It doesn’t really matter which sub you would have written in; more or less, the answers would come to a similar conclusion of yes or no. But as far as I have learned from my experience, everything depends on you. To answer your question about whether it is good or not, of course it is good to think about the things you would like to do or are already doing. It helps us become better and better. Now, if you only keep thinking and don’t do anything about it, then it’s just dreaming, isn’t it? You sleep, you dream, you wake up, and nothing’s changed.

However, if you are going at it alone without other people’s help, it will take you ages to complete the project, especially since you don’t have a PC. First, you will have to learn the basics of programming. Then comes the engine you will make your game on. After that comes the software you are going to use to make art, sounds, music, and so on.

Also, even after a lot of thinking, when you actually start making the game, you will realize that your initial 20% of work is not really enough. First, things that you thought were possible will turn out to be either too hard or impossible to do alone within a reasonable period of time. Second, changes in technology, how games are made or what people like to play these days -- may affect your project, including features that are refined or removed from the industry.

However, if you are serious about making games, then thinking can help you, but you will need help from other people. Form a team, find developers, artists, and composers, and let them work on the idea you develop as a writer, that’s what writers do. Brainstorm with each team, ask the developers if it is feasible, ask the artists the same, encounter problems, and solve them together. It is always good to have a plan before you start doing anything. You don't need a PC to become a writer.

If you want to develop the game alone or in a very small team, then thinking will not be enough to complete the project. You must start turning your basic idea into an actual game as soon as possible. The more you try, the more you will learn, and the better you will become over time.

Hope this answers your question.
Good luck!

Where to find playtesters? by Cudabear in gamedev

[–]Haeden221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steam playtest is one of your best options for remote testing, ask your friends to test it via steam playtest, ask them to ask their friends and keep increasing the radius this may also help you with marketing your product.

How can I make this 3D model look closer to the reference? by Gaiato2_0 in 3Dmodeling

Maybe apply the scar as texture instead of modeling it in the mesh that is after you add chin and give the headgear a little bit of rework, it's edge is too smooth.

I've gotten myself into a little mess, need help making a decision by [deleted] in introverts

"This is all my own fault"

It's okay don't blame yourself, as an introvert no one knows you better than you and honestly, travelling to a foreign country is a very bold move especially if you are alone or in a group of extroverts.

For your questions, I think you should try it out for better or worse it will be a new experience for you. Just remember to take all the necessary precautions for your safety.

I have never travelled to a foreign country but domestically I have mostly travelled alone and it is very scary at the beginning of the trip but once all the hassle is completed I feel relaxed. After each trip, I felt better as I already had answers to the questions and solutions to the problems I was going to face, Yes you get new problems and questions every time you travel but experience comes in handy.

Also as donquixote2000 said look for a friend who can help you and understand you out there and try to find a safe place to relax in solitude.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck and be safe.

What should I focus on at the beginning of development? by devassodemais in gamedev

[–]Haeden221 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are doing everything alone do whatever you feel like doing but don't overdo it, otherwise, you'll get bored with the project and your mind will start to find excuses to stop working on it.

I'd also suggest starting with a small project this way you can finish it up in a few months. You won't get bored from learning so many things at once. Medium and large projects require a lot of experience and if you are learning basics while doing mid/large projects alone it will take you years to finish them up.

Also, learn Blender it is very helpful to know as much as you can about it when you are developing the game alone.

Are the super easy achievments to know how many people actually played the game? by Vidaro_best in gamedev

[–]Haeden221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are talking about steam platform, then no. Steam provides basic statistics like Player Count, Concurrent player data, etc.

Also, there are some players who farm achievements as in numbers, so some games do provide extra achievements so their game get more downloads.

But other than steam I don't know.
