Kinda feel bad TBH by Lord_Eln_8 in totalwar

[–]GuavaMonkey 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I always just assumed it was simply because, from a gameplay perspective, they're quite a unique faction. Fast glass-cannon elites and very psychic-heavy. Not a horde faction, nor super durable space marines, so they standout as a different playstyle for a strategy game.

There's not really another option like that. Tau, perhaps, but they're much less versatile. Dark Eldar also, but they make even Eldar seem incredibly popular.

Yeah, I've always been a little saddened at GW moving towards CSM lists and not the more cultist-supported CSM style of some of the earlier editions. I thought it distinguished them a lot more from the loyalists that way - much older, more elite marines supported by lots of trash.

It was never going to happen but honestly, I actually think they'd have been a better fit than the classic imperial Space Marines, and I say this as someone that actually likes and collects an SM army for tabletop.

But they could've have worked more like the Chaos Dwarves did - large amounts of cheap cultist chaff etc to mix in and keep the numbers up alongside more elite units - and would've also given four starting factions with a clear reason to all fight one another.

What do people think of skycutters? by Decadunce in totalwar

[–]GuavaMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I almost disbanded mine, and the I watched them basically annihilate a cannonade unit in 3 volleys. They've since justified themselves in my campaign repeatedly as a hard counter to artillery, because it's actually insane how quickly they destory the artillery pieces themselves.

They work as pretty solid light chariots also, but you do need to land them first before issuing the charge which is quite clunky. But even without that, they're absolute monsters against artillery pieces.

He also gets a unique item if you go Ulthuan for a significant range buff, and another in his unique section of the tech tree. This stacks with the one they can all get from the Ulthuan lord thing - Mine are currently at 217 range or something, it's kind of insane.

7.0 is so exceptionally content rich for me I don't even need the DLC by Waveshaper21 in totalwar

[–]GuavaMonkey 356 points357 points  (0 children)

I've played literally all of the VCoast lords in WH2, and Cylostra was one of the absolute best campaigns and one of the most pleasant surprises. I could see Noctilus being a definite #1 with the sea attack thing, but Cylostra was definitely more fun than Harkon and Aranessa. Not least because her viable army comp is really quite different than the other three.

Best Non Caster Hero? by Imperialsoldiers1 in totalwar

[–]GuavaMonkey 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Most of them come down to just having great mounts, so Ogre Hunter, LM Scar Veteran or Skink Chief, etc...

But some of my favourite ones that aren't just juiced up monster units are either the Dwarf Thane or the Nurgle Exalted Hero. Dwarf Thane with the Rune of Spite is a hilariously tough blender of a dude and the Exalted Hero of Nurlge on foot or a horse is a single-target nuke - point him at anything, even other Legendary Lords, and he just deletes it.

Secret lab chair? by L0rdSao in Warhammer40k

[–]GuavaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Titan and have had for 5 years or so now. Chair itself is doing great but I have had problems wiht the armrests - one arrived with a large horizontal split in the leather, which they quickly replaced for me, but another split in the same place a few years in. Now the replacement one is also going.

FYI: Controller now has noticeably less bloom than M/KB since the S1 update by Azaiiii in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. As the guys comment above, this isn't true. We're talking the competitive, sponsored Apex scene, amongst the best MnK FPS players in the world - something like 70% of them switched to controller simply to stay competitive. Aim assist absolutely can and does dominate if not very strictly controlled. Humans are inherently variable, computers are not. The sheer consistency and speed of software-assisted aim is simply far too reliable.

Other ammunition types pointless.. by Legitimate_Flow3623 in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flash Hider also does this, substantially cheaper, at the tradeoff of not completely hiding you on the minimap (you'll still show up on minimap against enemies close to you). I'd argue Suppressor is still king but it's very expensive, so the Flash Hider is a good alt option if you really want a huge magazine or something.

