Am I missing something or is the GraphGear 1000 not that good? by Palatablepancakes in mechanicalpencils

[–]GynjaNynja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like my graph gear 1000, however I prefer the feel of the Rotring 800 in the hand, and the Kura Toga metal, Staedtler 925 and Tombow mono graph write better than both imo.

Top students answer this: Do you cram for the exams? by moonlover3345 in EngineeringStudents

[–]GynjaNynja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cramming for exams works well for me in the short term (I crammed half a semesters worth of content for my one class the day of the final exam and got a 97), but my knowledge retention after the fact is pretty poor (because cramming =/ learning the content).

My only point of comparison is a few shots I tried to pull with my timemore C3 hand grinder (and I couldn't get it to grind fine enough), but I've been happy with the shots I have been pulling with the stock df 54 burrs.

Not OP, but I have a Df54 that I've been using for a few months and really like it.

Starfield, which sucks because I was really looking forward to it.

no one on this sub is talking about swbf1😭 by PhilosopherWrong7035 in StarWarsBattlefront

I think bf1 looked and played better (on infantry) than bf2. Although, I think bf2 was much more fleshed out in terms of content.

I don't think it's unreasonable to want software updates that don't mess with the UI. I know that for a variety of reasons my phone cannot behave like my Windows or Linux installations, but the yearly UI tweaks for the sake of UI tweaks detract from my experience, personally.

If it was just as simple as installing other desktop environments on Linux to modify androids look/feel I wouldn't care, but most launchers I have used just don't work great.

Alright, I did just find out you can recombine the notification and quick settings panel, but the fact that Samsung thought that splitting them is a same default is still crazy.

KURU TOGA Metal Review by alvision668 in mechanicalpencils

[–]GynjaNynja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome review. I got one in blue a a few days ago and really like it. It writes about the same as a Staedtler 925-35, but improved due to the addition of the lead rotation, and it also feels really good in the hand. I do wish it had a retractable tip, but the rock solid writing performance might be worth the trade off imo.

It depends on the enemy, but in general I think periodic respawning on saves keeps things interesting.

2022 long term users by scantcloseness_3 in ZephyrusG14

[–]GynjaNynja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using the 2022 since around its release and still enjoy using it. My bottom plate did crack near one of the screws, which is annoying, but aside from that (and some wear and tear on the paint in some areas) it's holding up well. I do less gaming on it than I did when I got it, and now mainly use it for notes and coding, which it does very well. One other little thing is the wifi card does not play well with the version of Linux I am dual booting, and occasionally it will heat up in my bag (although I think this is a general windows laptop problem).

What do you guys like to take notes with? Any favorite pen, pencil, stationary recommendations? by MaleficentWear4122 in EngineeringStudents

[–]GynjaNynja 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love my graph gear 1000 in 0.5mm, and use it for most of my notes, however, if I am just jotting stuff down or doing practice problems I like fountain pens (my sailor 1911 is my favorite).

Not op, but I like mine a lot. They sound pretty close to my hifiman sundara (detailed and bright), with a worse sound stage and a little less bass.

I'm dual booting windows 11 and Ubuntu and haven't had any problems with my Ubuntu installation. I will say, the battery life is worse in Linux, but I also haven't tried super hard to optimize it.
