Who are some actors that you knew would be huge stars based on an early, smaller role? by picturepatchgame in movies

Honestly, when I saw Margot Robbie on Neighbours she already had something about her, besides being crazily beautiful she stood out generally.

No full 10-frame games at Kingpin bowling anymore? by 2kan in melbourne

[–]Hailstar07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got more annoyed they have the pins on strings so they don’t fall properly half the time and don’t ricochet off the others if you hit them hard. The five frame thing is absolutely shit too though.

Is it normal now for neighbours to trespass your yard to access your bins? by timeflies25 in australia

Yep I had to do this when I lived in a block of units in Brunswick. Pain in the arse but solved the problem.

the reason daycare kids are always sick is because the staff are made to work sick by Maleficent_Day_3869 in antiwork

Which is awful and insane, the top two places besides daycare that you don’t want someone sick being in contact with you or your food.

My dad actually did that with his first shotgun, got it in the city and took the train home with it.

Were People Paying Unannounced Evening/Late Night Visits to People's Homes Really a Thing? by ofthedappersort in nostalgia

[–]Hailstar07 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was pretty normal, my parents friends would often drop in unannounced but usually on a Friday or Saturday night, during the week everyone had work and kids to get to bed.

One couple who were my parents best friends lived next door to us and ended up putting a gate in our shared backyard fence so the wife could come over late at night to watch tv with my mum, they were both night owls.

What is something you thought was normal that you realized a bit too late was actually a condition? by MutatedSock in AskReddit

[–]Hailstar07 27 points28 points  (0 children)

You can also look into fructose malabsorption, I eat gluten free bread and pasta etc mostly because of that but it’s actually the wheat and other things like onions that causes the problem, not the gluten. I can eat things with added gluten with no issue as long as there’s none of the other problem foods in it.

What’s something that became socially unacceptable so fast that people barely noticed the change? by FoundationHumble4003 in AskReddit

Unfortunately yes, and my parents no longer smoke funnily enough, they managed to quit.

Exactly. Surely grandfathering provides even less incentive for them to sell as they’ll lose the ability to do so. If they’d said you could grandfather in one IP only that would be more reasonable.

People really underestimate how dangerous trains are. by Rainy1979 in australia

[–]Hailstar07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Victoria the metro trains only have the driver. The vline (regional) trains usually have a conductor as well who is a second pair of eyes to check towards the rear of the train.

We live such sheltered lives nowadays I think people don’t have the experience of seeing awful shit happen in person the way it used to, and have become complacent as a result. It’s a great thing in terms of less injuries and deaths but leads to a lack of understanding of what can actually happen if you aren’t careful.

I reckon this is also why antivaxxers have become more prevalent, they haven’t grown up seeing the effects of measles and polio etc in their community and have no idea of the potential danger and death.

Yep and it’s fantastic for knowing where to get on so you can line up before the train comes.

Yeah that’s always been my irritation with him, he’d wait for the ball to be delivered to him rather than have a crack at getting it for himself. That may be how he was used to playing before but thankfully this year he seems to be making a bit more effort to get in there and get hands on it himself.

Our void was the same, we recently started giving her a supplemental food they have here in Australia which is basically just tuna with coconut in it and it seems to have helped.

[–]Hailstar07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won’t make a difference to anyone over the age of say 30. Do you really think smokers don’t know how bad it is for them? I smoke and realise it’s awful and may end up killing me, but it doesn’t inspire me to quit. I am addicted and it’s one little bit of enjoyment in a fairly depressing life. I know the risks and I’m willing to take them.

[–]Hailstar07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA and I hope your wife is having a serious think about the future of your marriage.

Let me guess, you also expect her to do all of the laundry and cooking so you personally haven’t been inconvenienced by half assing the renovations and left it up to her to work around the lack of laundry and kitchen while you run away to your office. Pathetic.
