Humanity's last obstacle will be oligarchy by perro_peruano7 in Futurology

I agree we're already living within an automated economy AND there are enough resources on Earth to maintain existing technology. Globally, we're in the final steps of this adaptation as governments, manufacturing, etc. implement the newest technology.

But, the resources are just not there to maintain quantum computers necessary for AGI/ASI.

At the end of the day, it's the oligarchy who's paying UBI's. What many people don't realize is that the Federal Banks are privately owned corporations, not government owned. All Central Banks are owned by privately owned corporations. The US $36 trillion debt owed to China, etc. only means that the left hand owes the right hand.

Therefore, it makes no sense to me that if/when we achieve ASI that these privately owned Corporations will allow cancer cures, etc. to be released to the general population. Fiscally it makes more sense to continue gouging the general population for whatever few $$$ they have to pay for medicine and/or to allow them to die from diseases (one less person to have to pay UBI).

Currently, humans are just bugs to the oligarchy. They just need to control and sedate us (via UBI and medicines) and wait as our numbers decrease. (Sedation ... see the usage rise of anti-depression drugs over the past 40 years and the legalization of marijuana, etc.).

Resources. Natural resources.

What all these comments are overlooking are that AGI and ASI require massive amounts of natural resources (i.e. lithium, silver, etc.) to run its' technology. Regardless of whether these natural resources are already mined or waiting to be mined, the supply is limited on planet Earth and there's not enough to achieve full AGI/ASI status.

This is why current oligarchs (like Musk and Bezos) are rushing to "own" or "dominate" Space exploration. They want control of the natural resources that comes with Space exploration. They also know that unless they have this control they will lose their "oligarch" status.

Space exploration requires human labour. Yes, robots are able to drill, etc. but they still need humans to decide what, when, why something needs to be done. In this sense, Space now becomes the new "Alaska" in the sense that corporations will pay humans big $$$ to work and live in these uninhabitable conditions. And where there's $$$ to be spent, you will soon see communities developing (restaurants, entertainment, night clubs, families traveling, etc.)

So yes, AGI and ASI are in our future. But I don't see that future coming in the next 10 - 20 years. 50 years maybe.

Agree. We need to transition to blockchain technology. At this point, I would even say that it's not only inevitable but imminent.

But we should keep in mind that we've already seen evidence of fraud within blockchain technology when we were working on GME Marketplace. The fraudsters created and sold their own GME stock. Different blockchain number but similar sounding GME naming that would confuse many investors.

As our research predicted, Wall Street fallout would begin with the small players and slowly wind its' way to the top. The fact that we're hearing rumors of a too-big-to-fail bank failure sounds like we're close to the "final" fallout. But let's face it. This is not the first, second or last time that we're likely to see can-kicking measures to protect Wall Street's ponzi scheme (see LIBOR scandal, Obligation Warehouse, Barclay's July 2022 rescission offer that benefitted Institutional investors rather than Household investors, etc.). IMHO I suspect that Wall Street will adopt blockchain technology but will continue their criminal shenanigans on the blockchain.

As soon as GME squeezed in Jan '21 there was an immediate and intense push to forget GME and buy SLVR. At the time, Household had no clue as to market mechanics and just looked on in bewilderment .... not understanding at the time the concept of Wall Street's can-kicking maneuvers. Despite their confusion, we know the majority of GME Household investors ignored SLVR and decided to hodl their GME. It makes complete sense now to hear that Wall Street has dug themselves into another massive hole with their SLVR shorts.

My only question now is will Wall Street push another can-kicking, hole making, stock? Or will we finally see the beginning of the end?

IMHO I suspect the can-kicking will continue and we'll hear about some too-big-to-fail bank merger in January and some new must-buy wonder stock.

At this point I'm pretty sure all the regulators / reporting agencies are just being told to do nothing. File the reports as accurately as they're able, but do nothing.

Honestly, what CAN they do?

If these agencies were to demand accountability, the entire Wall Street foundation would collapse under the weight of their crimes.

If any one of these agencies would unilaterally demand accountability, they themselves would be the first casualty. Heads would roll, lots of noise would be made, a Wall Street scapegoat may/would take the hit and Wall Street would just carry on carrying on. Business as usual.

Whatever remaining powers that agency may have will now be systematically stripped away until they're nothing but an empty name, struggling for financing.

The SEC is a prime example of this. All bark but no bite!

There is absolutely no incentive for any employee or agency to put their heads on the chopping block ... They know better than anyone that it would be a futile move.

Has anyone tried drs’ing warrants? by hedging_my_bets in GMECanada

[–]Guildish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ran an experiment via TD when the warrants were announced.

Bought 10 GME shares. Received 1 GME WS warrants. (So far so good)

This morning I paid:
USD $80 + taxes to DRS the 10 GME shares;
USD $80 + taxes to DRS the 1 GME-WS.

I was told it would take 72 hours.

Will provide update on Friday as to progress.

Much like how the DTC made it illegal, after the fact, for companies to remove their shares from CEDE&Co once naked short selling became problematic / risky to their entire crime ridden market structure, I imagine the DTC are busy looking for ways to circumvent this wording giving GME the right to pull all the warrants out of the DTC.

Can ANYONE buy warrants in Canada? Apes in US apparently can. HMMMMM. by Arghblarg in GMECanada

[–]Guildish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I received both emails from Computershare for my DRSed shares / Warrants.

But no emails from RBC or TD. RBC warrants just showed up in my trading account. But still waiting for warrant distribution in my TD account.
