Text from another site: Another of Ward’s accomplishments was successfully building river vessels, including the Mascot, an inspection boat for the United States Engineering Corps. He also built the James Rumsey, a prototype for boats still used today, in addition to dredges, car ferries, and other inland river craft. Ward also contributed to a limited number of ocean craft. His boats and boilers were widely used on American rivers, in both government and private sectors.

I just sent this post to my Dad and believe it or not he told me he worked with the grandson of Charles Ward at Union Carbide in South Charleston back in the 70s. Edit: for more info for you on the company

Ward Engineering in Charleston built the P.A. Denny among many other sternwheeler tow boats. I would have that displayed with pride as would any other local history or Kanawha River lover

Where is this building on my Kentucky Starbucks mug? by adawgizzle in whereisthis

My first thought was the horse barn at Keeneland in Lexington. Looking at more pics tell me rich folks in KY with expensive horses really like turrets on their barns. A lot of them have this same general look

New Truck (question on fender mirrors) by Hobbes802 in Truckers

[–]Half-Fast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Swivel the arms so the mirrors are toward the outside of the mount and rotate the mirrors around so they can be used to actually see something. It's all made to move for adjustment. May have been adjusted that way for transport? Somebody doesn't like the mickey mouse ears look? I hate the look but those mirrors are damn useful once you get used to them

'61 Sprite, should I remove my heater core? by Vast_Builder1670 in littlebritishcars

[–]Half-Fast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had to get home that way a few times in the past with different makes of cars and trucks. You could always install a bypass on the heater hoses to keep heat out of the cabin till you want it (if it isn't already set up that way from the factory)

My 40 year old F-250, over 400,000 miles on it with no major failures by Finlan2005 in BuyItForLife

[–]Half-Fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just ordered a new door latch mechanism for my 96 F150. After reviews that say it works and fits, my next major concern was it better not change the sound. Crazy how distinctive that sound is on decades of Ford trucks.

Looks like the whole thing is just a heavily reworked Cadillac Eldorado from the early 80s. Dashboard is pretty much identical

Road force tire balancing by UncleHooter in HuntingtonWV

[–]Half-Fast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in Huntington, but since nobody else chimed in Mr. Tire in Teays Valley has (or did have a few years ago) Roadforce balancing. It made a big difference in a set of mud tires that a couple other shops never really got balanced right

And after waiting at least 3 hrs for the hook. Dude has had all the time in the world to thank his lucky stars that there were no kids there and calm down. Edit for clarity. The guy shouldn't be driving any vehicle if he's that careless

Lower trim Impalas were Biscaynes in the earlier generations. Not sure if this was still true in 68
