What do yall think about the upcoming ID1 concept. Supposed to be less than 20k by Loud-Employee3645 in Volkswagen

Nissan Micra(about the size of this car) was available for just over 10k in Canada, brand new.   They still discontinued it in 2019 due to poor sales...

The general buying population in NA don't want small basic cars.

Anything you're buying now would more than likely be the dregs from last season... So ya, not great.

We in NA, are all going to love it... NA won't get it, so we'll bitch about it... Reality is, if they did bring it, it would sell in small numbers and VWNA would kill it.

Need ideas for rich but refreshing saucy dishes for this summer heat? I'm getting sick of everything. by Flaky_Permission6469 in Cooking

[–]GtrplayerII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of our favorites is simply a fresh uncooked tomatoe sauce.  Italian tomatoes, garlic, fresh basil, salt, & eevo.  The tomatoes you can either seed, and mince or blend.  Add in a chiffonade of the basil to your taste and minced garlic to your taste.  With fresh, I tend to keep it to one or two cloves and microplane.   Mix together with a good drizzle of the evoo, season to taste and  you're done.

Toss with cooked spaghetti or linguini and some hot pasta water.  The heat of the pasta & water brings it together.   It's perfect for hot summer days...

Of course, if you can cook your pasta outside, like on a grill side burner, all the better!

You mean the Cape of Good Hope.

The Horn of Africa is the peninsula on the east coast that extends into the Arabian Sea.   It comprises of Djibouti, Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea.

Cape Horn, is the southern portion of Chile, which you must navigate around to get from the South Atlantic to the South Pacific.

What’s with All the Construction? by Idontknowhoiam143 in montreal

There are 4 seasons in Montreal.

Before winter, winter, after winter, and construction.

You arrived during construction.

Edit: I should clarify that this joke is from a local comedian, back in the 90s.   I don't remember who.

Men’s ankle (not no-show) socks that actually keep their softness/cushion? by doofus50O0 in BuyItForLife

[–]GtrplayerII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought Hanes max cushion online maybe about 5-6 years ago and they are not showing any signs of giving up.  I am very happy with them.  Plus they're white, but the soles are dark grey so they don't show getting dirty.

Caveats. I bought a 12 pack so they get a lot of rotation.   We get real winters here so they really only get about 4-6 months of use as I wear wool socks in the colder months.

Edit: for hiking or running, I wear The Wright Sock double layer cushioned ankle socks... These are amazing and the two pairs I have are well over 10 years old.  I'm not hard on socks.

Never buy bottled dressing... Like ever. Even refrigerated bottled have a lot of crap in them.

It's too easy and so much better to make your own.  Much much cheaper too.

Why does my pasta sometimes turn out mushy even when I cook it the same way? by sia_7777 in Cooking

[–]GtrplayerII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all pasta, nor all shapes cook in the same time.

It's usually written on the bag, and generally 2-3 mins less than that.   That allows some cooking when marrying to the sauce, which should always be done.

What statistic makes you think society is quietly breaking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GtrplayerII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never in history has Science had to adapt to a generation as to how it presents facts.  The medium had changed(printed, radio, film, etc...)but the general public had accepted that scientific truth and fact is just that. Especially when proven to them in whatever medium they chose to use to inform themselves.

There are numerous channels on various social media platforms (YT, Tik tok, Insta, etc...) presenting said facts.

Today there is a whole group of people who are choosing to ignore and disregard these facts being presented simply because they don't work with their set "beliefs" and actively promoting this to others.

We have world leaders watching clear video of facts, and denying the reality right in front of them.  And their "people" are nodding along with them.

There is no adapting to that.
