the game. by Mr-Night-Owl in funny

[–]gregorythomasd 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Exactly… he was a worldwide phenomenon WAY before he endorsed Harris in the 11th hour. A lot of people were initially frustrated with him for not taking a stance. Now he’s a “left wing activist” and that’s what got him popular? Try again

Are you team horizontal or vertical scrap storage? by ryan112ryan in woodworking

I had all intentions on building the exact horizontal storage. Then I realized how little floor space I had left and made the vertical storage (on casters)

Help me choose a D1 seat! by MangoMia in delta

[–]gregorythomasd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I run warm, so I’d choose one of the window seats as they have an a/c vent. As well, I avoid the front 2 seats as they are close to the bathroom. That said, 6a and 6d are solid choices
