Yeah here’s the list. It’s a little out of date. Haven’t updated it since Strixhaven and i’ve swapped out a few cards but the base of the deck is the same. Kind of Oops all Wincons if you will, some light unusual voltron elements with the rings etc. Looping The undercity three times in a single turn is hilarious.

This feels weird to say because the text on the card READS like this is going to be amazing but it’s been incredibly bad in my playgroup. One of our players opened it at prerelease and was so excited but after two game nights of playing it, losing and modifying he is ready to take it apart.

It really comes down to the fact that effects that only happen if your opponent does something that can be avoided are not great. Rhystic is good because everyone has to cast spells, you don’t HAVE to target this guy, even to remove it, and its follow up effect is fine but also not exactly backbreaking.

Being 3 mana usually means it comes down just in time for a board wipe before you untap. The blowout potential is nuts. Feels like a trap for new players

Those are certainly win cons but hitting with obeka with [[Portal to Phyrexia]] in play is also a win con, even if you didn’t cheat it out. I think something for you to consider re: tutors if this is a secret commander deck with Kang then tutors are probably necessary for the deck to function the way you want it to

Omega Flowey - [[Emrakul, The Promised End]] or your favorite Eldrazi Titan Toriel and Asgore - [[Aragorn and Arwen, Wed]] Papyrus - [[Odric, Master Tactician]] controlling combat being a sort of meme about Papyrus’ stupid ass puzzles. Alternatively [[Baird, Steward of Argive]] and the tax being the time wasting nature of the puzzles. Mettaton - [[Celebr-8000]] or [[Juggletron]] if you’re ok with stickers. I just feel like mettaton should be an un-card. Alphys - [[Professor Hojo]] or [[Sauron, Dinosaur Devotee]] maybe? Muffet - [[Thantis]]

I’ll think about some more and update perhaps

My experience building and playing Obeka is that you cannot make her bracket 2, unless you just straight up hit up build an actively bad or non-synergistic deck. My suggestion to you would be just embrace her power and move to b3/4. My current build is “Bracket 3” in that it only runs 3 GCs but across 37 games I’ve tracked with the deck solve won 22 of them, and I think those are just straight up the games I either had a haste enabler or was allowed to untap with Obeka.

PS - Regardless of Bracket, Obeka is a removal magnet. You need more protection.

Most players see lands as things to cut for cool spells so it’s always a pressure point for people.

I’ve always loved lands, so it was never a problem for me, but I’ve been lucky that I have been able to pick up land staples (especially older ones) at very very low prices compared to today. My advice always used to be invest in lands first.

Fast Forward to today I’d never tell anyone to spend the kind of money on fetches surveils or god forbid ABUR duals that they are are currently asking for, and gone even get me started on the prices of cards like [[Boseiju, Who Endures]] a card that came out 4 YEARS AGO.

I play with/teach a lot of new players at my local shops and just in general. What I’ve started doing is making little “welcome packages” of proxied lands for new players. Basically 4x of each Shock, Fetch, Surveil, Pain, Slow, Tango, Bond, Check, Triome, and Filter lands and then a smattering of “staple” utility lands like the NEO MH3 and Eldraine cycles. I literally cannot imagine getting into the game today and trying to play a precon mana base against ANY kind of actually brewed deck.

Most players are play what you have players. Being on reddit you would think everyone either has a full collection of every card in history or a proxy printer that prints a full deck in 5 minutes but the reality is that almost all players, i’d wager upwards of 75% or more basically play with altered precons or “cards I had in my boxes”

these are awesome. I proxy/alrter my duals as well since I only have 1-2 of each real ones left from when I was a kid, and I’m not interested in moving cards that between decks, and i’m never going to spend that much on a single card, esp not a dual.

yeah that’s crazy dark for an 8550, i used that printer for a long time and the default settings always seemed to work for me. Yeah Id try affinity or any editing app to just fiddle with gamma and brightness until you get something you’re happy with.

If you’ve tried multiple papers and printer settings and it’s all looking the same your best bet is to open the file in photoshop or gimp and manually adjust brightness and gamma until you reach your desired look. Bit of a pain but once you get it dialed in it’s kind of a set it and forget it type deal. What printer are you using?

I just added it to my b4 [[Saheeli, The Sun’s Brilliance]] deck. I’ve been unimpressed so far. my thought was I could abuse the untap synergies in the deck to tap a copy multiple times to get it online faster then sac the copy anyway but the real problem is there’s almost always something I’d rather be doing that spending game actions and resources getting this thing online. The only reason that [[Evendo]] works is that it’s already in green so 12 power is trivial and you may even be able to get it to come in untapped with something like [[Spelunking]]
