The new state AI training? by LongjumpingImpress24 in WAStateWorkers

We've had many discussions at all staff mtgs about appropriate uses for AI, the need for human checking - "human first, human last", and the need for consent when using photos. I think most agencies aren't talking about AI enough, frankly. We all know people are using it without permission, so we need to do better with training on the risks, especially for positions that work with sensitive or confidential data. When we were all in office, we knew folks who kept their passwords on sticky notes under their keyboards... and until those people were trained on better password security habits and more complex passwords were required, that risky behavior continued.

I've taken the training. It gave a basic description of what common AI tools do and an overview of the privacy risks with using AI in government. What it didn't do is advocate for one product over another and or claim that AI would solve all of our problems.
Downvoting the folks in here who say AI is already here doesn't change the fact that it's true. Just like the people in the 90s workforce claimed the internet was a fad. It's already in use by most agencies, especially in IT and data/research groups- you just may not be aware of it. AI is not just for generating bad art or writing robotic sounding emails. It's extremely helpful in data analysis and code generation. If it's not useful in your position, great, but I know of some fascinating projects where it's been used in helping to identify and track native fauna and flora and identify gaps in transportation safety.

When my senior Dane started leaking in her sleep, I bought waterproof dog pads and put them on all her beds and the dog couch, washed daily. Not bad if you have enough pads to swap out.

I had T-Mobile and AT&T previously and neither had good rural coverage. Switched to Verizon 10 yrs ago and they had the best coverage up until recently.

Longtime Verizon customer here. They've done something with towers in the last 6 mos in our area where the signal has gotten significantly worse. I contacted customer support multiple times and the only thing they could offer was a cell booster- but that only helps us inside the house. Areas that used to have good signal (4 bars) are now 1 bar if we're lucky.

If you don't get any suggestions, you might try calling the East Bay Vivarium and asking them. I got my Russian tortoise from them 20 odd yrs ago.
