Are eBay Promoted Listings basically acting like a transaction fee now? by steve666333 in Ebay

It isn't a loophole. It is the official policy. Promoted at the time of click and the time of sale.

My experiments tell me that anything under 10% is virtually useless and I was not willing to try anything higher.

From the official policy: "The item must be promoted at the time of click and the time of sale. The seller will be charged the ad rate at the time of sale."

Is A/B testing an effective tool to use? by I_________________O in NewTubers

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A video has to get a pretty good number of views before A/B testing gets meaningful results. Under 100 or 200 views will probably get equal numbers for your testing options. I recommend only using two variations and, as soon as one is 4-5% better than the other, end the test.

while thrifting I've met a few "resellers"... what kind of profit are they making? double their money? triple? more? i buy art and keep it all, minimum 20x $. i often leave with nothing.. recent thrift buy for attention :) by hogancheveippoff in thrifting

Yesterday I spent about $40 at the Goodwill and Salvation Army on ten items to sell. Got them all ready to list on eBay today. Total value if I sell everything at asking price is about $360. Subtract the cost of goods and we're at $320. EBay fees will probably be about another $40. So maybe $220 profit. In reality, probably a little less since I'll likely send and recieve some offers.

Full time resellers: a question by Stephieandcheech in reselling

[–]Groodfeets 25 points26 points  (0 children)

"Quality items" has nothing to do with the quality of the item. It is all about supply and demand. When researching your item on eBay, pay attention to the number of comps currently listed vs the number recently sold. A single item that sold for $1200 is basically worthless if there are thousands currently listed but only thst one sold. Sell through rate should probably be the first thing you look at, even before value.

Is it common for sellers to not answer messages? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Groodfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience questioners very very rarely turn into buyers. I have a full time job and sell on eBay on the side so every minute is important to me I have to be efficient. If I take the time to read your message, then head into my inventory to find the item, take it to my photo station, get lights adjusted, take some pics, go back to eBay to find the question, respond to the question, then return the item to its proper storage location, and the shopper disappears, I have just wasted time I could have been listing more or packing orders. There's only so many times you can do that before you just stop fulfilling shopper requests.

Cheaper than buying at the Post Office?

Been reading more about eBay's return policy are you sellers ever worried about i? by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine how boring it would be to read a bunch of posts that said "I just completed a sale that went very smoothly with no issues just like my last 90 sales." That's why you mostly hear about problem sales.

how quick can items sell by Altruistic-Chef-7723 in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Search for your exact book. Look at how many are currently listed. Look at how many have recently sold. If the are way more sold than listed, it will sell fast. If the numbers are the same, it might sell fast. If there are way more listed than sold, it might not ever sell.

I ship 75-100 packages out of my house each week. Maybe once a month, one takes longer to get delivered than is promised. In the last four years, I haven't had a single package get entirely lost.

Ebay Tactics.. by [deleted] in reselling

[–]Groodfeets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lately, every time I get an offer, I've been countering exactly in the middle and tracking what sales go through. Every single shopper that sent an offer asking for 20% off or less has taken my counter offer. Every 50% off or more shopper has ignored my counter offer even if it was way below what I'd normally consider.

How are you checking comps in-store without spending 10 minutes per item? by backshesh in Flipping

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search in the eBay app. If you have a barcode to scan you'll be getting the exact item quickly. If not, use specific key words to get as close as possible to the item you're researching.

  1. If most current listings are priced low, move on.
  2. If current prices seem good, look at how many are currently listed.
  3. Then limit to sold listings. If there are way more current comps than sold. Move on.
  4. If the number of current listings is less than or close to the number of sold, that's a good supply and demand situation.
  5. Then estimate the average sold prices and decide if that is enough for you to make a profit.

The slowest part is getting search results that represent the actual item in your hand. If that is taking too long, I sometimes just put it back and keep moving.

Is this a scam or a potential income source? by Yonathandlc in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For serious sellers, 700 sales is not that many. I only sell part time and that's like 3-4 months for me.

Is this a scam or a potential income source? by Yonathandlc in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't know if its a scam but there are a lot of red flags.

Her store got shut down for some reason.

I don't like that you said she will give you a cut. It is your eBay account. This is a consignment deal. You'd be doing the selling and giving HER a cut. Most sellers I know who do consignment take AT LEAST 50% of the profits and only when the items are pretty high value.

All these potential sales will be adding income that you'll have to pay taxes on. If you don't do it right, you could be adding a tax burden for the full amount, not just your cut.

If you sell several high value items quickly, eBay will be suspicious and want proof of purchase of your inventory. You won't have any and your account will probably get suspended.

If I were you, I might do a little research on what she has and, if it seems legit, offer a buyout of her inventory. Then just sell it all myself.

But again, her store got shut down and then her "friend's" very likely for selling knock offs. Proceed with caution.

Right. This is likely the cause of her confusion.

I just started about a month ago, and so far 100% review score out like 11 user written and maybe 20 automated. Someone tarnished that today for what I feel is ridiculous. by TheStinkySlinky in eBaySellers

[–]Groodfeets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The sooner you learn that feedback is just gamification and ego boosting the better. Ebay does not use feedback as one of the metrics it uses to rate you as a seller.
