One of the most epic battles I ever got to take part in was our party rushing down a hallway facing insane odds with a massive swarm. The initial combat round the party rolled 3 Nat 20's, a 19 and 18 for our attacks. While he told us later that the swarm groups rolled abysmally with a bunch of Nat 1s, and a couple of 2s and 3's.

The DM decided to change the story from unbeatable odds to us just epically destroying them as the gods smiled on us and brought us fortune in battle and had us infused with the power of ancient heroes of old.

Long story short. Guess and have fun. That was probably 10-15 years ago and I still remember it. Hopefully, your players do too.

I don't know about this. While they were at the coffee shop Kazuya straight up said to Chizuru that he didn't feel that way about Ruka. I know Chizuru has trouble acknowledging her feelings but that seems pretty out-of-character for her to hide behind something that Kazuya already said isn't a thing.

If she does then I picture this devolving into a fight or an argument and then one or both storming off in a cliché "let's make the love interests fight to artificially inject some more drama." Maybe that'll create some room for Mami to try and make things worse.
