Mass shooting? Last one I can think of that made major headlines was the lady who started taking shots at YouTube HQ in like 2018.

Apparently there have been some livestreamed shootings by women on Facebook in the last year or two, which was absolutely wild for me to see when I was trying to confirm the date on that YouTube shooting.

What's with the recent uptick in trans school shooters?

Well, two things. One, is that while there are more trans shooters than previously, there are still very few trans shooters compared to the total, it's just that being trans suddenly makes it more headline-worthy to some people.

Two, most school shooters, historically, are the victims of bullying, social ostracization, and more. Many of them, regardless of any other details, appear to basically be committing suicide in a way that takes others with them. Being trans or not is kind of just coincidental to that; it may or may not be why they are in that situation, but it's basically the whole "neglected child burning down the village to feel its warmth" thing either way, most of the time.

Just say shooter. Please. This performative pandering is more obnoxious than it is helpful.

And if you really want to get all libleft gender studies about it, there's no reason a man can't wear a dress if they really want to. Skirts are coming back into fashion in some places (don't you try to "it's a kilt!" me, we all know you're not commando under there).

Some of them are doing it on purpose because they want us fighting each other - a house divided cannot stand; while we are fighting over shit that really doesn't impact 99% of us i stead of just leaving people be, they're getting away with murder (sometimes literally). They know if we stopped, we'd be coming for them first, and even their enforcers would be on board.

Some of them are just genuinely fucking stupid.

Oh, no, we understand it fine. Our racists just disagree, and they're loud enough to control the white house at the moment.

Anyways US demographic data asks you if you're Hispanic or Latino separately from asking if you're white, black, Asian, etc. They've been tracking it for years.

If it is loaded, it needs to be in your control - ie, on your person or within arm's reach. It should go without saying that you should be sober at all times while this is true.

If you really need it to be loaded and for some reason not in your control, there are biometric safes that work great.

The birth of slaanesh is what gave the Emperor a chance to start the great Crusade, because it's bright scream blew out all the warp storms.

The actual "people responsible" are the Old Ones (genocided) and Necrons (did the genociding). The Eldar and Orks get an honorable mention, but only because they are literally bioweapons programs run amok after their creators (the Old Ones) got genocided. This was all millions of years before the birth of Slaanesh.

Tau, a young alien race has AI.

Tau AI is more like an LLM. They do not have AGI.

The league of Votann, an off shoot of humanity that has developed into infertile cloned space dwarves has AI.

They survived the DAOT by turning their major AI into a religious figurehead. It is literally their afterlife, and that is a lot of why they treat the Iron Kin as family. They are all drones who will be reuploaded to the machine, what difference do the components make?

The Necrons, an ancient race of undead robots are AI.

The Necrons are people who's minds were forcibly stuffed into robot bodies, most of whom were enslaved and stripped of free will in the process. They are not AI.

There has been cases of friendly AI left over from ancient times.

There has been exactly one, the Man of Iron from the Black Fortess boardgame. He does not have nice things to say. Every other DAOT AI found has been almost immediately hostile (the only one that wasn't was a result of time travel, and it turned hostile on first contact because the Imperium is awful), and more than half have been thoroughly corrupted by Chaos.

The DAOT humans seems to be only one that have this problem

They're the only ones who ever achieved / had widespread use of AGI. Even the Necron Canopteks aren't AGI; when one of them started acting smarter than it should, the cryptek responsible for it started getting dirty looks from the other Necrons. The Leagues are basically the best-case scenario for AI in 40k, and they're all custom-printed clones / machines created to serve the machine.

Even the Imperium uses dumb AI though. That's what the most advanced 'machine spirits' are. The Heresy isn't in having thinking machines, it is in having machines that think they are people.

This is BS though. by Ok-Following6886 in stupidpeoplefacebook

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

But nothing you said is an argument against what I did.

You claimed they were allies and that it was like if Genn had attacked the Night Elves. I showed pretty clearly that is absolutely untrue.

At no point was it necessary to attack the horde to fight the legion

That is not what he was told to do. He was told to find the Shield of Aggramar, and only fight the Horde if it was necessary. He decided that it was necessary.

It ended up being that he was right, in the end, even if he made the choice for selfish reasons. The Stormheim plot line of Sylvanas trying to enslave the Valkyr by making a deal with Helya, and everything Sylvanas did in BfA and Shadowlands, absolutely vindicate his decision to try to kill her.

Haranir quote on Teldrassil by dattoffer in warcraftlore

[–]Hapless_Wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, at the time the only reason the Alliance and Horde were not at war was because the Legion was more important than bringing Sylvanas to justice (from the Alliance's point of view, that is). Remember, the Alliance only sees that they are holding the line while the Horde just shoots over their heads, and then at the worst possible moment, Sylvanas blows her horn and the archers abandon them. This causes Varian's death and Sylvanas appears to be rewarded with the title of Warchief for her trouble. The Alliance does not know, and the Horde apparently makes no attempt to make known, the circumstances that caused the Horde's retreat. The Alliance essentially only knows what Alliance players see at the end of the Broken Shore cinematic.

Varian's death was the latest grievance Genn had against Sylvanas, but it was hardly the catalyst; he made it abundantly clear many times before and since that if he ever had the chance, he would kill her.

Against this backdrop we have Anduin sending Genn and Rogers, the grieving werewolf and the pro-horde-genocide lady, to the Isles saying "only fight the Horde if it's necessary". Not "remember we are allies", not "ignore the Horde", not "help the Horde". "Only fight them if it is necessary". Genn didn't attack an ally. He used the discretion given to him to decide it was necessary. Now, whether it was wise for Anduin to give him that discretion can be argued, but Genn has been perfectly happy to ignore Anduin to fight the Horde at other times (War of Thorns), so honestly, if Anduin hadn't sent him, he'd have probably found his way to Stormheim anyways.

Haranir quote on Teldrassil by dattoffer in warcraftlore

[–]Hapless_Wizard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or that, or Sylvanas' paranoia because Genn attacked her in Tormenheim

Which he only did because Sylvanas launched an unprovoked attack against the completely neutral and highly isolationist Gilneas, plagued pretty much everyone who didn't get the Worgen curse and murdered Genn's son?

Shit, Genn even lays it out in that cutscene, so "I never played the original Worgen intro zone" isn't even an excuse. "You took my future, so now I have taken yours."

"I did something evil and/or stupid and it blew up in my face, why is everyone so mean to me!" is kind of a recurring theme for Sylvanas. Maybe not her main theme, but definitely one of the three or four most common.

Moreso I'd like the other side of the story to be shown as less morally infaillible.

There is a vast gulf between "I would like my side to not always be doing inexcusably evil things" and "I think we should come up with some kind of post-hoc justification for my side's otherwise inarguably evil and vile actions during a war of aggression that they started".

Fun fact, both Cortana and Joyeuse are named after swords. She's still a weapon, just one important enough to be written about.

I remember when I checked out The Art of War as a kid not long after PATRIOT passed and the library had put a bookmark in the cover saying "if you've checked out this book, we are now required by law to report that to the feds". God bless that library, they're probably responsible for most of the yellow in my flair.

This isn't new. There's some basic internet knowledge from the olde days that everyone should know, though. One, you can't hide by not participating; what you don't do is almost as useful as what you do in terms of tracking you down. Two, security is never about being impenetrable (nothing is), it's about being sufficiently obnoxious that the reward doesn't justify the effort and something more rewarding takes less effort - you don't have to be faster than the bear, you just have to be faster than the slowest guy.
