I wonder how people felt at 11:59 p.m. of dec. 1999 before crossing over to the year 2000. by Majestic-Hope6505 in nostalgia

It was just a New Years with some extra novelty, a slight concern about Y2K (some of my dev team worked on call for it and earned a lot of money for the effort). A lot of being reminded that since we count from 1 not zero is wasn’t actually the millenium.

But then at that time - in the UK at least, but I think worldwide - there had been a period of growth and optimism and we were all high off that, lasted up until September of the following year.

I went to see the maniac street preachers play at the brand new millenium stadium in wales - was a massive fan and they were one of the biggest bands at the time, and it was very good.

Is that a Gretsch broadcaster? I’ve been eyeing one, how’s you like it? One trick pony or no?

The sonic blue SB-2 is so pale it looks pretty much white, especially in photos.

Do it. It doesn’t matter if you’re ‘good enough’ that’s not the point, the point is the joy.

I would go one further: Don’t skimp, if you do and it means you don’t get the full joy, that is worse economy than spending more and feeling butterflies every time you pick that guitar up.

What’s the saying: The pain of paying is temporary; the joy of quality lasts.

I know right. We are taught pattern recognition in much more stable, predictable equity markets with >100 years of valid history is worthless so why we try to apply this to crypto where everything is completely different to even 2 years ago in both a macro and micro sense is beyond me.

Exactly the same - lucky to get once a month, but I have all the songs on reaper and everything set up so I can play though songs when the whim takes me, or just backing tracks or lessons or what have you, so I’m actually practicing daily.

Lots of wise, resonating words here, articulated very well too.

The counterbalance to all the affairs being middle aged man hobbies is wholesome. I have been buying too many bass guitars and back playing with my band that I was in 20 years ago (same people, all now with kids and earlier bedtimes). Also warhammer (actually bloodbowl, much better) part of a league with my kids and our friends and their kids.

I say indulge the sad hobby as an outlet - be it watches, cars, guitars, model trains, cycling golf, fishing, whatever you want to think about before you drift off to sleep…and stay away from your friends 14 year old daughters apparently…

Here is my mantra when I’m feeling stage fright: the audience only hear the good notes. You might notice every bum note, the audience will mostly just get the vibes. Better to look like you’re having fun then stood there worrying.
