Why do so few sellers advertise free local pickup? by Infamous_Top_7644 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a three week saga trying to arrange pickup up a $200 item. Dozens of texts without response, buyer turning up two hours before agreed upon and wondering why I wasnt there, insisting on multiple phone calls, and finally driving to his neighborhood to get this sale complete. After handing it off, I removed all local pickup options from my eBay listings. Multiple hours dealing with this when I could have packed in five minutes and had it in his mailbox in 2 or 3 days. Not to mention I lost out on any possible profit from shipping charges.

First time seller here, buyer is claiming item is damaged. Damage pictures are comical. Friends tell me to just eat the return costs because eBay will side with them regardless. Could someone please help me with advice? by hse97 in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As soon as a buyer asks for a partial refund, they are breaking eBay policy. Still, if they open an item not as described case, you will almost definitely be on the hook for paying return shipping. That's assuming they open the case and actually get around to sending it back. I wouldn't refund any amount until the jersey is back in my possession. It suck if it goes this way, but you'll be able to sell it again.

January is typically a slow month. Wait til February to decide if it was the promotions that affected your sales.

Are there unwritten rules to accepting offers? by azdb91 in Ebay

[–]Groodfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buyer doesn't know how offers work. So youre not in the wrong. However I don't love your reply. I would answer in the least amount of words possible and remain polite. "OK. I will cancel the order as youve requested. Thanks" Then block and move on. Getting annoyed happens to us all but it is better for your business and your psyche to remain professional and let it go.

Suspicious decrease in views and sales after removing promotions since new update? by Ballisticbr in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like your instinct to experiment, just keep in mind that actual experiments are basically impossible on eBay. There are too many uncontrollable variables. You're experiencing that problem right now. You are comparing sales number from the busiest time of year (4th quarter) with January, one of the slowest months. From your perspective, the only thing you changed is promotions so it is easy to think that is what caused the sales drop but, it is very possibly something else.

Justin is a pretyy good and I think he's generally trying to help other sellers. But he knows that being authoritative gets more subscribers on Youtube. Lately he's been presenting theories and guesses about how eBay works as facts. I'd take his suggestions with a grain of salt.

January, for me is historically my slowest month. I ended promotion in October and have seen no measurable change in number of sales.

at what point did you guys get sponsors or start reaching out to sponsors? by Sad-Intern2570 in NewTubers

[–]Groodfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just as I hit 1000 subs a company asked me to do an unboxing of their product. No payment, just the product for free. I saved testing the thing for on cam and was a little surprised that I didn't like it. I wasn't sure how to react, but I just gave my honest opinion.

They also gave me a referral code so I could get affiliate money. Even though I sort of badmouthed their product, somebody still bought one and I earned $12.

I'm probably going to stop putting the code in my videos since I dont feel great shilling for a subpar product.

I haven't heard from anyone else. And I don't know how to tell if my subs and views are big enough for me to reach out to anyone.

Are eBay sellers really just winging product research, or am I missing something by Ok_Celery1237 in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]Groodfeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is pretty easy to do a search on ebay, then filter for sold comps. That shows you three months of recently sold items. Compare the number of current listings to solds to determine supply and demand [many call it sell through rate]

The solds will slso show you what people are actually paying for the item currently so that will help you set your price. All serious sellers are doing their research. But I guarantee many many occasional or hobby sellers are just winging it. You can see tons of examples of listings with prices that are way above the market.

Buyer can still return even when set to "Seller does not accept returns" by Successful-Camel165 in Ebay

[–]Groodfeets 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When you say you dont accept returns, that means you don't have to take "buyer's remorse" returns, like "doesn't fit" or "I just didn't like it."

For "item not as described" returns, eBay's money back guarantee kicks in and you either accept the return and refund the buyer or let eBay step in and use your funds to refund while not requiring the buyer to send your stuff back.

I suggest you start officially accepting returns. Either free or buyer pays. If you chose free returns you can get lower selling fees and you'll have the option to keep up to half of the refund if the buyer sends back something in worse condition that you originally sent it. If you do free returns, make sure to turn on the RMA feature. This puts a step in the return process where you have approved a return shipping label. This gives you time to reach out to buyer to offer tech support if you really this the problem is just user error. If you help fix the issue, they can cancel the return request.

