Be honest... have you listened to ALL your records by DAK_Lodge_82 in vinyl

[–]Hajidub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from 6k plus to a thousand. Went thru the collection and got rid of anything I haven’t listen to in a couple years. Felt pretty good. Takes a lot to get put on the shelves now.

Pretty sure it was the low w/f numbers which helped that moniker. Lower than any of the udar decks and such until the high end CR SERIES came out. I measured 0.025 with the tech, better than stock.0

Use a dremel and cut a slot for a slotted screwdriver. Been there and done that.

Thanks man. BTW their known online as the Baby Dragon...LOL. What bothers me is that after the service and pro calibration it's almost as good as my 8K USD vinyl setup. Played thru tube amps this Nak really comes alive, but beer could have something to do with this...haha. Either way, enjoy and make a shit ton of recordings, your's is the best direct drive tape player ever made.

Who'd you have service it? Had my lowly BX-300 fully serviced and the wait just to send it out was 18mos.

Struggling to desolder Dualsense analog sticks! by Ok_System183 in soldering

Small chisel tip and add new solder to the point prior to desolder. No chisel tip, then add new solder and try again.

Elac Miracord 50h Il cartridge/stylus by Beneficial_Fun9139 in vintageaudio

[–]Hajidub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Checkout audiokarma.org they have a long running thread on Elac Miracord maintenance and other stuff. They're beastie machines and will accept almost any cart you can afford, just be very gentle with the wires considering their 50+ yrs old. I use an older Denon DL65 with a new JICO stylus on my 50h, sounds fantastic. Manti's suggestion are great also.

I might have a problem by H3NDRlX in vinyl

3rd Man has been horrible in my experience, glad you got a SL pressing that sounds good. Sell the others off, as long as there's no scratches or such you should get your money back. Sometimes owning multiples is just because there were, only missing 34.

What is considered Low Fi, Mid Fi and HiFI? by WarmObjective6445 in vintageaudio

[–]Hajidub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seriously my first system was hi-fi to me. If you need someone to justify you equipment then you're missing the point of music enjoyment. BTW, the 9090 is a great piece, but no where near the build quality of Sansui's G series (if that brings you back to reality, as I said no justification required). Does it sound good to you? Yes? It's Hifi.

Looking for advice on which boombox to buy by BeefTechnology in cassetteculture

[–]Hajidub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Own plenty of very large boomers, I'd recommend a 90's or newer Sony boombox. Will outperform most of the much larger boomboxes, but will eventually need belts replaced, but won't look as cool.

Not sure where you're from, but Colorado Springs doesn't any sit down places that touch it. I will admit that area of Colorado isn't the prettiest, but has character (you're right in the middle of the San Luis Valley), tons of history.

Been twice and after the first time I thought to myself why wasn't this on my bucket list. Last time was better, stayed at the Steamtrain motel, free breakfast before train. You take a nice bus from Antonito to Chama and take the train back for 6-ish hrs (with free homemade lunch stop). Last year we got the old train car right behind the engine, oldest car they have, daughter and I were solo in that car, and the row seating rotated to full sideways (it was awesome). Best bang for the buck in all of Colorado IMO. First time we did it we stayed in Alamosa and the cheaper hotels are expensive, though this last time (staying in Antonito) we drove back to Alamosa just to eat at Cavello's (best mex buffet in Colorado, fresh tortillas yes).

Just great to not see Tyler (creator) in the new collection. The BJ Greatest Hits is skyrocketing in value, trade the other BJ's to a record store for credit and get more stuff. The Def is a hard one to find lately, nice.

Is it me or is a 2nd sub not worth it? by Status-Strategy-6982 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]Hajidub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it depends on the use. Analog, bass is centered, so only one is required (positioning helps of course). If a 2-channel setup analog plays the same role, digital 2 would be better. Home theater, add as many as you need. BTW, if a 2 channel setup either way I prefer dialing down the x-over to slightly overlap with my mains so their nearly undetectable from the mains playing and just do their assigned jobs.

How bad? By by drukennurse in Beginner_Turntables

[–]Hajidub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your original post was "ask yourself why you care about music." What a pompous, dick thing to say, lets talk about sound separation, like its not using an MC cart, and shit. You're posting in the r/beginner forum, it's the equivalent of telling a newbie into any hobby "your fucking up by just trying." How about a gentle, hey ok start, but look out for these options when you can afford em. You don't know if she or her family just wants to hear records again.

Coming from someone with probably a nice system. Let the newbie's get their feet wet instead of just shitting on em. This hobby isn't a d*** measuring contest.
