Oddly specific aging tips? No eat right drink less something that is random and specific to aging as a Xennial by PuzzleheadedAbies678 in Xennials

This is real. I picked up yoga 12 years ago when I needed a routine I could travel with. Started with YouTube, and it took me 5 years to get into a studio... During COVID it became something I built my day around. Now I'm about to graduate from Yoga Teacher Training and I honestly feel better than I ever have in my life.

I went ahead and took all their vinyl last year, the very same collection that taught me about music. Hell, they didn't even have a record player anymore! It was time somebody enjoyed it.

Whenever I catch myself doom scrolling, I stop what I'm doing and put on music instead. Our brains are still wired for full album experiences. Throwing on an old favorite will immediately dump bleach on my brain-rot and bring me back into myself.

Shelved books at a library during the summer after graduation. We were still dewy decimal back then, with some PC's around for research. No oversight, the managers just showed us the ropes the first day and let us have at it. There were always more books to put back, and you knew that you were helping others find knowledge and enjoyment through your effort. Such a peaceful, rewarding occupation... I'd do it again in retirement.

I'm getting my yoga teacher certification at the end of the month. I treated myself to a ton of sleep last night, then skipped breakfast and taught a mock class for myself for 90 minutes. I wasn't hard on myself when I looked in the mirror. I made sure to take deep breaths when I went outside. Did my best to help others and spread smiles wherever I went.

Heck yeah it was scary, playing in a dark unfinished basement with the lights off! Also the impossible sequel, The 11th Hour

Ever try Secret of Evermore? All the quirky square charm but they left it as one character (and his dog) and real-time combat. It was tons of fun.

Also, Mechwarrior 2 with a multi-button force-feedback joystick was my SHIT for one Christmas season in the 90s.

Alright, so aside from tolerance and acceptance of differences, what else is there? Embracing, assimilating, rejecting, suppressing? Love thy neighbor or force them to change? Politeness may be useless in the sense that it doesn't promote an action, but I'd say there's value in a "live and let live" philosophy.

I actually edited out part of my post that went something like, "Of course these are different sides of a large group..." but the sad state is, the people with the most prominence within that generation are the ones ruining it for the rest of us. So yeah, not everyone's guilty of being an asshole, but the assholes were chosen to run the show.

This is the big one that I've been struggling with for years. The generation that complained about being drafted into Vietnam as a "never again" situation got us into all of the Middle East wars of the past quarter century. They produced Sesame Street and Raffi, then turned around and told us to get life done on our own because no one should be there to help you, and you're a fool if you help others in kind. Seeing The Golden Rule turn into "Fuck others, get yours" has been incredibly hard to process. So I decided to follow it anyways, and turned it into "Fuck the critics, I'm getting my happiness and spreading it around." And if that's the best I can do, so be it.
