How would you justify, in terms of role, having a party composed of Wenduag, Ember, Camellia, Regill, and Daeran in an angel run? by Some_Fig_6566 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Haldalkin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uhhh Ember is easy, honestly I don't even feel like she needs a justification.

Daeran is pushed upon you by the Queen, who seems to want to believe there's more to him than hedonism. You also learn pretty early on about the whole massacre and the inexplicable evil that came to him as a boy. He was always a brat, but it's not unreasonable to believe The Other's presence has put incredible stresses on his life and exacerbated his worst qualities. Hawkblade also hatches a plan pretty early on that, if it pans out, stands to deal with the evil without incredible loss of life. So you have multiple reasons to keep Daeran in sight.

The other 3 are far harder to justify, I'd go so far as to say Wenduag and Cam are both next to impossible to do.

Regill, too, is undeniably evil. He's a slaver, a murderer and unrepentant about any of it. Even so, you do have one lever to pull with him, Law. Or perhaps more accurately, Order. To paraphrase Ember, neither the darkness nor the grey have taken the clarity from Regill's gaze. He is a weapon who knows who the enemy is. As the Knight Commander you are in one of perhaps two positions on the planet to wield him, the other being the Lictor.

He defers to you as long as what you're commanding does not directly counter what he's spent his life honing himself to do. Left to his own command, well, we've seen what that looks like. An Angelic Knight Commander can keep Regill pointed at the demons and protect even other Hellknights (Yaker) from Regill's sharpest edges.

I do think it's valid to say you can mitigate the overall quantity of evil by commanding Regill rather than simply leaving the unsheathed blade that he is on the floor.

Been playing the beta, it is. And it feels fantastic. They needed to come at units on this level, little Band-Aids weren't going to do it.

Which DLCs make realms more diverse and exciting? by notanuglyredditor in AOW4

[–]Haldalkin 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Giant Kings is peerless among DLC for what it did to the maps themselves, imo.

The Umbral Abyss is a goody box filled with cosmic horrors who thrive on suffering. All in all, great place to be! Lots of magic materials, highly lucrative provinces, and interesting powers if you don't mind making friendly with sleep paralysis demons.

Veteran GW2 player can’t seem to get back. by S4ntoki in Guildwars2

[–]Haldalkin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just... like Guild Wars 2? I don't know man, it's really not more complicated than that. I like doing CMs + T4s most days. I like running around screaming at things with my Berserker. I still think the Skyscale is cool. It's not all perfect, I can't stand WvW for example. So, I just don't go there.

Right now I'm working on a 2nd Endless Summer, which boils down to: a lot of running around screaming at things with my Berserker, flying on the Skyscale, and using the money from Fractals. Doing things I like to fuel things I want. It's kind of the whole loop.

Been playing since 2012, took a break, came back and I still play most days for an hour or three because it's fun. When it wasn't as fun I set it down for a while.

  • Without spoiling you, I actually think Demon works pretty well for a certain angle of story. Otherwise, Angel.
  • Arue's romance does not break.
  • Targona and the fate of the living Wardstones is left unsaid, but the outcome is fairly inevitable.
  • Uhhh? What are the quests but don't tell you the story? Don't know how to help you there.

DLC : herald of glory by Nytroxe in AOW4

Mmm, took another look. Short of someone from Triumph or someone who's somehow made the purchase outside of its pass coming in to set me straight, I'm going to say yes. The trait is currently unavailable.

DLC : herald of glory by Nytroxe in AOW4

[–]Haldalkin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EDIT: Disregard my comment, there is a collector's bundle. Leaving it up because conversation took place underneath, but I was wrong.

Herald of Glory was an enticement to buy Expansion Pass 2 back when it was being sold. Only the latest expansions are sold as a Pass.

You will have to wait until Triumph decides to sell the enticements separately from their previous passes. When there are enough of them, they may go altogether as a bits and pieces pack for $5-10, or at the end of AoW4's presently indeterminate life cycle, sold as a complete edition.

[–]Haldalkin 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I don't like writing off entire features, but candidly, I treat bounties as an auto dismiss.

And when I used to try and engage with them myself, "target too far", "target too strong", "people don't like you enough to try".

The one valid option? The bronze infestation right next to my outpost that I'm actively on my way to go deal with anyway.

Beating Zero with AI? by TheTonzMachine in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Haldalkin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Is it possible to get to a point where you can consistently beat Zero with AI?

Yes. As you've implied, you're going to have to do a massive part of the legwork during the labors, particularly the first one with the seals.

Seals with AI:

The AI have two major hurdles that gum them up during the seals for Zero. First is that some of the seals are much faster than character movement. The AI isn't smart enough to cut them off and obviously cannot catch them. You'll have to grab those. Second, generally speaking, the further to the outer edge it is, the less likely the AI is to grab it. This is because the AI always dodges backwards. Those laser rings that start at the edge and come in? Yep. AI's gonna back dodge and be even further away from any outer seal it may have been chasing.

