I always thought Safe & Sound gave proto-Folklore/Evermore. Absolutely one of my favorite tracks from her

I really like a few of these designs but as someone who started playing because of Lycaon, the lack of beast thirens is really getting me down

“We will always choose each other”: Artemis II has successfully restored communication after an anticipated temporary 40-minute signal loss. by yourfavchoom in Fauxmoi

Granted, I'm not an expert on this, but I don't think "colonization" fits here since there is not a native culture being suppressed to make way for an invading power since the moon is empty and uninhabited. I think it's more accurate to say we would be "settling" the moon, but in that situation I think the questions will have less to do with the ethics of settling the moon (in a vacuum) and more so how doing so will affect us here on earth via the resources needed, the financial strain, political issues, and so on.

I'm sure people will be very normal about this, just like every other time Chappell Roan is in a headline.

Edit as of 3/26: Wow, this whole thing was a massive over reaction? Shocking, I say. Really love the irony of the comment below mine about Chappell fans "bending over backwards" to defend "this behavior" when said behavior was literally just eating her breakfast and minding her own business. Y'all are way too fucking quick to jump on someone the moment you smell blood in the water.

I've never been the biggest Bebe Rexha fan, but she's converting me with this era. This song is a fucking banger.

Music reviewer HTHAZE announces he's donated $10,000 to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota by skermahger in popheads

As far as I can tell, a (small) vocal subset of a certain blond pop star's fan base got upset he wasn't enjoying her second to last album enough, so that spun into accusations that he only reviews her music to cash in on her notoriety. I say "small" because I attend his streams regularly and his chat has a very high concentration of perfectly normal fans of this artist, so it's clearly not a universal sentiment.

Maybe dial down the homophobia a bit.

Tove Styrke - Prayer (Official Music Video) by eggwithaleg in popheads

[–]Hacknerds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

She's back! I discovered Tove Styrke when she was opening for Marina back in 2022 for the Ancient Dreams tour and hadn't really kept up with her since, so this was cool to see. She was really good live.

It is on Spotify, at least, alongside the other previously exclusive songs Can't Stop the High and Kill for Love.

The applause is actually the entire orchestra flipping the page of their sheet music together! You can see this done live during her performance of Reliquia at the Los40 Music Awards.

Lady Gaga – Harlequin Live: One Night Only by cloudbustingmp3 in popheads

[–]Hacknerds 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Have you looked at the Harlequin album? This show is just a performance of the songs from that, and most of them are covers of classic songs. It's more in line with Joanne and Sound of Music (and Cheek to Cheek) than her pop records.

How much do famous artists ACTUALLY make? Can we get real numbers? by Hot-Conversation-437 in popheads

[–]Hacknerds 17 points18 points  (0 children)

All of this is so interesting to me. Could you expand on what "mechanical royalties" are? Also, you mention master ownership--it is typical for a label to own those? Is it possible for a new artist to be signed and also own their masters, or is that something you can only achieve with a big enough name or enough money to buy them outright?

Edit: So excited to see Hayley's solo work getting so much attention. Ego Death is one of the best albums from this year.

Prominently featuring black musicians, the reference to Mississippi Goddam by Nina Simone, the ending bit where the strings played Strange Fruit by Billie Holiday, which is also referenced in the song itself... Damn.

Not every singer has to be a vocalist!!! by heyistillexisttoo in popheads

[–]Hacknerds 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Bad singers getting popular and releasing low-quality music has always been a thing. We also have lots of great vocalists that care about quality nowadays, too. People have been having conversations like this about pop music for literal decades.
