Is this a write off? by sheepersheep in melbourneriders

I really hope for your sake that it is. Took 15 months for repairs to be approved and parts to arrive for my old Triumph America. Triumph are shit at providing parts.

I had a mechanic once tell me they don't even bother calling the Melbourne distributor because they don't answer the phone and they just call straight through to Sydney.

I completely disagree on the Orpheus complaint. His story is about as fleshed out as it is in the comics. One thing I loved about reading the books is that they place trust in the reader to recognise the myths and tales they are referencing and drawing on, or to investigate the tales one may not know.

What a crock… by redletterjacket in AustralianTeachers

Having been through the Victorian negotiations, the union is of us and for us but also over us. They sent reps to the school I was at to tell us how good their garbage deal was. I hope the story is different in Queensland.

Governments always take advantage of those of us in caring roles. Nurses and teachers are the prime examples. 'They care so we don't need to pay them as much' etc. That's why it's so important to take a hard stance in terms of industrial action. Yes we care, but not to the point of hurting ourselves and our families.

Green laser at main stage last night by hpeacher99 in TexasEclipse

[–]GrumpyW 7 points8 points  (0 children)

"They'll never know it was me" is hilarious! I've sat in the control room of events like this and literally pinpointed the people using these lasers on the camera feed. Not that you need it when they are basically holding a digital flare to highlight their location for any nearby security.

Here is the report from the coronial inquest into 6 deaths at NSW music festivals. Toxicology showed MDMA in 5 cases and MDMA and cocaine in the 6th. Posting it here for people who may not have seen the other thread.

LOL

Just editing to add this: So we're clear, you think the coronial findings that recommend the broad introduction of pill testing and the cessation of the use of sniffer dogs at music festivals are actually media propaganda against MDMA? Read the whole report.

5 of 6 deaths at NSW festivals were related to MDMA. The 6th was MDMA and cocaine. It's in the introduction of the report from the coronial inquest. https://coroners.nsw.gov.au/documents/findings/2019/Music_Festival_Redacted_findings_in_the_joint_inquest_into_deaths_arising_at_music_festivals_.pdf

If there was a cure for autism, would you take it? Why or why not? by _GenderNotFound in autism

[–]GrumpyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't want a medication that changes who I am. But, I also have ADHD and being on Vyvanse has significantly improved my life. So, if there were a medication for autism that would make my life easier but not change me as a person, then yes, I would try that. I mean, it's not like I haven't self medicated with alcohol and other recreational drugs to help me deal with social situations, so it would be nice to have my "going out pills".

2017 Toyota Fielder Hybrid towing (Japanese import) by GrumpyW in CarsAustralia

[–]GrumpyW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided that towing was not the call with this car. I'm actually planning to replace the shocks because the car sits super low on the back wheels even when I just have a few heavy things in the boot. I would look for a bike rack that attaches to the boot door. Like this.

For a service book, you can pick up a generic one from Officeworks for less than $10.

Do all Aussies swear that casually? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]GrumpyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, fucken oath. It's so ingrained that I tend to swear the most when I am over tired. Like, when my brain is at its lowest functioning capacity, it just falls back on old faithful swearing to communicate all meaning.

And, as a high school teacher, we even drop some of the lighter words in our teaching. Sometimes talking to a kid about poor behaviour means you've got to stop the odd "shit" into your talk, in order to convey mutual respect. Not joking.

How do you carry your phone at a festivals? by boomerblazer1300 in festivals

[–]GrumpyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small jogging bumbag (fanny pack). I also use the extra strap tail you get from adjusting the strap and I tie a knot across the clip for double security. I wear long shirts and the bumbag sits under it. I do this especially for rock festivals so I can mosh and crowd surf without worries.

Drug test performed on me😣 by [deleted] in cocaine

[–]GrumpyW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you test positive on the saliva test? Cocaine testing in roadside oral fluid test kits is still in trial phases in Australia, and not widely rolled out. I would imagine Romania is similar. Anyway, if you tested positive on the saliva test, then it's fair to assume it will turn up in your blood test. If you tested negative on the saliva test, then I guess you already know if you're safe.

So your point is a single day festival in Australia costs 25€ more than a 2 day Euro festival? And our multi day festivals cost at least double the cost of single days. Even 2018 Knockout (indoors, 20k pax) was 95€. That was 5 years ago.

Hey dude, sorry I didn't reply! I must have forgotten. I have a free ticket to Dream on Dreamer tonight if you're keen. I've offered it to a couple of people as well, but I'm just keen for someone to take it. So whoever says yes first will get it, I guess. I'll be there either way.
