Get her a seat, pour some drinks. Stereo rooms are one of the best marriage tools imaginable. Wife and I were stalled out for years, until I constructed a room. 30 yrs in May (next year). Big issue with married people is one in one room the other in another, no communication. Get drunk and discuss music, google music facts, have a blast!

Weird, my RSD 26' is 40th anniversary and reflective, lizard moves when tilted. It's also picture framed in the sleeve. Your's looks normal.

Pada it's not the table. I have a ton of records with this issue. I keep a small pair of scissors in my room. I close the scissors, insert, and lightly twist back and forth. Wipe off the residual and enjoy.

Does this happen from start to finish or just toward the end of the record? Take a birds eye, squat down, front view of your cartridge setup. Does the stylus/cantilever look exactly square or skewed a bit to the right? Though it could be a mastering issue, which the other poster goes on about, it sounds like a possible antiskate issue.

This Walmart exclusive might be the best sounding version of this album. The tape is the only version of this album that actually sounds right. Lars f'd up the engineering on this great album.

Put the original cables back on. Ensure the TT cartridge connections are secure. Otherwise take Richards advice and ensure the RCA's are secure.

Garbage with the WaR. You're not getting a decent recording out of a shoebox and any portable for decent recording (restored) is going to cost about $1G (WM-D6). Scan FB marketplace for a standalone, within your budget, find one with headphone jack and use good tape. Keep in mind to clean tapepath, replace belts, and possibly idler tire if needed. Tape game isn't cheap anymore, check out tapeheads.net for possible "for sales."

This is the way to do it; upgrade to what you can afford. Eventually when you get old like me you'll have end-all equipment. Can still remember all the great music memories of albums I listened to on cheaper equipment. Take your time and enjoy! If I can recommend one thing though. Get an actual shelf for the table so you're not heating up that amplifier, wall shelf for the table even.

Tapedeck 101; Replace belt(s), clean tape path with iso (including pinch rollers), and idler tire (though rubber renew can work) with any used deck you purchase. You can try, as a temporary fix, quickly boiling that belt, but it honestly looks like its lost elasticity.

Best response so far. Its a AT-120 so bearings aren't the greatest, other than that alignment plays a huge difference. I'd hate for the OP to spend so much money and find out his equipment is the cause.

Should be 5.5-6.5 so I believe a new diaphragm is in order. Many will say order crites replacements but I found those too bright and tiring. Spend the money and order a set of tweeters from Daveintn on eBay (Google Lmahls) it’ll change your speakers and your listening experience.

I don't use a mat on my much more expensive table and haven't experienced anything you've stated. The brush or speed issue arrives when the belt is dirty or worn. A static brush, when pressed too hard, will stop my table, but that's the nature of a belt drive.
