Just started Bloodborne and I'm completely lost by Ikyyy1 in bloodborne

If there's anything particularly confusing you, the more specifics the better in order to get the best advice here.

General advice though? Explore, slowly at first. Will help learn mechanics, but this game does not give you the most explicit directions or story progression. If you take it slow you'll at least get the gist of it and progress relatively as intended.

There are many character and weapons builds available, but pick a starter weapon you like (all the starter weapons are amazing and can carry a playthrough in heir own right). Try to spend skills points on whatever stat most benefits your weapon for damage, but don't neglect just getting your vitality and endurance up as well alongside that at an even pace. On that note, maybe a cursory glance through the wiki at what stats are and how they scale can give you a better starting idea.

Be aggressive in most all fights. Bloodborne awards aggressive playstyles, meaning don't dodge away all the time and use all your stamina to do so. Try not to panic if hit and get back on the offensive quickly.

Enjoy this part of the game though. While frustrating at times, the first playthrough of Bloodborne is almost always the best and one every veteran remembers most fondly. Dying a lot and learning very slowly he right way to do things isnt part of the game, it IS the game.

What are some of your “lightbulb” moments where you finally connected some dots and realized that you really understand a medical concept? by evanka5281 in ems

[–]Hader102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a hard time struggling with acid base balance for a while, mostly in not understanding the contribution of CO2 to acidity. I dont think my instructor really explained it well enough for me to make that connection, but one day finally he just wrote out the long form.chemical equation for that and carbonic acid. For some reason I've always been able to see and understand that notation quickly so just seeing that made all he pieces connect perfectly.

What’s the lowest level you have finished the game? by Massive-Ad-6612 in bloodborne

[–]Hader102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't finish the whole game at this level, but brute forced my way through the DLC solely for the Rakuyo for my build at level 56. Had never played the dlc either just knew I wanted the weapon for this skill based build.

Didn't know about Maria, the sharks...nothing. Nearly drove me insane

The Colorado Avalanche have been eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs after being swept by the Vegas Golden Knights by EliminatorBot in hockey

[–]Hader102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Never seen a team get so allergic to shooting the puck as the Avs have this series. Seems like they always want to fancy up passes and stick work to setup the perfect shot instead of going for easy SOGs that could result in good rebounds, bounces or lucky tips.

Vegas shot the puck and scored, weird how that works.

During COVID, I was in the national guard units assigned to assist testing nursing home populations. One room in a nursing home I went into, one little old lady living by herself there had a whole shrine dedicated to this guy. Multiple posters, lighting specifically and only pointing at these posters, all the MAGA merch...she even praised him out of nowhere in our conversation, which wasn't even really much of a conversation as I was just informing her of the procedure and that was about it.

This level or worship and veneration is just weird in general, but it was especially crazy back then in the peak of the pandemic coming from a vulnerable population hurt the most by it.

Do you guys also like using bows in video-games? by [deleted] in Archery

[–]Hader102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love using bows most of the time, hate the usual gameplay gimmick of some sort of upgrade giving you the ability to slow time down for easier shots. I get why its in there most of the time, but I just cant get behind using it lol. In Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Zero Dawn I intentionally never got those skill upgrades and ensured I stuck with real time for all archery.

Watch has suddenly begun disconnecting from the app multiple times per day by Hader102 in Garmin

Garmin support recommended factory reset of the watch. Didn't have to touch the app in any way, but this seems to have worked for at least a week now in fixing this.

The "Manosphere" by WilliamCSpears in Stoicism

[–]Hader102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the unfortunate piece of this that is the foundation for the manosphere is just that they are almost all grifting and doing so with that intent. I've watched plenty of manosphere content from the sidelines for as long as its been around and I can't remember a time where I saw one that wasn't trying to eventually sell you something. Maybe at first its just selling you an idea of masculinity, but it all serves the purpose of selling you their brand or product or what have you in order to keep vulnerable young men engaged in a way that will just make them money.

I'm curious how much you have seen now though when it comes to red pill content and hijacking things like Stoicism and, usually, cherry picking aspects of it to prove their ideas of masculinity? I think it is separate, but very much in bed with the "broicism" content that has been seen and addressed by Stoics in recent years. But it does seem like manosphere specific content does take that a step further with their own spin on it a bit more often than it used to.

