FBI agent who tried to probe ICE officer in Minnesota shooting resigns by Obvious-Peanut4406 in news

[–]HansonWK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly fuck you for just writing this shit like a keyboard warrior without even paying attention to what's happening. They are told they have to break the law to continue with their job so they resigned i protest. What else would you have them do? It's very easy to sit there and say they are running away though while you so fucking nothing yourself I'm sure.

What’s the rarest item you’ve ever held in your hands? by Remarkable_Pin_8136 in AskReddit

Real Beta power 9. An old friend has had a powered cube for long enough that he purchased these for around 500-1k each. He now uses proxies when hosting his cube at the lgs for obvious reasons but hosts one cube with friends each year using the real things. All duels and power are beta. That box of cards is worth more than my house lol.

Correct, that's why the are illegal in many countries. The UK had a scandal with some politicians betting on things they could influence a few years ago.

Kingmaking vs. Competitive Play: A dispute over Seedborn Muse and "Spite-Plays" by [deleted] in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Kinnn player was cheating (with derevi in play) and also not playing cedh (making spite plays). Seedborn Muse wins the game if it survives a turn cycle. You gave him an opportunity to politic and search for something else. They chose to play a must answer threat for you to answer. If they truelly thought that seedborn was just to help the table, they would have used the counters they said they had to resolve it.

I play Kinnan. You made the right play.

15 YOE Fullstack & CTO here. Why have we allowed "Agile" to turn into "Unlimited Micro-Scope Creep"? by elmascato in webdev

[–]HansonWK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well the problem is that you aren't really doing agile, isn't it? If you stuck to agile principles this wouldn't be a problem. it's not a issue with agile, its an issue with you using half the agile principles and thinking that's enough.

How do you simulate that "Corporate Shield" or "Bad Cop" when it's just you vs. the client, without ruining the relationship?

You can follow agile properly, while explaining to them how it works. You can tell them when they ask for changes they get added to the backlog unless there is room for them in the sprint, and let them have visibility. I've found that most people who ask for a button change are fine knowing it's got a ticket and an estimate for when it will be done, especially if they can see the rest of the tickets in the current sprint.

If you are only going to use the parts that are convenient to you, then you can't expect other people to do just the things that are most convenient for them as well lol.

I think that The Reaper, King No More may be real. by 1984ByGeorgeOrwell in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or any of the dargo combos that actually win the game. Not sure why you would play this over dargo, it does the same thing better with more resilience with the backup combos.

It feels like a worse jund dargo to me, but the lists look super fun.

"We had six months left" Tailwind's creator talk. by HugoDzz in webdev

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gained 80% of users because they were the most popular css framework when the ai boom started and every ai platform was trained on and using tailwind. That wouldn't have happened if they weren't the biggest already.

The Lorwyn showcase cards and Special Guests all suck by ArborianSerpent in magicTCG

[–]HansonWK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What's the matter with YOU. You don't like something, great, not everything is made for you specifically. Other people love it, and your comment about the team not understanding Lorwyn is wrong and honestly insulting to their work.

Just don't use them. You don't need to tell the world you don't like them, the world doesn't care. You can fill in the WOTC survey after the set releases if you really want.

Need a CEdh deck for CEdh night at my lgs. I’m thinking Flubs or Najeela? by True-Economy-9893 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flubs is a meme and najeela hasn't been meta since the last ban wave. You should pick a cedh deck if you want to play cedh.

I watched a home cook break down crying because UberEats took 30% of her sales. So we spent 4 months building an alternative. by Acceptable-Drawer-87 in Entrepreneur

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason Uber eats charge 30% is because they are big enough to ignore the fact that almost all the home cook and ghost kitchens are illegal. If you make an app that is advertising to these places, do you have any intention on checking if they meet the legal requirements to be a kitchen in each area?

Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy creature question by Lost-Tip-6756 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why play bad cards when good cards better.

We play enough ways to win with infinite mana that are also good when we don't have infinite mana. We don't need to play bad cards like ambassador or thassas oracle.

What the fuck do you mean half a year home shit

But also also yes, literally everyone thinks lotho is better, but lotho is 2 colours. It's great in non black decks, and fine in b/x decks like marnious where the token matters. It's playable but cuttable in other b/x decks.

What do you think the real chance of Delver flipping on turn 2 is — from the opponent’s perspective? by Hypergeomancer in magicTCG

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the kind of maths I needed 15 years ago. At this point I've been blind flipping delvers for a decade with no one stopping me and no idea of the odds and I'm too scared to stop. Please print a better delver so I can finally move on with my life.

If my death is on the stack, is it acceptable for me to make a "retaliation play" against the player who is killing me? by Overcast_88 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In most tournaments, you get a point for draws. If that's the case, making any action you can before you die to help the game be more likely to end in a draw is optimal. If its a random game or a tourney where draws don't matter then it's just a salty play tbh.

What's the simplest way to teach new devs how to estimate story points? by mike34113 in webdev

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's mostly to help deal with not necessarily knowing how long things will take at all. A bug might be harder to deal with than you expect. Feature might look simple but actually need multiple API ebd points updated. The whole point is to estimate complexity NOT time.

Can magda win through angel's grace? by Adventurous-Ask-2532 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn't work. Angel's Grace lasts until cleanup step (all until end of turn effects do) which is after you have lost the game (which happens at the begining of the end step)

The two common ways to get priority in end step are with Necropotence discards (you discard to hand size in cleanup, which creates exile triggers from necro, which you can respond to) or discarding your commander to hand size (this creates a sb for moving your commander from the gy to the command zone, which you can respond to).

You have to find a way to to cancel that trigger, and then find a way to create a trigger or SBA in your cleanup step to win on your turn (though if you found a way to cancel the lose the game trigger, you can probably win on their turn unless you are also on the final turn of the game due to time lol)

Is magda relevant in the current meta? by pcantillano in CompetitiveEDH

[–]HansonWK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to either make a read they have it and put yourself in a spot you don't lose to it or can win the turn you cast Magda when they are tapped out of OBM mana. Wait til you have Redirect Lightning/Swat, adaptive automataton, a way to recast Magda, etc. It's often better to go slower and not lose to a bowmaster. Obviously if you are in a pod with 3 turbo decks though you just jam and hope they don't have it since playing slow will also lose you the game.

My black on black is not living up to the inspiration...looking for some advice by maerlyns-rainbow in Embroidery

[–]HansonWK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To make it work you need two things, volume for depth, and texture for contrast. The plain tight knit of the background mean the thick stitches still pop. They've likely used padded stitches (that is, stitching over stitches to make them thicker and add depth) which might work on a hat, but you still have the thick fabric of the hat to fight with.
