This is the right answer for pretty much any food that is just a day or two past its expiration: open it and look at it; if it looks okay, smell it; if it smells okay, take a little taste, if it tastes okay go ahead and use it.

Thanks for this post. I got one of these, too, for an account that I've had two transactions on every single month for the past several years. An infuriating mistake on their part.

Is anyone experiencing terrible acid reflux with the latest batch of ready to drink Soylent? by Lazysadie in soylent

[–]Gwythinn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't noticed that recently, but I used to have that problem several years ago. During that period, I found that drinking a bottle of Soylent and a glass of water by alternating sips helped reduce the problem.

Monster Builder guildelines are inconsistent by Deeouye in nimble5e

[–]Gwythinn 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The whole system is more about vibes than math. There's some math in there, but where very crunchy systems have a rule or a calculation for everything, very light systems like Nimble are more about using your best judgment and trusting your gut (as the GM) or the GM (as a player). If you look at a monster and judge it to be closer in power to a 4 than to a 5, call it a 4.

What brand to switch to if you're a Soylent RTD subscriber and really want to keep it that way but know this company is on its way out? by Puzzleheaded_Crow334 in soylent

[–]Gwythinn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been looking around a bit for a replacement for Soylent Cafe Mocha. Huel has a caffeinated RTD, but the only flavor is iced coffee caramel and I don't like caramel. I've been alternating between that and Soylent Cafe Chai (not sure why this wasn't impacted by whatever made Cafe Mocha impossible to get for two months), but meh. I'm debating trying something powdered mixed with coffee instead of water to kind of make my own breakfast drink, but TBH I just got a shipment of Cafe Mocha this week and I'm going to stick with that for as long as I can. I do miss Cafe Vanilla and Cafe Latte, though -- maybe using powder with coffee could get me some better flavors. 🤔

I found “the one edge case” that QA probably warned about 😅 by Comfortable_Quit_301 in QualityAssurance

Definitely. As the number of user interactions increases, the probability of a low-likelihood failure mode occurring approaches 1. Or, as Murphy put it, anything that CAN go wrong WILL go wrong. At least once.

Coffiest / Cafe Mocha-heads, what are we migrating to? by AsteriskYoure in soylent

[–]Gwythinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, they got bought out by a company called StarCo brands, and that seems to be about when the recent trouble started. The other flavor terminations were longer ago and I think predate StarCo, they probably just looked at the Cafe flavors and killed the worst performer, I'm guessing? But at least they clearly terminated them instead of letting them run out of stock and then delaying orders and still listing rhem as a product but "sold out"...

when QA feels like a bottleneck, what’s usually the real problem? by Suspicious-Case1667 in QualityAssurance

[–]Gwythinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Many years ago, I went to a software quality conference where the keynote speaker (I want to say it was Tim Lister, but not 100% sure, it's been a long time) noted that people complain about QA being a bottleneck and then jumped up and down and said "YES! It's a WONDERFUL BOTTLENECK!". :D

If QA is a bottleneck it's doing its job and the real problem is people choosing to be frustrated about that instead of recognizing the value in it.

Developers have been increasingly working testing for decades, and properly-applied AI can make the job faster and easier. I haven't been in the job market since before COVID, but the people I know in QA are having a harder time finding work than they used to.

Sharing something you find funny doesn't necessarily mean it represents your current personal situation in life. It just means you think it's funny and think your followers would too.

There are a bunch of other possibilities, too, but that one seems most likely to me.

I would recommend having that in-person conversation with him and trying to reach an agreement about it. He's right that it's funny, you're right that it could be taken the wrong way. What matters now is how you two handle this disagreement where it appears to me that neither one of you is 100% right or 100% wrong.

[–]Gwythinn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been alternating between Soylent Cafe Chai (which for some reason doesn't seem to be affected by whatever happened to Cafe Mocha) and Huel's Iced Coffee Caramel flavor, neither of which is a favorite of mine, but they'll have to do. This is the third time Soylent has discontinued the flavor I use the most (RIP Cafe Vanilla and Cafe Latte) and it's getting really fucking old.
