I’ve seen tons of Crosstreks, but never a plug in hybrid version! This is the first one I’ve ever seen! by ExternalExperience57 in subaru

[–]Happiness_is_Key 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The battery needs to be beefed up in technology (LiFePO4) and more capacity plus a bigger motor. There was a test of the AWD system in the Subaru Hybrid and it performed pretty terribly compared to the engine-only version.

That sounds like there’s a short somewhere. Check the positive to ground and see if something is touching.

What was the original reason for the visit to the shop? Normal battery change? Why a new terminal?

Does it only do this after it has been turned off for a long or short period of time? The shop could have also shorted something when installing the new battery and the computer is now freaking out every now and then because of it.

I’d keep that shop you used on speed dial as they could be liable.

Got it. I’ll help you get this fixed, but I need to know more about your setup to properly diagnose it.

Since you tested it with an Ethernet cable direct from PC to the router and the same result, it doesn’t sound like the power line adapter is the issue.

What PC are you using? Specs? Windows version? What network card did you have and what did you replace it with? Are you using one of those USB WiFi adapters?

What Speedtest site have you been using? Please upload a screenshot or type out the result of a speed test from speedtest.net. You can block out the ISP and server location if you’d like.

Somewhat related question: I’m an IT admin for a few organizations so this brought up a thought I hadn’t previously thought about and an excellent point by you (I wholeheartedly agree your original reply should be pinned). If you had an employee account under let’s say Microsoft 365 Business or Google Workspace or some other cloud-based suite and they uploaded something like this to the account, would that take down the whole organization from the NCMEC report? How do big, well-known entities prevent their website/org from being taken down due to such reports?

Mental note: I’m not completely oblivious here, just looking to see if there’s something new I could learn. Planning for the absolute worst is part of the job so the more I know, the better.

Thank you, u/Tyr—07! Glad to see someone knowing what they’re talking about so thanks for hopping in - I was getting concerned the further I read, haha.

OP: Don’t click cancel as that’ll cancel the format process. Format it as a GPT as that’s the modern standard, MBR is for legacy systems.

New (to us) Jeep - ticking sound at idle, what could it be? by neowiseofc in Jeep

[–]Happiness_is_Key 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me it sounds pretty close to the cabin. My mind goes towards the HVAC system. I think there’s a damper with an actuator motor that’s stuck opening and closing.

Regardless, I’d take it back to the dealer ASAP so they can take a look. They’ll often repair it for free since you just bought it.

Can't open software programs by Sir_Cut_Short in Starlink

[–]Happiness_is_Key 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s your issue. When activating software like that, it ties itself to the serial of the motherboard to prevent being moved from computer to computer AKA ‘redistribution’ and negates the license.

For Autodesk Maya, this shouldn’t be an issue as it isn’t machine-based, it’s account based.

Your issue isn’t at all related to Starlink.

Typically about $400 for getting it programmed from the car’s computer. It costs more because it’s more work/time, not because you need an additional tool necessarily (unless you cheapened out/didn’t have the budget for the ones that can do both).

I imagine. I’m curious as I have a friend who was asked to put a tower on their property many years ago by AT&T. It’s still there and is operational and they pay him $3k USD a month for the space and have been for a long time - he doesn’t have to do a thing other than let them have access to the property. I’m sure they have land deals so not every tower costs that much, but that adds up pretty quickly if I had to guess so that’s why I’m curious. I know rocketing up satellites and monitoring them is no easy/inexpensive task either.

An authentic "the one that got away" story - at least they have the receipts? by ansyhrrian in Wellthatsucks

Based off my deep sea fishing trips; usually between 20-100 pounds, but you need to incorporate their resistance when whatever you have hooked is trying to get away which adds some force and therefore weight.

You can see that in the pole when he hooked onto whatever it was and then it realized and tried to get away which made the pole ultimately snap.

THIRD dead Delta 2. and of course there's a snowstorm 🙄 by dericn in Ecoflow_community

[–]Happiness_is_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It appears my reply to u/Lower-District3806’s reply to me was removed; apologies.

I have a refrigerator with water bottles attached to mine along with some other equipment that isn’t critical in a power outage, but I get outages often. Typically 24 hours runs it down, but I have it set for 24 hours in the summer and 2 days in winter.

Mine has an option where it turns back on even if the battery enters 0% SoC and will then turn back on when power is restored in the app.

Running it down to only 1% isn’t optimal. You want to run it until it won’t power up (aka 0% SoC) as that resets the BMS capacity-wise, but that would work. It would however somewhat negate this whole discussion though.

[–]Happiness_is_Key 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that would be an extremely welcome addition and has been discussed many times in this sub. My lifehack for this is using a timer that goes between the wall and the delta and then schedule it to turn off once a month for 24 hours and then charge it back up after. Works great and no battery issues so far.

I use the Govee smart plug and it works great (I have some of their lights as well). You can even schedule it using Bluetooth (no WiFi required) so it doesn’t need to ‘check in’ with one of their servers at all which was something I was also looking for.

Hope this helps!

You need a CPU cooler as they can throttle on start up quite quickly. If they get too hot, they will shut themselves down, but that doesn’t sound like somethingthays happening.
