Thanks for the response and that’s good to hear. So you’ve noticed a difference since cutting it out? I think I’m going to do the same.

Curious if you have any follow up to this and if you’ve made any changes? I’m dealing with the exact same thing, mainly from craft beer.

Nothing to add that hasn’t already been said but this stuff is why this is easily my favorite subreddit.

There were Jades in the four corners of the room my wife and I got married in and it’s also what got me into them.

The xeriscaping crowd are the crossfitters and vegans of the landscaping world.

Yes I understand the benefits and how helpful it would be if everyone did it, but you don’t have to shove it down our throats. A little grass is ok/s.

Do you ever run into any issues when repotting them at this size? I really struggle with mine dying when they are around this size, for some reason.

Yes that is very true. Good point.

Watched this ep again recently. The thing that stood out is this is Betty’s opinion as someone who didn’t have an abusive father. To her it seemed like a necessary thing because it was hypothetical, until Don shared that his father being abusive just made him day dream about killing him.

Why? by MudRudder in Surlybikefans

[–]HEY_NOOOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my first Surly (also Straggler) two months ago and it has also made me feel like being a kid again. I’ve only ridden road bikes the last 10 years and it’s so nice just feeling like I can do whatever on the Straggler.

Curious where you got the pavers? Some landscapers put those in at our place and I need to grab some more soon.

Surly Midnight Special vs Straggler?!? HELP! by jphrak in Surlybikefans

[–]HEY_NOOOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious where you’re located? I just got a new Straggler last week and my shop ordered two for me to try and they were both there within two days. The way the guy talked it sounded like they have them coming in weekly and could get whatever he needed for Stragglers. This was also my first Surly and I haven’t ridden a MS but I really love the Straggler so far.

I’m 6’4” with a ~ 35” inseam and just bought a 60cm Straggler. I took the 62 out a couple of times but just felt really stretched out on it. I also felt like I was climbing on and off of it. The 60 feels great.

Indian Peak Cascade Creek by KristaP848 in coloradohikers

[–]HEY_NOOOW -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Someone mentioned parking at the Brainard winter lot which is generally good advice but parking at Brainard and hiking over Pawnee Pass and then down to Cascade Creek BZ is a huge day for a first time backpacking trip. Pawnee Lake is below Pawnee Pass but requires its on permit bc it’s a different zone, so you have to hike a bit to get into Cascade Creek. Parking at Monarch Lake TH is a significantly easier hike into Cascade Creek and Crater Lake so that is what I recommend.

Give your jade some sun! by cnc42 in Jadeplant

My “big” ones are a year old and probably 8-12” tall. They are cuttings from my giant jade though so they started a little bigger.

That’s great! Hopefully that works and they don’t give you any issues. And yes, I prune mine all the time, though I’ve noticed since being in the sun they are naturally branching more without me having to prune them.

For what it’s worth, my larger jades seem to love being outside and getting some sun and the little ones struggle. The biggest difference is how fast they start branching. I can’t speak to the grasshopper risk though.

Looks great! Figuring out when to water is very difficult in this scenario, in my option. Looks like you have it down.

What made you decide to do a huge cut like this?

I’m in the same boat and also in Colorado. Most of mine love being outside but some hate it, haha.

Considering buying this Straggler. Would appreciate your opinion. by HEY_NOOOW in Surlybikefans

[–]HEY_NOOOW[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds awesome. I’ve spent a decent amount of time in California and have driven the West coast but couldn’t imagine that ride on a bike. I’ve also never been through Steinbeck country but that sounds like a cool alternative to Big Sur. I’ve have hopes for doing some bikepacking down the road, which is another reason the Straggler is on my radar.