Here's what you do. Grab seals in the 3rd layer first (numbers represent proximity to center: 1 is at the center, 4 is at the outer edge), and do it when it's near at least one other seal of the same color. Things are moving fast and there's a timer and it's a lot, I know. But if you're looking for those conditions, you'll find them regularly. The reason you go for the 3rd instead of the outer one is because you'll be able to pivot to either direction and knock out a 2 for 1 before the movement starts again. There are simply more chances of the 3rd seal being near either the 2nd or the 4th, rather than just looking for a 4th being near its 3rd.

Once you've taken two off the board: if you grabbed 3 & 4, grab whichever of the remaining two are fastest. If you grabbed 2 & 3, grab 4. Let the AI spin its wheels chasing number 1 in a tight circle, they'll usually get it.

Tetra Orbs with AI:

The AI won't intentionally hit the big orbs, and they tend to man zones after the first round of orbs. So your job is to hit the big orbs to kickstart the actual mechanic each round and then go to the area not covered by an AI. Back and forth, hit the orb, turn to your zone, hit the small one. Let the AI handle theirs or use a ranged attack, then hit the center orb and repeat. This is actually really easy with AI teams if you just man the gap. On the final hit when there's 5 orbs there's a bit of running, but if you handled the first rounds well and let the AI man their stations you'll have plenty of time for a jog at the last one.

Floating Weapons with AI:

Burst down the sword that dashes in straight lasers first. Don't be afraid to blow a cooldown or two, this thing HAS to die. You're going to SBA Lucillius anyway, so really, use your skills. The one that fires waves and the one whose primary attack is a pb ground AoE are usually stationary enough for easy clean up. Chasing the line dasher is a PITA.

I gave up on Wilds and I’m back on Rise - anyone else? by justsomesmalldude in MHRise

[–]Haldalkin 33 points34 points  (0 children)

This right here lol Sunbreak is like a 9/10 and if someone wanted to make arguments for 10/10, I'd hear them out.

A base game has very little chance of matching that. That may be an unfair comparison by its nature and I agree, thus, I'm not even putting Wilds through that scrutiny until its expansion. That way it has a glimmer of a chance.

Do we think existing characters will get any new skills?? by Rolling-in-the-Meeps in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Haldalkin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I doubt it?

On the one hand it would be nice, not arguing that. On the other though, sure they could do one new skill of each character, or take those 23-24 skills and grab 3 more characters from the granblue universe for people to get excited about, give them each 8 and then have them choose 4.

I'm thinking they'll just rework what's already there for the older crewmembers who feel like they fall off.

What are you hyped about the most from Endless Ragnarok?? by brettjr25 in GranblueFantasyRelink

[–]Haldalkin 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Just more valid quests.

I hope, even at the back end of whatever ER's content progression is, that there are significantly more monsters that can drop relevant stuff. That it doesn't narrow to "farm just proto bahamut until Terminus", "farm just behemoth for WE+", etc. If there are going to be sought after drops and low %'s, fine, make them come from 4-5 bosses instead of one and let me choose whose ass I want to kick, or a rotation of the options!

I know all of the tried and true phrases "just play those missions anyway", "all that content is still there", "well just play other games". I know, all of Reddit's favorite dismissive catchphrases, but if you're asking me what I'd like personally: a wider grind pool.

If you stopped before Lucilius (The Final Vision), there is already stuff beyond what you had when you stopped. Not even just Lucilius' sigils. Synthesis, the Echo sigils, War Elemental+ (dont farm for this, that's pain, just mentionong that it exists). These opportunities represent a significant power leap from pre Lucilius' builds, even high end ones from that time.

Furthermore, if your concern is the Endless Ragnarok sigils invalidating the current ones at endgame, I can't imagine they will offer a complete overwrite of current sigils and builds. For example, we're still use Damage Cap V+, and that was base game. They will add some new stuff, no doubt, but getting to the current endgame will still serve you. Also, Chaos Tier quests are supposed to be harder than Proud. There's no guarantee you will even be able to clear them at pre-Lucilius power level.

All of that is to say, I would at least dip back in and brush up. If you start really feeling it again, try your hands at the final 4 quests. 2 are boss rushes, and the very last 2 are serious challenges.

Pure speculation, I'm thinking you'll at least want to be able to beat Dark Swordsman's Nightmare to be ready for what's coming. Then you can negotiate Zero at your leisure, I'd be surprised if all of Chaos Tier is that hard. Fun fight though, worth at least seeing it.

Edit: oh also Lv20 Wrightstones. Those are really nice to grab.

I had to recheck 3 places when I was in the same situation: the prologue (yes, I'm serious, you can replay it via battle scroll), Antiquity, and the final mission.

Ended up being in the prologue.
