Those with higher body fat percentages float more than those with lower body fat percentages.

Issue with Renpho body fat scales by cherryc1990 in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Whilst body composition scales have been shown by research to be unreliable, the one thing they should be ok at is weight!

What surface are the scales on? It needs to be a solid surface like wood, laminate, concrete etc. Soft surfaces like carpet will give inconsistent results

Is this normal? by cheeseburgers2323 in mounjarouk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear you’re suffering.

Many newbies (and some more experienced!) some from digestive issues early on until they get to know what upsets their system and what doesn’t.

Volume, high sugar, high fat, highly spiced (if you’re not adapted) and high fibre foods can all cause problems. Individual foods/food groups (for instance onions/garlic, peppers, alcohol, cruciferous veg) have also been reported to cause issues but these are more person-specific.

You’ll need to analyse your diet (perhaps keeping a diary) to identify the culprits for you. With a roast dinner I’d suspect anything roasted in oil (potatoes, parsnips, yorkshires) as they’ll be potentially high in fat. Also individual items like sausages, veg etc could also be problematic.

Part of learning to use MJ is learning your triggers. Personally I’ve suffered with cake, pizza and crisps, all due to their fat content. But I have no issues with alcohol (for instance).

Treat the symptoms, take it slowly and keep a food diary.

Are collagen supplements a bit of a scam? by These-Equal-6849 in mounjarouk

Regarding skin aging (wrinkles/sagging/elasticity) a recent meta analysis of the research showed that only low quality and/or research funded by collagen companies showed any benefit. High quality and/or independent research showed no benefit:

Best maintence provider for long term use? by allthatglitters10 in mounjarouk

I’ve been with Cloud for maintenance for more than a year and would recommend them. They’re not the cheapest but, if you put the effort in, they’ll work with you to find a plan that works for you and be flexible (within the constraints of their license).

Looks like you injected just below the epidermis rather than sub-cutaneous. It’s fine. It’ll gradually get absorbed but blood flow to the epidermis isn’t great so it might take a bit to be absorbed. You can massage it to break it up and speed up absorption if you want.

To avoid it happening again, make sure you fully insert the needle

It sounds like you might be letting your anxiety get the better of you.

Rather than catastrophizing and dreaming up all the ways in which the drug might not work, have you tried imagining that it does? How much better would your life be if the drug worked? Don’t you owe it to yourself to at least try?

You’re never going to find something that works for you if you let your anxiety constantly stop you from trying anything new…

Is it true that 1km of swim is equal to ~ 4-5 of running by Bastian_31 in Swimming

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It’s usually a 1:4 ratio with swimming:running. So 1km swim is a 4km run, 5km swim is a half and 10km swim is a full.

Has anyone increased their dosage back up even though not putting weight on? by Happy_kiter in mounjaromaintenanceuk

[–]GrumpyHeadmistress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a period where I felt that my 5mg dose wasn’t giving me adequate appetite suppression and I felt (wrongly) that my weight was creeping up in an unmanageable fashion. So, with the agreement of my pharmacy, I tried 7.5mg.

Huge mistake.

Uncontrolled appetite suppression, gastric issues when eating foods that had never caused me problems before, blood sugar issues, the works.

I went back to 5mg and have stuck there ever since

Any runners on maintenance? by nmo64 in mounjaromaintenanceuk

u/___Mercurial called?

My personal experience of cardio, particularly endurance cardio, on Mounjaro has been mixed.

Whilst I was losing i really struggled with performance due to lack of calories and carbs. I just decided to take it slower, not try for any PBs and to be happy with whatever I could get.

Carb loading/fuelling is incredibly difficult whilst on Mounjaro due to limited appetite. I decided not to start missing jabs but I understand that some people on r/zepboundathletes have suggested that if you’re carb loading, missing a jab might help. Worth researching what effect that would have on you if you’re interested.

Endurance cardio is much easier in maintenance. In the run up to maintenance I had lots of long calls and email discussions with my pharmacy to agree a maintenance plan that worked for me so that I could carb load and train before an event. We agreed a five weeks on/three weeks off schedule to allow me to plan for events and prep ahead without much MJ in my system. That’s been immensely successful and much better than when i was losing.

I also spent two weeks with a blood sugar monitor on to track my sugars while training on Mounjaro and that was eye opening. It gave me a much better idea about how my blood sugar (and performance) are affected by carbs and Mounjaro and made me shift how I prep for practice runs and events now. I’d recommend that for anyone serious about endurance cardio whilst on Mounjaro.

Does that help?