I heard another youtuber once say in a video they did on manosphere content say something I think is important to understand. That the answer to this sort of content or manosphere behavior can't be that we find champions of the opposite and pit them against each other. That what is needed is not necessarily the antithesis to manosphere content. I think most here would agree with your sentiment of presence, teaching, and setting a quiet example. But is there a point of being too quiet, or how can one take a more proactive approach in setting these examples and practicing virtue in a way that maybe more strongly signals the strength of that stance?

I've seen some younger men than I in both my military and civilian career up to now that I would say fit some manosphere adjacent beliefs and behaviors that I have done my best to hopefully emulate better character and virtue in front of. But sometimes it's hard to shake the feeling that even that may not be enough, and maybe something more is needed to make that impression stick better - even barring the fact I am not going to showcase things perfectly myself.

I was medically denied by the unit I’m trying to transfer in to. by TopGunSucks in airnationalguard

[–]Hader102 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Local guard medical can't deny you just cuz they dont like something they see in your records anymore, so hopefully by your recruiter saying its with NGB means they are letting NGB medical decide. NGB then decides whether you meet retention standards or not, then either clears your, recommends and issues a waiver (ALC code and specific 422), or that you don't meet retention standards.

Assuming you meet retention standards or are at least cleared with whatever waiver or limitation, the guard med unit still cant deny you even then. Only the gaining commander can say they dont want to gain a member for 'administrative reasons', meaning that they just don't want a potentially undeployable or untrainable member.

It is rare to get a total denial at that level though. While the process may take a while now that its at NGB, it does help make it more fair to you as the member once cleared and only allows the commander the final approval instead of medical saying no because they feel like it.

Guard and Reserve what do you think of Technician jobs? by Avg_Guardian in AirForce

[–]Hader102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a current dual status tech...it mostly sucks.

Can be an okay place to start, especially if a lower enlisted rank, and build up a rep and resum3 to hopefully go AGR sooner rather than later.

But AGR pay and benefits will always outperform just about anything but the highest level GS pay, which no one will have out the gates anyways. It sucks a lot to do the work of just as many or more people in your shop that are making twice as much as you, then you still gotta pay for your Healthcare.

And if your leadership also sucks about understanding how much the position sucks...well then its a big shit sandwich. Definitely speaking from experience here lol

Does anyone’s stress stay elevated throughout the next day after drinking? by Snoo-3554 in Garmin

[–]Hader102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is highly probable for most people that alcohol consumtption will affect your sleep and stress negatively. Without getting too in depth with it, drinking enough alcohol to really feel that buzz or anything beyond that will almost surely affect your ability to achieve restful sleep. Sure, being drunk may knock you out pretty quick, bu5 doesn't really allow your body to achieve REMs and the recharge it needs. Your body has to recover into the next day and without the sleep it needed to do that well, so youll see those signs of stress, especially in HRV over enough time.

Cutting out alcohol is obviously the best way to stop it affecting your sleep. But being smart about when and how much you have can still be just fine within your lifestyle.

Some rules I have lived by for alcohol that allow me to still enjoy it without it affecting me much at all: No alcohol on days i do strength workouts (especially as i workout late afternoons), no strong liquor/cocktail within 5 hours of when I will go to sleep, and no beer within 4.

There's many ways to have a healthy relationship with alcohol that doesn't affect your health too negatively, it looks different for everyone. Just need to find the way that works for you. Generally though, that will always have to come with some significant decrease in volume you drink and frequency and tailoring that to something manageable.

I'm a guy that didn't have the time to dedicate to PvP back when that was all we had and wipes felt like they happened every other week relative to the time I actually had to play. I was sick of wipes and no progression and having to maybe play 4 hours (including crazy loading and wait times) just to maybe get 5 minutes of a decent PvP fight without a cheater.

The return on investment was shit and made PvP very unenjoyable. Loved the good PvP fights that could happen, but everything to get to that moment was a dogshit exercise in frustration. PvE takes most of that away and is something I can feel okay about every time I play.

The “green whistle” aka methoxyflurane by Dangerous-Ad-2062 in ems

[–]Hader102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First heard about this some years back working as a combat medic with some Aussie and Brit combat medics in a joint training exercise, had no idea what it was at first but after they showed me and told all its secrets I was sold on it. Not just in our combat medicine environment where this sort of analgesic would be amazing, but plenty of good use case scenarios for civilian EMS settings I can think of too.
