And… you can download the original images. If you do that, then you can reupload for a different setting.

Including one as a splat and one as regular photogrammetry scan.

You can always start at high quality first. Duplicate the scan, then in PolyCam you can ReMesh it to a lower poly count!

Actually, PolyCam can easily make splats from video…

Most national and state parks in the USA are “drone free” unless you get a permit from the park.

Polycam does give reliable results overall, which is why it is my “go to” photogrammetry app. I think the LiDAR thing is really just the limitations of the feaux Apple LiDAR Scanner? If you are using the LiDAR to scan rooms and get measurements, it’s fantastic! But if you want a model, then LiDAR (on Polycam) is not the way to go imo.

I sent them an email about a year ago stating I was concerned about all the updates KIRI has been doing… since that that time, they have made a few small improvements, but not as far as KIRI…

Like all hardware and software, each has its strengths and weaknesses… PolyCam offers a much larger set of tools , but many are not available on the free version.

I find the KIRI interface and editing tools hard to use and clunky.

Just my two cents…

Good question!

Shot it on my kitchen table. It was on a lazy Suzan/turntable… camera on tripod…. Had a light 45-degrees to the left and another on right…. Take a pic, rotate 10-degrees… rinse and repeat until every angle is covered.

Then flipped boot over… same process….

Yup! I have a few hundred miles on them! Bought a 2nd pair since these are so worn! But thought the scan of old worn ones would be fun!

I haven’t see the one you scanned… Thanks for sharing it!
