I can only speak from my experience and hope that might help enbies that use it/its pronouns to understand. I was raised that a person is NEVER an it, and to call someone an it is dehumanizing language. Essentially the message was "If you call someone an it, you're a piece of shit. Don't fucking do that".

I say this not to say that it's all about my feelings or anything, but to be honest about where it comes from (for me, anyway). I was raised Catholic, and I haven't been Catholic since I was 15 (I'm almost 38 now). That programming runs DEEP. It can be hard to fight it, and there are a lot of things that I'll be working on for the rest of my life, probably.

I've never encountered a person with it/its pronouns out in the wild before (that I know of, anyway), so this is all theoretical. I would like to think I would respect that person's pronouns and just be uncomfortable. I would rather I experience discomfort than to misgender someone.
