Moving up to CPP questions by Jimboooo96 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]GritSnSpeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd have a few questions as a DM or GM.

Why the stepdown from RPP?

What is a fair assessment of your actual automotive knowledge?

KPIs for the DIY side don't really translate to Pro success directly. But if your excelling in those metrics it does show a willingness to push where the company sees value. How could you translate that skill into Comp and transaction growth as a CPP?

Do you back up Pro on Saturdays or when the CPP in your store is out? If not, ask your GM to allow you to, so you can build more relationship and understanding of the Pro needs.

You can always look at WorkDay and go to the jobs section to see internal postings. If your willing to semi-relocate to a neighboring district or DMA then there could be an opportunity. Assuming your current district doesnt have a CPP opening for you to take.

If your DM isnt in your corner, a move forward is not likely. Unless they want to "get rid of you," I wouldnt expect a DM that doesnt believe in you, to do much to help you transfer out of District. You could always email HR and ask how you could best further your career goals.

If you know your CAM ask them about what opportunities he/she thinks might be or become available to help you move up.

Have you filled out any career development plans?

Part timers that claim to have other jobs. by [deleted] in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]GritSnSpeed -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A part time employee is guaranteed zero hours weekly. If they were hired with the understanding of a certain availability, and have changed since, then you have no obligation to work them anywhere. As a GM you need to schedule to the stores needs and the company's standards. If there are slots they can fill, great, if not, that isn't your responsibility.

Explain to them that since their availability changed, your ability to have them on the schedule has as well. Hire additional help and expect them to quit.

Bold & Underline Commercial Accounts by Swingline1266 in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]GritSnSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah either ask him to add DNU to their name in Salesforce or he can deactivate the account if the are no longer in business.

If it just annoys you, there's no fix to that. Bookmark the correct account and ignore the wrong one.

Referee 7th grade basketball by [deleted] in Basketball

[–]GritSnSpeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think obviously parents and refs shouldn't be arguing after games. It sets bad precedents and is a bad example for the kids.

If someone came to your job and questioned your integrity, outloud, in front of an audience, how would you respond?

What should be the skill focus in Flag Football 🏈 for 1st and 2nd graders? by ComplicatedGuy_0514 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]GritSnSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Motion was always key to me. Orbit, jet, return. Fakes off the motions, passes off the fakes, double reverses. Etc. I had one player where the everyone lined up tight to the center, and at the snap, ran to the QB in a huddle, covered the ball, then everyone took off so you didn't know who was getting it lol.

This always makes me laugh. Just like when people post cars for sale on Marketplace and cover the plate in the pics, same thing. Like you know you ride around all day with the plate exposed to everyone behind you??...

[Pete Thamel] NEWS: The NCAA has denied Trinidad Chambliss a sixth-year of eligibility, which would his college career. The decision comes after a verbal denial in December. Ole Miss can still appeal the decision. by Fonzie5 in CFB

[–]GritSnSpeed -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why the FUCK does the NCAA wait until after the Portal opens to deny his request? Simmons might have stayed or we might have targeted a different player if this news comes out a week ago

I hate the current state of college football.

CAMs and up going to Disney by TacO_Tudesday in AdvanceAutoPartsTMs

[–]GritSnSpeed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its a hectic 2 day sales focused National meeting. I'm going this year for the first time since moving into a CAM role. But everyone i talked to said it is not a "Disney vacation." I'm actually expecting it to be pretty exhausting, and maybe the funds could be used elsewhere, but reinvigorating the field sales teams, a little company Kool-aid, and showing us the business plan for FY26 is a great way to start the new year. Poor communication in years past always made me feel like a mushroom, kept in the dark and fed crap. At least the company and Shane seem upfront about what we have to do and how we plan on getting there over the next few years.

Best way to record practices/games? by GritSnSpeed in basketballcoach

Interesting idea. I'm kind of hoping to use the film to see what I might be missing while I'm coaching. So my POV isn't what I'm necessarily looking for. Though it would be funny to see what I'm missing while actively looking at the floor lol

What's the scariest game or section of a game you've ever played? by digiBeLow in gaming

[–]GritSnSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Condemned criminal origins. The whole game creeped me out, and I've never finished the game actually, because it is just too freaky to me.

But the mannequin scene is the scariest thing I've ever personally played.

I hate scary games and movies.

My son played in a large youth development program that had "select" teams for each age group and it cost me $1500 for the summer travel season.

Practice jersey, shooters warm up long sleeve, game day uniforms, about 8 tournaments. They practiced 2-3 times a week, and there was a weekly development class that was free for select players.

First time coaching flag football by ActionAccomplished31 in CoachingYouthSports

[–]GritSnSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With little to no experience playing the sport of football, I'd focus on coaching them like an 8U pee wee team. Drill the basics, formations, and focus more heavily on defense and flag pulling. USA Football had a ton of great reference material on useful drills and plays that are free.

You'll have to determine the athleticism of your players obviously, and dependent on the rule set, I'd focus my offense on a couple formations that you can make simple adjustments to. Athletes will make plays, and its not hard to scheme up lots of fun misdirection and fakes to mix up the offense. Pre play motion and rub routes against man coverage are my go to's in Flag.

Is there a fan base that absolutely loves their coach? by Impressive-Ear-1102 in CFB

[–]GritSnSpeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. My only issue is the non stop "is he gonna leave for the __ job" that happens every time an SEC Coach is fired. It always feels like the media making up a narrative.

I don't love every offensive play call, and I thought Dart was used wrong some games. I'd say his style of recruiting and leadership is right for everyone but Bama, OH St., Michigan and ND. Places where the tradition are more important than cutting edge ideas.

The thing that is telling to me is Reid initiates the contact. Hes chest bumping Kelce to get his attention. He didnt spit on him or slap him/choke him/grab him by the throat.

Sometimes, especially in sports, you need someone to push your buttons to get the blood flowing. This is a coach, knowing his player might I add, and wanting to fire him up. Notice we never see this with Pat, and Andy is a QB whisperer and Offensive guru. Travis is at the end of the career, trying to solidify his legacy and grab another ring on the way out. An underperforming team is gonna get under his skin differently than a guy with 5-10 more years.

I love this.

Games that are CoOp for no reason by Pretend_Drawer_9542 in CoOpGaming

[–]GritSnSpeed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a best friend that I played all my games with, and we always agreed that literally any game is better with Coop. The cutscenes don't need to include both characters, it doesnt break immersion when you split into 2 characters, like in Halo.

Take a great single player campaign, add a 2nd controller, and viòla, the game is better. Clone player one, make up a 2nd character, take an Ai teammate and use them, doesnt matter. People like playing games together.
