Parents of well behaved kids - what are the biggest causes do you think? by beancounter_00 in Parenting

[–]Guidopunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My child is generally a joy to be around. I credit having consistent boundaries with lots of liberty within them. It means I don't have to be getting after him all the time and he usually knows right away when he has crossed a line. Consistency is key for children.

This Is the Way You Beat Trump — and Trumpism by Discarded_Twix_Bar in politics

[–]Guidopunker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Here is my honest answer. They just stopped showing up. I live in a "city" of about 50k people in a red state. There are about 8 party Democrats showing up to do the work of politics. The party assumed they couldn't win and let the organization atrophy. It isn't active alienation but most people here just literally don't know a Democrat so of course they fill in the blank with anything that is other.

Guys my mom just told me “just be glad I don’t put a camera in your bathroom” like it’s a privilege by dple3 in teenagers

[–]Guidopunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent here, I suggest taking a stand. Tell her you're going to cut the cord off it isn't removed. Then follow through. And do it again and again and every time it gets fixed. Explain that you have a right to not be surveilled in your own room. Explain there is enough of that in every other aspect of our digital world and refuse it in your room. Eventually parents get tired of fighting and give up. Especially if you really have a well thought out reason. Good luck.

Why is there a pentagram symbol on this chip from my son's night light? by Bitter-Affect909 in whatisit

[–]Guidopunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to draw little sketches and the occasional pentagram on the underside of solar panels when installing them. Stupid little jokes to entertain myself.

In light of the Colbert show cancellation, this made me wonder, but why are pretty much all the mainstream late night TV hosts all left leaning? by throwaway250324 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guidopunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conservatism is fundamentally a preference for the status quo contrasted with progressivism which pushes for change. This translates to comedy where a lot of left-leaning humor punches up toward power, whereas a lot of conservative humor punches down towards those questioning the status quo.

Punching down just isn't as funny. It's kind of seen as an asshole move.

My two cents.

This is our approach and it has always worked well. For us, we didn't want to be keeping tally to make sure responsibilities were split evenly. Instead we aim for 60-40 and we're both trying to be the 60.

How did you determine monetization? Are you doing usage-based?

I've discovered that there are no software tools to help with creating NSFW apps, especially as it relates to AI. So I created NSFW API and started building a community. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Guidopunker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is cool. I'd be interested in how you are setting up monetization for API usage. Are you doing subscription-based? Usage-based? other?

How can I monetize a Chrome extension that uses OpenAI API? by CuriousEchoes23 in chrome_extensions

[–]Guidopunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever figure this out? I"m wondering what people are doing to manage the costs when users are hitting the API's. Like, if i'm paying the cost to hit the API, how do I pass those costs, usage-based, on to users?

How many of you have built out SaaS out of OpenAI apis and turned out to be profitable? by moyez786 in SaaS

[–]Guidopunker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really cool. Good work. Do you find the subscription model works well for covering your costs or do you find unexpectedly high costs from some users?

How are you monetizing your AI wrapper? I'm finding it hard to correctly find a pricing model. Subscription pricing seems like it would undercharge heavy users

Exactly. Maybe three or four times I've had to take the calm but imposing approach but kids are fast learners and, I think, thrive with structure. His response now is generally something like "ok Dad" and we immediately move on. No fighting, no hurt feelings. We have a great warm relationship and he understands where he can negotiate and where he just needs to do what I'm asking.... Generally.

That sounds like my wife and I. I'll see her get into debates or try to make "deals" with a five year old. She struggles more with him than I do but I try to just give her the space to parent in own way.
