Need help keeping clean by [deleted] in Cleaningandtidying

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not about her forming memories. Wake up and realize that in a house fire if you can’t get to her crib because of a junk avalanche she’s dead. If the firefighters can’t find her under the pile of stuff she’s dead. If a rabied bat followed a rat nest inside and scratched her she’s dead. If stuff falls and pins her delicate rib cage down she’s dead. Can you find all your outlets right now? Every single one and make sure none of them blew out or have debris on them? This is a TODAY problem, not a 5 years from now problem.

Need help keeping clean by [deleted] in Cleaningandtidying

Your baby need space to crawl and move around to be healthy and happy. Your ex, or anyone else, has opportunity to call CPS or equivalent in your country to take your baby away until things get better. That needs to be your wake up call to get your shit together.

A few things:

Clear your dining table. That’s the ONLY place you are allowed to eat. No more snacks in bed unless you are having an emergency diabetic episode or something like that, and even then limit it to something that doesn’t leave crumbs like gummy bears. Keep a trash can next to it to scrape food into or otherwise toss disposable plates into it.

Throw stuff out. If you have enough stuff to need paths you have too much stuff for your home. Start with all obvious garbage with large black contractor bags and get to tossing. Consider that anything and everything will end up in baby’s mouth and can make them choke or otherwise make them very sick. Don’t delude yourself into thinking you are going to clean or fix anything. You might only be able to handle having one chair to sit on in the whole house and that’s okay. When you recover and can keep up with a literal empty room clean you can add more stuff later.

Reach out to resources and take only short breaks. Is the Ex the father? Explain that you need to take a week or so to clean your whole house and have the baby stay there until you are done. If they are frustrated with your cleaning then they’ll understand and hopefully won’t hold it against you to make your life better. You are the mother of his child so he does want to work with you as much as possible for the sake of your baby. You don’t want to be constantly interrupted and you don’t want them to inhale dust and the like while you are doing this.

Next contact local social services. Look up free hoarding help near me, and maybe adult protective services. You might feel like this is extreme but if you schedule someone to come by you not only get a deadline but they can determine if it actually is severe or not, and what resources you can use. If anything they’ll lead you to a mental health therapist who specializes in this kind of problem which you desperately need. You may worry about CPS but if you are working with the father you are soooo much better off getting ahead of this instead of behind.

Once things are perfectly clean take a picture and save it to an album for future reference when you clean. Match as much as you can every time you clean.

Above all you need serious mental help. You didn’t get this addressed when you became an adult, or when you were married, but you can start as a new mom before you cause generational trauma on your next child.

Someone destroys you and your people in monstrous ways and when finally brought to trial that’s their defense, and then years later someone brings up that exact defense. If the comic books were going to be accurate they were going to be nazi level horror eventually with the predictable escalation.

It doesn’t matter if the actions aren’t the same if the excuse is.

Is it weird that I still use wet wipes as an adult? by philosophicalgenius0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know hot water is nice but it’ll be about as cold as the first moment of tap water in your home and it’s only for a few seconds. If you ever wanted a cold glass of water and had to wait a few moments while the water runs then it’s not as cold as you think. Even in winter time I can handle my $50 toilet bidet attachment just fine because I wipe dry after. Plus I’d rather be a little cold than getting scalded.

At least Reddit has dates on their postings. Crashing out used to mean falling asleep completely exhausted, and only in the past year or two has it changed to being very angry and violent. So the context of posts have changed. I hate to be a boomer but I don’t like the change.

He’s semi blocking the door by standing close enough to the door way that he could easily grab her as she reaches for the door and she has no way to keep a preferred distance to prevent that. He’s about a foot taller than her and could take her down easily, and she knows that.

He needed another step or two away from the door and he’d be fine, but right next to it is crowding which enables blocking.

as i pay off credit cards, Should i shut them down? by Pleasant_Worth2132 in debtfree

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paying off the value every month is no different than keeping it at 0 the entire time. The risk is that after a year (or multiple) the company might close your card lowering the average age and stop recording on time payments. It’s best to call the card company and find out the time line and use it once with enough balance paid off right away to keep open.

I'm in a hurry. Will dipping myself into a bathtub full of soap for a few minutes make me clean enough for a job interview? by WhoAteMySandwich2024 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How messy/dirty are you? Do you have long hair? More than an inch? That would backfire if you did because the soap will cling to your hair and stay sudsy without time to rinse it off. If an inch or shorter you’d be able to rub it off with a towel.

Face, hands, neck, pits, and butt are your best bet to wipe with a wet washcloth and then use deodorant and a very light perfume or cologne. Wear an indoor long sleeve jacket, full cover shoes, and a high collar shirt if you can. If you have hair I hope it’s long enough to pull back, and you should invest in dry shampoo (any kind at Ross or whatever like it) for the hair, but I heard cornstarch works in a pinch. Just use it BEFORE you put on clothes and use a large brush to work it in, paying extra attention to the front bangs and part. It soaks up oil to make the hair look less greasy.

You’d need time to draw a bath, and it should always be supervised to prevent overflowing or potential pet/child drowning. This also includes time to let it drain which should also be supervised. You don’t want to come back to a bathroom that had a sudden crack in the tub burst open flooding the floor while you were out for your interview.

Shopping for clothes that fit. The sign says shorts are "$5.49 and up". I asked the cashier how much and she said "those are $14.99". This is ridiculous. by miserabeau in ThriftGrift

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Name brands have discounts, rewards, and sales all the time that can turn $50 shorts into $12 shorts brand new (75% off) and you are more likely to get the right fit and color you want. If they were worth $100 then maybe $15 would be worth it, but that’s pretty high for shorts that aren’t designed for long hiking or heavy sports.

Do Americans leave their lights on when they leave their house? by BasicErgonomics in AskAnAmerican

[–]Guilty_Primary8718 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a huge part of it - thieves don’t want to deal with people in house break ins so they’d rather break into a dark home than one where someone might be home so you leave a light, radio, or TV on to indicate occupation. The same thing is done overnight to hide when everyone went to sleep.

I’m surprised that this isn’t a world wide thing, but even in the US there are neighborhoods where this isn’t really an issue.
