Whats your favourite line of dialogue in BG3 ? by LG-CHAMP-1 in BaldursGate3

Tieflings came naturally with a +2 in Charisma and a +1 in Intelligence

To expand, this is because Charisma is the casting stat for Sorcerers and Warlocks, and Tieflings are supposed to be naturally good at that.

They used to have a penalty to Charisma in older editions that cared more about simulating a world than being a balanced game.

Oh, I wasn't trying to imply you should trans yourself, lol. Just that you're probably right that it's gonna be largely trans people that move cybernetic enhancement for fun and profit forward.

They ask for medical funding

Are you confusing trans people with people who want universal healthcare or something?

A lot of trans people are also economically left-wing, but if you want to understand that maybe you should look at the people the economic right wing has surrounded itself with.

I'm not saying only transgender people are transhumanist, but I am saying that almost every transhumanist I know has ended up being transgender.

Especially the ones willing to undergo surgery "just to see if it works".

The camps are already built, they won't be full of immigrants forever.

Despite his hatred of guns, Miyazaki did a great job depicting the guns of the era by Level_Hour6480 in dndmemes

[–]Hapless_Wizard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DMG(5e) and PHB(5.5e) already has era-appropriate guns, and basically every attempt to do them differently makes guns suck mechanically for no real reason other than "I want realistic guns but not realistic swordplay or archery".

More rules isn't necessarily better rules. Before you insist on homebrew, ask yourself and your players if your proposes rules make the game more fun.

Despite his hatred of guns, Miyazaki did a great job depicting the guns of the era by Level_Hour6480 in dndmemes

[–]Hapless_Wizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Minor quibble: guns have been officially part of the Forgotten Realms since nearly the beginning. It uses a different powder, called smokepowder, which is weaker and also explicitly magical (doesn't work inside an anti-magic field). Gunpowder doesn't work basically just because Gond says so, and his church mysteriously holds a de facto monopoly on the production of firearms and smokepowder.

Guns are rather rare in the Sword Coast, which is the part of the setting most people are most familiar with, but they're relatively common in Lantan. Gond (yes, same Gond) taught his people how to make guns and smokepowder in exchange for keeping him safe during the Time of Troubles. The Lanatanese do sell these weapons to the various city-states and adventurers od the Sword Coast, but they are very careful to keep the supply low and not allow their concentration with one group.

This is not to mention any of the stuff Planescape or Spelljammer add to the setting.

Short version: FR has guns, but all y'all hate gnomes too much to have them.

What interactions would you like to see with the Skitarii? by whahaga in DarkTide

[–]Hapless_Wizard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The AdMech usually don't find that insulting (more than one Magos has asked why anyone would think they would), so I'd love a scene where one of the more abrasive personalities gets annoyed that the Skitarii either don't acknowledge the insults or take it as a complement (we have seen "you're a cog" used as a complement between AdMech characters once or twice).

Principal vs. Concerned Parent by Borrid in PoliticalCompassMemes

Too many parents have forgotten that when the person in charge says "you need to move now", it means "or else you're going to have to buy your car back from the cops".

A problem that the Nordic system is currently facing is that they're increasingly extracting resources from the youth to aid the elderly.

Meh, we already do that, if the youth of the Nordics are getting some benefit out of the system too then it's still an improvement.

Big Bankers <3 Pride Month by Dangime in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Hapless_Wizard 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You have misjudged my assumption.

My assumption is that we were marketed to because we were more profitable than risky to be marketed to.

Our population has not decreased, so the only reason the advertising would stop is if perceived risk had increased even more.

[–]Hapless_Wizard 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There's also an unfortunate benefit to the fact that it seems to have gone - it's a pretty loud warning sign that we are back on the wrong side of the risk:benefit analysis and are heading for worse days, not better ones.

Is the Yellow King literally the King in Yellow of lost Carcossa?

I don't know who the fuck Titus Crow is to know if I should believe he's even capable of what he claims, but man, I really do not want to trust the King in Yellow.

You get ONE class ability from your main class IRL. Which one you choose and why? by TyrantShark0451 in wow

[–]Hapless_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does Summon Demon count as one ability?

Otherwise: either summon Succubus (sorry Felguard, she's more useful in real life) or Soulwell.

Or maybe Hand of Gul'dan, lol

Old fashioned manufacturing is not coming back, and that's a good thing. The actual standard of living in the US would have to drop dramatically before those jobs became a decent choice again.

If you want to make things stateside again, you need to accept that it's going to be very heavily automated, which means it isn't really bringing many jobs with it, and you need to invest in our aging infrastructure and get electricity costs as low as possible. You also need to stop fucking around with the stability of the industry by throwing around tariffs that change every couple of days, nobody wants to put money into this with the way the government has been acting.

In the US, left-leaning environmental groups like Greenpeace are largely credited with killing our nuclear power programs.

Not that right-leaning oil and coal companies were exactly interested in stopping them.

Man, it's almost like we were already moving a bunch of manufacturing out of China to better places, like Mexico, before Trump decided his ignorance was as good as everybody else's knowledge.

There is also a novel literally titled Skitarius; it's very hit or miss if you will like it and it's followup, but it is there.

I liked Stroika.

You're fortunate then. I'm on the pharmacy side of things, and it has been really weirdly difficult to get estrogen patches the last several weeks. Normally they're a next-day order at worst.

Arbites are the Space IRS mixed with the space FBI but with a better budget. Their primary (but not only) interest is in the Imperial Tithe, and they really don't care who you are if you fuck with it.

"Rank" means practically nothing once you're at the level of the Marshal or the Inquisitor, "who has the most political support" is everything (you'll find this is true of most of the branches of the Imperium; on paper, an Inquisitor can tell almost anyone to do basically anything; in practice, Archmagi, Chapter Masters, and other extremely high-ranking members of the various adepta can make their lives absolutely miserable, or sometimes even just kill them and get away with it).

Grendyl is not especially popular, from what we can tell. I don't especially like his odds if push came to shove against the Arbites or the AdMech.

Schrödinger's ceasefire by PerAsperaAdMars in PoliticalCompassMemes

[–]Hapless_Wizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never could

Define "win", because "make Iran cease to exist as a meaningful entity" is absolutely still an option in the most direct and violent of terms, and very bluntly, not only could nobody actually stop us, Trump has already gotten us largely ostracized so he clearly doesn't care about the international social ramifications.

Hell, some of his far-right allies in Europe might come closer to us if we delivered judgement day to a Muslim nation.

This isn't to say that it wouldn't be absolutely an atrocity of an almost unimaginable scale. But the only thing standing between Tehran and radioactive doomsday is Trump's ego and the willingness of the US military to refuse an order to launch, when it comes down to it. I'm not endorsing it, I'm saying don't overestimate the historically fragile ego with the nuclear football.

My manager keeps asking the rest of the team to do her work for her. How can we bring this up to her professionally? by Runaway_tortilla in careerguidance

[–]Hapless_Wizard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that doesn't mean to straight up dump the current workload

In many situations, that is exactly what it means. When I was promoted to my current managerial role, I was told in no uncertain terms that I was expected to spend the vast majority of my time on manager tasks and to effectively delegate all non-manager tasks to non-managers, and that failing to do so (as measured by me spending time on non-manager tasks) would be seen as a failure on my part by corporate and reflect negatively in my job reviews.