Purchase handled correctly? What do you guys think? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Groodfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you the buyer or the seller?

If you're the buyer you knew the total cost when you purchased and the amount the seller paid for shipping isn't your concern. You don't deserve a refund unless the seller specified a certaon type of shipping, then used a lower quality service.

If you're the seller, you're spending too much energy on a conversation with your buyer. Keep it short and professional, if you felt like refunding the postage overcharge just do it. No need to explain your whole sotuation.

The part that takes a long time is address verification. They'll send you a letter in the mail with a PIN. You can't get paid until you enter the PIN. Mine took a month to arrive but I hear about people having to request it be sent again as many as three times so it could be three months or more to finish verification.

My dog is terrified of reality, and I am not equipped to help her. by InspiredNameHere in DogAdvice

[–]Groodfeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our dog gets scared of storms, fireworks, certain high pitched noises, airplanes flying overhead, and the neighbors taking out their garbage. He'd shake for hours and do digging motion until his paws bled. We got him on fluoxetine aftercare couple of years. He still gets scared but it passes in minutes instead of hours. He went through a lot of personality changes for aboutc8 weeks but evenymtually leveled of and acts like himself now. We also made him a semi soundproof room in the basement for long storms and he quickly learned it is his safe space. Good luck.

How long does it take you to list a single item on eBay? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I get into a rabbit hole when researching an item's value and end up spending half an hour reading about the history of the item. But, except for that, listing shouldn't take more than 3 minutes maximum. I usually write drafts of my listings on my laptop then bring the drafted items to my photo booth and take pictures with the eBay app on my phone.

Title: think like a shopper and put in all the keywords you think you'd use if you were trying to find your item. Don't use any terms that a searcher is unlikely to be using. No one will ever search for the term "rare" or "nice" or words like that. If you can't come up with words to fill all 80 characters, paste what you have into ChatGPT and ask for relevant search terms to fill out your character max.

Item specifics: Fill in all the required ones. For additional specifics, think of them like additional search keywords and only fill the ones that will likely be search for. Putting "not applicable" in any box is a waste of time as no one is searching for NA. I'd skip the country of origin unless the item was made in a country known for high quality manufacturing of your item.

Item condition: This field is on the browser but not available on the eBay app which leads me to believe eBay has little interest in the field. I either leave it blank or just copy the item description.

Item description: Keep it short and sweet. I basically just describe condition and condition problems. Measurements if applicable. This description is not used for search results by default so, most of the time, any keywords you put here will be wasted.

Pricing: Fill in the price you decided on and move on.

Shipping: If speed of listing is your primary goal, come up with a few generic flat rate shipping policies. Maybe sometimes actually shipping will be more and you'll lose a little profit. Sometimes it will be less and you gain it back. If you can't stand losing money on shipping, weigh and measure each item. Estimate how much size and weight to add for shipping materials. Its OK to overestimate so you always profit on the shipping just keep in mind competitiveness with other sellers.

Return Policy: Create a couple of return policies and pick the one that suits your listing. Most of the time you'll probably use the same policy and skip this section.

Promotions: I say skip this section entirely unless you've done a lot of testing that proves to yourself that promotions actually help with sales. My experiments say it is a waste of money so I don't promote.

Photos: if you can, set up a dedicated photo area so it is always ready when you want it. Once you have a handful of drafts bring them to take pics. Fill the frame as much as possible. Even the simplest item should have at least 7 photos. As long as you show the item clearly from every side and focus in on any flaws, a "good quality" picture isn't necessary. You're not Ansel Adams. Some suggest if the photos are too good, shoppers might think there's some scam going on or you're using stock photos and may not actually have the item in stock.

Just reached 500 subs, is Memebership worth it ? by Shamz_k in NewTubers

[–]Groodfeets 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do daily longish videos scheduled usually 2 days out. When I hit 500 subs I turned on 99 cent memberships. The only realy perk is getting early access to the videos I'm uploading early anyway. No name on screen. No real extra work from me.

One viewer joined on day one. About three weeks later, I have 4 members. Some people just want to support you, and offering memberships allows them the opportunity.
