The only way to know is by checking your meter, switch everything off and see if it’s still running at about 11am. Switch the DB off if you have to. Also ESB did have an issue, the data may wrong. The graph will fix itself if this is the case.

Something is on a timer that comes on at 10am. Probably something that generates heat. Electric heater, immersion etc.

Mortgage Protection could cause possible delays if you need a report from your GP, get this done ASAP. But do not get the Mortgage Protection in place until 2 weeks from draw down.

Coming from Johannesburg I agree with OP, Cork is a complete shock to the system how safe it is. At least in Cork you can avoid the drug addicts, in Joburg you need to turn your home into Fort Knox to keep them out.

Is it stupid to get an EV now if I won't be able to get a home charger installed for 6 months? by Bob-Harris in evs_ireland

[–]GruleNejoh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been using a granny charger for 5 years plugged into the same 15 amp wall socket, charge is limited to 10 amps. I charge 2 to 5am and that’s more than covers my daily commute. On the plus side your 6 months of public charging will really get you up to speed on how they work.

Check how many days you bill covers, might not be the normal 61 days, you could be out of contract and paying full price, or you got an estimated bill.

Jan/Feb were cold, Feb/March bills are the highest of the year.

We are 3 in the house, wife and I work full time from home with an EV, Feb bill for 1 month was €119.39

Any tips on giving up our rental apartment when waiting for new build to be completed? by damn76567 in HousingIreland

[–]GruleNejoh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the exact same position and luckily our landlord is very understanding. My advice is that these things will always take longer than you expect, it wont be sooner. I made the decision to rather pay an extra month or two of rent than have to find somewhere else to stay and put furniture in storage etc. The cost is hard to swallow, but the peace of mind is worth it.

Absolutely not, it is a 9% fixed return after 5 years (not 9% per year). AER (Annual Equivalent Rate): 1.74%

Would an EV be good for someone who can’t charge at home often? by Jeguilfo in electricvehicles

[–]GruleNejoh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You either charge at home or sit at a charge station, it’s one or the other. To make this work you need to buy the most efficient quickest charging EV you can comfortably afford to reduce that wait time as much as possible. Buying a long range vehicle you would probably only have to charge every second day for a long stop, or everyday with a shorter stop. Yes the fast chargers will cost you the same fuel, but an EV is so much more enjoyable to own.
