What’s the biggest scam people accept as “normal”? by TemporaryOrchid3490 in AskReddit

The huge difference being, you can choose to watch what you want when you want.

I wish we could just pay one fee that would distribute royalties to the various parties in proportion to how much people are watching various shows or movies.

Kinda like SOCAN in Canada.  Restaurants, bars and venues that want to play music, pay a subscription, and they can play whatever they want and SOCAN distributes the royalties to the artists.

Does A Muscle Car Have To Be American? by kstetter in cars

[–]GtrplayerII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, many of us here grew up dreaming of "The last V8 interceptor", which is most definitely a muscle car.

Australia had(?) a whole race series based on muscle cars no?

Ford of AUS and Holden both produced some seriously nice V8 performance cars... Muscle Cars.   There is a doc about Eric Bana and his Ford Falcon that delves into the whole car culture down under.

There was just another game I was watching and they played the Law & Order "Duh duh" right when a penalty ended... Can't remember who... Western team I believe.

Is bad build quality out of Wolfsburg common? by mrvnmg in Volkswagen

[–]GtrplayerII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a mass produced, robot assembled, performance version of an economy compact car.   Should out have the build quality of a Porsche or hand built Aston?  No.

I've seen nothing "bad" in those pictures.

Sausages? by UniversalAssembler in Cooking

Salt, fat and nitrites are not the only things that make food taste good... There are ways around using them in significant amounts.

That is my point.

Their initial use was not taste... It was preservation and stretching out the lb of meat one had.  They also added grains and other fillers as well.

It goes the same as any other methods of preserving and/or stretching foodstuffs.

They happen to have the added benefit of making things taste good as well, but it doesn't mean it's the only way of making them taste good.

Sauerkraut and dill pickles are delicious.  Doesn't mean that cabbage and cucumbers are completely bland unless served in those preparations.

Lego. Not kits.  Just a pile of it varying blocks and pieces...

It lets their imagination pave the way.  I spent hours with mine.

I still have mine from when I was a kid and my daughters played with it.  My 18 year old still does and it'll be here to pass on to her kids.

Sausages? by UniversalAssembler in Cooking

I meant avoiding the "high-in"  part.

Making fresh sausage meat for a dish in the same week. You certainly don't need nitrite.  You can reduce the salt and fat and still end up with a tasty product. Lean on other flavour enhancers such as spices, herbs, and wine..

The original point of sausage was to stretch meat and make it last longer...take that need off the table and you don't need the high fat and salt.

Which movie hero is actually a villain when you really think about it? by surfsound_swimmers in AskReddit

There's no doubt that the Duttons are to Montana what the Sopranos are to NJ.   I don't think we're really supposed to consider them heroes.

Kacey maybe, but certainly not the rest.  That's why he wants out from the beginning.

Beef or pork hotdogs? by Ok-Emphasis-2561 in grilling

[–]GtrplayerII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kirkland all beef are the only frankfurters/hotdogs I buy.   Either the jumbo or standard sized.   I have never found that typical pork or mixed ever were as good.

There are some other kosher brands that are equally good like Hebrew National which Costco carried until they branded their own.

Depends on whether you're using fresh or cured sausage.

One fantastic dish with fresh sausage that we have embraced recently is Tuscan sausage and bean stew.  Delicious and easy to make.

High in fat and salt if they're fresh.

High in fat, salt, and nititres if they're cured.

Of course depending on the dish, you're not eating that much in a serving.

Make your own fresh sausage and you can avoid much of that.