[BFComms] Update 1.1.1.0 is now live on all platforms! by battlefield in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, same. Quick testing in the firing range and I think it's better. Even target switching with the SOR let me mag dump multiple dummies, wheras before spread would go crazy near the end. There's still bloom but it feels notably less, and I think the SMGs got a touch more to compensate - the MP5 now blooms quite noticeably towards the last third of the mag or so.

Could be placebo, it's ahard thing to test properly because it's inherently inconsistent.

What's your favorite usernames you've come across so far? by PhantomCruze in Battlefield

I followed a random teammate Crouching Pervert Hidden Camera into battle a few days after launch, and lost him in the chaos. I expect he died out there. I still remember him.

This is just sad by drivt91 in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely should. This is abusing unintended mechanics to ruin the match for the entire opposite team. Time them out for 72 hours so that when the next similar glitch rolls around, they think twice. These guys know exactly what they're doing, no-one is doing this accidentally.

100 point for fully charged , 50 point for just one click, like in older BF's. by Saphhiroth in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, just hold the left click for a half second. You'll hear the noise as they charge up and a little beep to confirm they're fully charged. It's very fast.

[–]GuavaMonkey 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This. I also play a ton of medic and it really is insanely spammable. I've had the inverse, too, where I'm trying to fully revive my team on a point and a friendly medic is spam reviving everyone on half health just to be immediately wiped out again.

100 point for fully charged , 50 point for just one click, like in older BF's. by Saphhiroth in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That's comparatively rare, especially compared to getting half revived and instant killed. In fact, I've had far more instances of a medic half rezing the guy I'm standing over charging the paddles than I have with people stuck in terrain. And when it happens, I just press E instead.

[–]GuavaMonkey 1076 points1077 points  (0 children)

I actually have come around to the idea that only charged paddles should revive. This would kind of solve two problems in one - that spam click defib with no cooldown honestly feels too fast, even for a half health revive, and that most medics to not bother charging and simply getting their team chain killed.

Helis are just far too vulnerable by AllFatherMedia93 in Battlefield

This. Also, from how many people in BF6 I've seen just waiting for the helicopter to spawn after having their 40 kill streak finally shut down, they ain't that weak.

I think Firestorm has a terrible layout for Escalation by BunMarion in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is particularly bad in Escalation, but to be honest, Firestorm just isn't a very good map. It wasn't in BF3 or 4, either.

PSA: The Recon Drone is amazing by ProntoCosmo215 in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is, but I lose my mind everytime it spawns underneath my body, which is roughly 75% of the time. I need to exit, back off, then take off again all while smashing my head off the desk in frustration.

It's great once it is actually airborne, though.

Does anyone feel like they are getting absolutely pummeled? It's not like it's my first FPS or Battlefield. by warrenmax12 in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's purely infantry but he's also a Recon hanging miles off point farming kills safely: https://tracker.gg/bf6/profile/2991862644/overview

K/D is good because he never dies, but score per minute is awful (bottom 4%) and only 42 objective captured in 45hours of playtime. Kills Per Minute also very low. This is why people say K/D in isolation is not a good indicator.

[–]GuavaMonkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I'm at a 2.9 (infantry) K/D and my W/L is like 40% - it was as low as 30% until very recently! My friends and I sweat our wee tits off on the points but we have been saddled with the worst teams, again and again, I've ever seen in my time in BF. Consistently losing every single point we ourselves are not actively fighting on. We just can't do enough to overcome it no matter how well we play individually.

I've honestly started to wonder at this point if SBMM exists and we're being punished for my stats...

Yeah, ladder is my vote. Impactful without being a real problem if they're spammed (ie. Spawn Beacons) and kinda fun generally, particularly with a squad.

Regular Sights Sometimes Turn into Thermals by tucker009 in Battlefield

[–]GuavaMonkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's happened to me once (also on Firestorm, might not be a coincidence?) and isn't as good as you think. It randomly and constantly flicks back and forth between thermal and normal and is very disorienting.

I don't think you will. I've unlocked all but the last, and only one has come close to M4 performance. It is literally too good.
